I've been meaning to write a review for this place for awhile and I just can't get myself to do so. The Issue? The problem? I want one of their sandwiches so bad when I think about my mouth starts to water, and since they're three hours away, it drives me batty. I've stopped their twice now on my way out west, and I make it a point to stop their every time I get out there. Now don't get me wrong - this is not life changing food. It is not gourmet, it does not scream for a thousand dollar bottle of wine to accompany the food. But it is the classic American roadside diner, to a "T". There is a certain kind of hunger that you get when going on long cross country trips that no fast food will satisfy. It is hard to define, but the Eagle Diner hits that peculiar craving just about dead on. Great burgers and sandwiches, good selection of brews, good fries, and good service. I would give their daily special a try (I had a sandwich concoction last time - grilled turkey, onion, cheese, and tomatoes with honey mustard - simple, straight forward and good). If you're headed west along I-70, your options will be limited (unless you stop in Grand Junction) until you get to Southern Utah, and lets face it, its UTAH. Things can go seriously sideways throughout that whole state, so enjoy a last good meal with normal, happy people. read more

Yelp never fails us...and didn't this time! Precious decor, but the breakfast was classic and amazing. My husband had the western omelet and said it was really well put together, flavorful and "clean and fresh". I had the biscuits and gravy. Imma southern girl who thinks she knows her biscuits, but these were incredible! So moist and fresh! Biscuits can go dry on you quickly, but whoever made these really knew what they were doing! Happened into this fine little diner on a road trip to Denver. Lunch time and needed some comfort food. The service here is warm, friendly, offering such a nice personal touch! Husband had fish and chips which were not great but good enough to satisfy a craving. I enjoyed a half ham sandwich with house salad. Bread, ham, cheese was all excellent quality and very fresh. The server told me the bleu cheese dressing was so good and was she ever right! House made dressing, I'm sure. The server is a credit to food service--sent us on our way with an iced tea refill for the road. If you ever make this drive, please check this fun, friendly, yummy place out! read more

Pretty cool little place. It's a nice change of pace compared to typical restaurant style eating. I had the southwest burger with a house salad. I really enjoyed the burger but wasn't a huge fan of their choice of lettuce in the salad. That didn't stop me from eating it though. read more

Road trip stop and we were not disappointed. We didn't even check the Yelp reviews before finding a seat. Basically because we didn't want drive thru food and this was the first sit down choice near the freeway off ramp. Eye catching "shotgun" style building. The place is done up old school but very tastefully. Everything smelled and appeared very clean. Dianne was super friendly and quick, kept the coffee full. Ordered the chicken fried steak, #14 and it was very well balanced, cooked perfectly. If you're passing by, definitely worth the stop! read more

This Diner had a great feel to it and the cuisine was subpar. I attended the restaurant towards the late evening, around 8:17 to be exact. The service was a little slow but I believe this was only they were close to closing time. The milkshakes were beyond extravagant! Our waitress was very kind as well. For a retro diner, it's one of the better in my book. They serve the classic all American fair and complement the menu with plenty of respective period decor and pictures. Over all, the place was tidy, the service was what you might expect, and the prices pretty much equaled the quality. On a Sunday evening, they are one of three places, aside from fast food, that are even open in Eagle, and of the three, I would favor them hands down. I spent a good bit of time driving through town looking for a place to get a bite, and after waiting at a Mexican restaurant for about 5 minutes without attention, we tried a pizza joint right next door to that, and would have notified Health & Safety, had I not been so hungry. The only place left was the Eagle Diner, and it turned out to be a satisfying stop compared to the previous disappointments. read more

My family and I use to come to the Eagle Diner all the time when driving home to Denver from the western slope. We stopped in tonight after a rode trip and the food didn't disappoint. My son had a double cheeseburger which he devoured, I had the meatloaf with mashed potatoes and my husband had chicken fried chicken. It was all excellent but the chicken fried chicken is where it's at. The gravy is so good! read more

I do not recommend this place. I ordered a cup of chili and when she brought it out it looked great but there was no cheese on it I asked if she could bring a side of shredded cheese, and just as I'm ready to taste it with my spoon she grabs the chili and whisks it away and returns after a few minute with cheese on it but now it's cold? Ok that is a pet peeve to put food in front of me then take it away. Then comes my grilled guacamole veggie sandwich, it was supposed to have pepper jack cheese on it but there's orange cheese on it on one side. I asked the waitress what kind of cheese is on there and she says that doesn't look right to me and again whisks away my food. When she finally brought it back the fries were not re made so they were cold and the sandwich was swimming in butter with hardly any avocado on and tons of stringy onions, I guess they are trying to save a buck by cutting corners & it is very obvious. This behavior by the waitress I felt was very passive aggressive and because of that made for an unpleasant lunch experience also their prices are way to high and low quality food not worth it. Go somewhere else is my advice. The only reason I gave an extra star was because they took $10 off the bill however none of that should have happened in the first place. read more

We ordered two malts, we got two shakes. Chicken sandwich was so dry w/ no flavor. No amount of mayo, avacado and salt could hide the worst dry chicken breast, ever. Staff was nice. I remember this place being amazing about 2yrs ago when I came. The restaurant looks like its dying. read more

Me and The Hubs stopped in for lunch on our way back home to Denver one day last fall. This is a cute American diner with your average burgers and greasy fried food. I think I had some sort of grilled chicken sandwich and fries (don't remember what The Hubs ordered). The food was OK, but nothing to write home about. The service was friendly and the food came out in a reasonable amount of time, but frankly, I think I'll keep looking the next time we're driving through this area and want lunch. read more

We stopped by for dinner last weekend. I had the cod fillets with curly fries. I didn't like the breading on the fillets, but the fish itself was quite good. The curly fries were very good. My husband enjoyed his burger and the kids liked their meals. The atmosphere is nice and my kids enjoyed looking at all the stuff on the walls. I felt like the prices were pretty good, especially for the quality of food. We will definitely be back if we are in the area. read more

I have always meant to give a glowing review of this diner. By far my most favorite 50's style sit down American food. We came through the I 70 on a trip back from California and completely forgot the name and location by the time we got home. As we are traveling through soon I scoured the map/yelp and found out it was Eagle Diner. A must stop spot for yummy food on the " munchie menu" and we hope our hostess server is still there because she was so sweet and you could tell she loved her job-somewhat rare nowadays. read more

Good breakfast! I ordered the combination breakfast plate and my husband had the huevos rancheros and both were really good! My pancakes weren't the best so I would try the French toast instead for next time. Service was fast and friendly. We would visit again! read more

We picked this place after completing the manitou climb!! It was great! Food was good, service was on top of it, and the pancakes were well deserved after a hike!! There didn't seem to be much seating so try to time your visit to either go before or after the morning breakfast rush crowd. read more

I was looking to grab a quick breakfast on my travels from Eagle to Vail for a hike and found the Eagle Diner on Yelp. I am a NJ native and this diner truly has all that a seasoned veteran looks for! Nothing fancy, but still perfect. Welcoming service, quick staff, a counter to sit at, great coffee, and a hot, delicious breakfast at a perfect price! After spending the night at the campground, it was a delight to find counter space, running water!, and televisions at the counter. I will stop every time I make my way back to the area! read more
