Oh man the best interior of all the earls I have been in so far. ( including few in BC , toronto) The door usher took our details for the table reservation and gave us a glass of white wine as a tasting. First of all the lighting was perfect, second the customer service was excellent and now this complimentary wine tasting is par excellence. Makes you feel so special. Ah , such a nice experience here. So moving next to our drinks menu which was intriguing. As many new spirit inspired cocktails and variety of other alcoholic beverages grace the menu something that caught my attention was a peanut butter whiskey. Omg so perfect fall drink. If you are a peanut butter fan then this is worth a shot. (I was so engrossed in gulping that drink down my throat that i forgot to take a picture of the drink) Chicken tacos were tasty n juicy . Didn't eat much . Desert we ordered was the seasonal cake which was good but too sweet for my taste. Didn't eat much but enjoyed the vibe of the space. My friend went to this restaurant last night and she ordered the Santa Fe Salad. She is allergic to peanuts and requested a different dressing as the ingredient listed included a peanut vinaigrette, to which the staff said was easily swapped. When she got her order she had an allergic reaction after 2-3 bites. When she told the staff they asked the kitchen staff to check on this. They were assured that the dish was prepared separately however, she distinctly had an immediate reaction. The staff were kind and offered to call an ambulance though she had medications on hand to assuage her reaction. The staff were willing to comp her salad but nothing else from the bill. It's just disappointing that she was clear about her allergy and assurances from the staff were skipped over. read more

Happy hour at Earls is always good. I've never been disappointed with the consistency of Earls. Even though the food is not gourmet or anything like that, it tastes good, pleases many palettes and is consistently good. This time we ordered the chicken salad, shrimp spaghettini, Buffalo cauliflower, and chocolate lava cake. I also ordered the red sangria which is not pictured here. The salad was good size and filling. The shrimp pasta was so good too and the cake was the perfect finish to our meal. Who am I kidding, of course I'll be back! I went with my friend to Earls, a place I always loved. I got the gluten free buffalo cauliflower because I am a celiac. My friend ordered the same and the first time the food was brought out, apparently mine wasn't gluten free but it was taken back. The servers are very sweet as always, and a manager spoke to me. I got my food, ate it, and then that night got violently ill. I called and left a message and no one got back to me. I had phoned the South Edmonton Common location first because I was really sick at the time, and they said they would check into it but never got back to me. That's when I phoned Crossroads, and left a message. Same thing. I always thought I could count on Earls but now I am kind of done because they couldn't even call me back. Plus I got really, really sick. It's too bad because the food and service has always been fairly good. read more

It's pretty standard as far as Earls goes. What I don't like about this location is the seating and layout. All the tables seem very close together and there isn't much room to walk around. One of my friends almost had her dinner knocked right off the table by another guest's coat as she walked by since it's so tight. As my one friend put it "you may as well go eat in the Ikea cafeteria". Nothing about this location feels intimate. While our server was polite and nice we had to ask for water refills a few times. (We also noticed other tables doing the same) The food was good, the gingerbread cake was to die for - but I'll probably go to a different location to get those in the future. read more

I know it's a chain restaurant but it is very consistent. Had lovely service, consistent food and the spacing for covid was generous. They gay switched to laminated menus that could be disinfected after each use. As normal as a dining experience could be considering the conditions. read more

I did not have a great experience here. Our servers forgot cutlery on our table. We were celebrating a special occasion and were told that requesting for the chef to write a message for our friend having surgery on the dessert upset the chef and that they would not do it. This message was relayed to us by the server making us feel like we asked for something innapropriate. This really put a damper on our girls last night out before her surgery. read more

Last evening my Girlfriend and I had the very enjoyable experience at this establishment. On short notice we were able to secure a 6:00 PM patio reservation. Upon arrival we were whisked away to our waiting table in their cozy curtained cubicles. (once greeted by our Server) We considered ourselves fortune to get "Annie" as our Main Server. As some opening conversation we took her recommendation of which appetizer to share. It was so good that when it came time to chose my accompanying side salad I let her chose and have it come as a surprise. The whole experience was enjoyable. My only regret is that we didn't snap a couple of pics of the meal presentations. We highly recommend this establishment of Earls. read more

This Earl's is located within the "inner" South Edmonton Common area. I don't come to Edmonton often, but whether I'm taking a class at a nearby hotel, heading to the Airport, or have just finished visiting a distributor, I somehow end up at this Earl's. I like the food, the wine choices, and how they appoint their restaurants. As a child of the Midwest, just give me a decent meal, good service, and a price I find reasonable and I'm happy. I also like Earl's because I know what to expect, I know what it's not, and I'm always comfortable from the minute I walk in the door. Throughout my Canadian travels, there is usually an Earl's nearby. And I bet I could do a cross country trip and take only eat dinner at one of their branches. However, I would leave breakfast and lunch to Tim's. It would be my Canuck version of Supersize Me. read more

This place is nice. It has a decent sized lobby with some cushion covered benches to sit as you wait for a table. A hostess, or a few, to welcome you in, and usher you to a spot when they are able to. The ceilings are high here, and the ambience in casual, yet classy. This visit had us seated at exactly the time they quoted us, right to the minute. The server was tentative and visited our table frequently to make sure we had everything we needed; whether it be drinks, refills, food, or quality check-ups to make sure all was good. The food was amazing. I had the cajan salmon with rice and asparagus, and it was all perfectly done. The salmon had a crisp outer layer of spice coating, but inside was tender and moist that would just melt in your mouth. The asparagus was cooked through exactly the way I like it, with a slight crispness in the bite but tender and juicy. The rice had fresh green onions diced up and mixed in. All served with lemon on the side to add a zing with a simple squeeze. It was delicious. It smelled and looked so good, I forgot to take a picture this time. I may just have to go again for the photo... or at least use that as a reason to have the same meal twice. Definately worth checking this place out if you haven't! It is good! read more

This is one of the more understated Earls in the city. I actually really like this one. I like the atmosphere and the decor reminds me of the Earls restaurants before they got all upscale casual or whatever. They have pasta and pizza artwork on the wall, paintings of wine and I think it's really nice. The dining room area has a warm colour to it and the seating is great, it's mostly all booths. When I first started coming to this location I was pleasantly surprised by everything. One thing I will say is that the bathrooms are strange. It's all white door cubicle things that are reminiscent of prison cells. Plus when I go in there it's usually messy, there are paper towels on the floors etc. I've always had great service here!! If anyone is looking to try a really delicious Key Lime Pie you should come here before they take it off the limited time menu! Just had it on Sunday and it was delicious!!! read more

I recently was in for happy hour between the hours of 4 and 5 and I had the best sushi roll that I believe has ever left your kitchen. With that said, I understand that's just my opinion but I've tried your sushi roll many times and this one was the best!!! Chef Eli put love into the meal and I could taste it! First time to Earls. The food was terrific. Was there with my family (4). We had fettuccine pasta, steak, grilled chicken Caesar salad, and chicken tenders. As I said the food was delicious, but everything else was sub par. We asked for a high chair for my son and was finally given one... 5 minutes before we were finished our meal. It took 15 minutes to get a refill on my iced tea. The food portions were quite small considering the price. And the washrooms weren't overall very clean. I'd rate McDonald's and Walmart's washrooms cleaner and nicer. All in all it wasn't worth the $90 we paid for our meal. read more

Recently went here for happy hour with some coworkers and they had recently changed/added to their menu. We ordered the crab dumplings, dynamite roll, garlic fries with aioli (ordered separate) and dry ribs. The crab dumplings were good but tasted like they also had pork. They were nice and plump. The dynamite roll was average as were the dry ribs. The garlic fries were my favourite part, they were crispy and had lots of garlicky flavour. The prices were not really that great for a happy hour. I just had an exquisite experience at Earls on Calgary Trail and Whitemud Crossing! 6 of us enjoyed a 5 course meal which was brought to us by a super friendly and very professional server, she was attentive and always ready to help. The chef came out with each course, explained the food, and had great stories to make us laugh and feel at home. The food, wow, the food was amazing! I live near this Earl's location but typically go to the South Edmonton Common location, I love the ambiance. Having experienced what this location has to offer I certainly will be going here again. First of all the front of the house was excellent. The greeter asked for our vaccination cards & ID! We weren't going to eat there if they didn't. The server, Devon, was also great & friendly. The food was where things fell apart. We ordered chipotle calamari, truffle fries & crispy prawn tacos. The calamari was good, there were some limp vegetables in the mix of deep-fried squid. However, the quick pickled onions they were topped with were fermenting & unpleasant tasting. The crispy prawn tacos were small, cold & just not good, we sent them back. No complaints about the truffle fries themselves. However, the presentation of the dips was so sloppy, slapped on the dish & looked like they had been sitting around for awhile with a 'skin' on them. For the first visit to a restaurant in a long while, I expected better. The restaurant wasn't busy & they're was time for the kitchen to do a good job. I wouldn't recommend or return. read more

Was at Earls South Common Edmonton yesterday with my girlfriends. The Manager ( believe he is new there) came to us and thanked us for choosing them as the place to have our lunch. The waitress was a sweetheart and very attentive and their Covid protocols were were in place. Our meal was on the house . We were overwhelmed. All the staff looked happy to be there. I'm generally an Earls fan. We had tried sitting inside but the AC made it too cold. Outside was slightly warmer and even though it was still afternoon the hostess turned the heaters on. This made it much more enjoyable! Our server wasn't good. She took a while to introduce herself/take drink orders. And when our food came out the fries were cold and we wanted to send them back. The server didn't come check how things were until we were just about done the meal. We even tried getting her attention a few times which became quite a distraction during the meal. She also failed to refill our water glasses until I asked her after our meal. The restaurant wasn't busy making this sub par service even more unacceptable. In addition to the server there are some issues I have with the Earls restaurants in general. Most I have been to recently have taken the California pizza off their menu. All servers have said it was a popular dish. I wish they would quit changing their menu as often as they do so that certain staples remain unchanged. I also think they should use larger water glasses. This doesn't seem like a big deal, but it's very annoying to be able to have a couple sips out of your glass and then need a refill. It also highlights poor service when servers aren't attentive to refilling water. Given the poor service and how a couple of my favourite menu items are no longer served I don't think I will be frequenting Earls anymore. read more

I don't really like Earls. I find the food at Earls to be mediocre at best. And every time I manage to find something that I like, they take it off the menu. I have to say that it was interesting to have a magician come to our table while we waited for our food though. It was fun but intrusive at the same time. We were having a serious conversation that was interrupted by a magician moving from table to table to make the wait for food seem less tedious and long. I like the decor inside Earls. It's nice, modern, and trendy. I find the service in the restaurant to be WAY better in the dining room, compared to the lounge, and that's not saying a lot. I really hate to say this, but I find the servers in the lounge to be the stereotypical Earls girls. I feel like they are annoyed by having to serve me because I'm female and they don't think I'll tip them as well (they are allowed, and encouraged, to show skin). Had lunch here with a supplier and a couple of other colleagues. As it was close to Xmas, it was very busy. even with the place packed everything ran smoothly. I had a Cajun chicken sandwich and a bowl of mushroom soup. Sandwich was good with all the right bits where they should be. The mushroom soup however was exceptional. Usually I judge mushroom soup on how closely it approaches a can of traditional Campbell's from my childhood as that is one of my comfort foods. At earls, it is very different. And very good. I hadn't been in an Earl's in years but after the great experience we had tonight they have definitely earned more of my business. I love the decor in here...very warm with lots of lighting and beautiful shades of red and orange throughout! We were greeted enthusiastically by the hostess as well as out waiter who then proceeded to take excellent care of making sure we had comfortable seating as my cousin whom I was dining with is on crutches currently. We ordered an appetizer at the start and got it fairly quickly. The three cheese spinach dip with toast points was amazing and after we ran out of bread they offered another half order as we still had lots of dip left. My chicken taco's both looked and tasted excellent. If you like spicy foods this would have to be my suggested menu item as their hot sauce definitely has a kick but they place it on the side which gives you the opportunity to decide just how much heat you can handle. Our waiter was very attentive throughout the meal....we literally never made it to the bottom of our beverage glasses before being offered another refill! This is a fabulous option for dining on the south side and I will definitely be back. read more

Food was great for most parts. However the service needs improvement. The appetizer of chicken wings and calamari was really good. The steak I ordered was a 9 oz Top Sirloin with the Bourbon Mushroom sauce ordered medium rare. It was done the way i like and the taste of the food was really good. My spouse ordered their Sablefish dish and liked it for most parts as it didn't come out dry. My mom ordered their full size clam chowder soup, split a chicken avocado salad with my dad. The soup was good but the salad dish had 3 small pieces that would not even added to half an avocado. The ribs my father ordered was good. Nice soft and tasty. Our friend ordered a 7 oz Top Sirloin peppercorn steak. Although to the rest of us his steak was done medium rare, he thought it was more blue rare. Service wise, our friend who ordered a starter size of clam chowder had to wait to get a spoon. There was no foresight to bring that before the soup came out. Food took a little while to get out to us, could be because of groups of 10 or more being there for New years eve. The server charged a 10 oz New York for my bill and when he tried to explain I reminded him I ordered a 9 oz Top Sirloin and that got corrected but the idea that your being charged something more for a meal you didn't order is not a good start of confidence that things will be done right. I went to Earl's at South Common for dinner on a Wednesday night in August. We sat on the patio in a booth. All the staff members were extremely upbeat and enthusiastic - but they were also all dressed in this sort of tacky black lace dresses that looked too short for someone working as a waitress. Plus, none of the waitresses seemed to have the appropriate undergarments for the types of dresses they have to wear - so it makes them look even tackier. My friend and I ordered a delicious appetizer of raw tuna nachos, which were much much better than I was expecting. I then had pasta for dinner - but discovered it was a little on the spicy side (which wasn't explained in the menu). I also tried the Albino wheat ale and was disappointed. But service was great. And the atmosphere on the patio was really nice. Inside would have been a little too dark and loud. Prices were average for a restaurant like this - about $30 per person with the beer. I would recommend and will definitely go back to either this location or another Earl's location in Edmonton. read more

I know that there are a lot of die-hard Earl's fans out there, and I'm not here to knock you. I like Earl's, I do, but I don't like waiting. It seems there's ALWAYS a wait to get in (at all locations, not just this one). And don't get me wrong, I know that a wait is great for a restaurant but it can be frustrating for patrons... if I always have to wait I'll just start going somewhere else. The service at this location is good, the food is good, things are good. The patio is great but the bar inside is so dark it's a shock to the system when you walk in, your eyes need time to adjust. I like the food at Earl's, it's very good and the prices comparable to other fine casual establishments. There's always lots of parking at this location which is great, and it's proximity to where I work is a bonus. To sum things up, Earl's I like you but I don't know if I am quite ready to move beyond being just friends quite yet. read more
