Stopped by on our way to Denver from SLC. I had the spinach omelette with hash browns and biscuit and my friend has the southwestern omelette. I was ecstatic over my omelette. The right amount of spinach with sautéed onions and diced tomatoes with bacon in the omelette. The combination was a perfect savory blend of you like your eggs to have that mix of savory and bright (acid from tomatoes) and enough Swiss cheese to have to use your knife. Just a perfect diner omelette! My friend liked his omelette but didn't rave. Maybe I just haven't had a good omelette in a while. The shredded hash browns had a wonderful crispy brown crunch on them that, again, a lot of diners miss the mark on. Not here. My only complaint would be the biscuit which was not quite what this southern gal was expecting. More like a biscuit roll than a flaky or crumbly delicacy. This place for me is a roller coaster of emotions. It's a diner. I get it. But man, I have been to some awesome diners. Maybe one out of 9 times that you go here do you feel happy about not staying home and cooking breakfast. The servers are grumpy and disconnected. On Auto Pilot...the coffee is good and strong---never order a soft scramble on an egg because only one temperature is ever produced. The Huevos Rancheros never disappoints. The mountains are challenged with food trucks and their deliveries so you honestly never know what kind of potato you will get. I don't know. It's a place for locals. It will always be there. Just lower your standards a bit. read more

Cruising along I-70 and hoping to find a place for a good breakfast, boy did we hit it right. Great comfort food, great service, great value. Portions are huge so you have been warned. Our group had the creeps, pancakes, club sandwich, and an omelette. Everything was great except the salsa which I would avoid but maybe I am biased by being from Texas. I would highly recommend the Eagle Diner. read more

We are on the road traveling for the past 10 days stopped an eagle state at a hotel across the street from the Eagle Diner if you're ever in this area you must have either lunch or dinner here we had dinner the service was impeccable the food was fantastic too much as normal but the best thing we had at the end of the meal was the banana split it's a 50 Style Diner decorated in the 1950s Style and the soda fountain is done the correct way since I am from the 50s have a great one read more

After hiking Hanging Lake Trail and taking double our expected time for the roundtrip as downhill on the rocks took as long to balance for my short, stiff legs as uphill had (but I was never short of breath either direction) we needed a late lunch on our return drive back to Boulder. My husband has eaten here several times before and liked it, the pictures of the food online looked great and since we had a minimalist breakfast before the hike, I envisioned a giant farmer's style egg plate with lots of sides for me. So we arrived, starving, and the first thing I see on the menu is that they only serve the breakfast menu until noon! At a traditional roadside diner, really? It took a while to readjust my attitude, for sure, but I did end up with a nice salsa burger with chopped green chiles and guacamole, so the capsaicin factor was the consolation prize. I got the curly fries with it but they were so greasy, I ate just a few. The iced tea was refreshing though. Service was slow, even though the lunch crowd was over and the place was half empty. Staff getting their own breaks I guess. But friendly and welcoming. It is easy to find and to park here, just off the Eagle exit on I-70. read more

PERFECT DINER BREAKFAST! It's like taking a step back in time to the days of our grandparents when diners were diners... in ALL the right ways. GREAT LOCATION off the Interstate with beautiful grassy area outside too. The breakfast food was actually perfect, with one small exception. Staff is friendly and attentive especially in the early morning which is when we visited. First as soon as we walked in the door, my husband said "it smells like breakfast" Exactly! Eggs were all perfectly cooked, our little twins and my hubby got scrambled and the girls loved them so much they asked for seconds.. I got mine over easy and again, perfectly done. Sausage links, bacon and English muffin all perfectly done... cooked through with a touch of crispy edge. Minor exception to what I would call "diner perfection" was the pancakes. Our girls didn't like them and they always love pancakes. At home we use an organic brand of mix that doesn't bleach the flour. For some reason as I cut their pancakes, it's like I could smell the bleach but I didn't say anything because I wanted the girls to eat them. Unfortunately they were excited and took their first bite quickly and then refused to eat the rest. I then tasted them and could taste the bleachy taste, so my only suggestion would be to maybe get a different pancake mix or flour brand if they make them from scratch. Everything else was SO great here I can't even take a star from them for the pancakes.. next time we're passing through we look forward to stopping again :) read more

Stopped here in March and enjoyed a delicious scrambled egg breakfast with veggie sausage. Great service! Stopped again in June and enjoyed a veggie burger with grilled onions for lunch. Good food and great service again. We planned our route to be here for meal time and weren't disappointed. read more

We stopped in here towing an RV from Glenwood Springs. I was first surprised how well they were concerned with keeping everything sanitized for COVID. They sprayed the ketchup and mustard, salt and pepper bottles between each customer. Tables and seats were wiped well. I really appreciated it. The waitress was amazing and attentive and the food was great! We had burgers, one of us had the breakfast burrito which was HUGE. The green chili was great! Will be back! read more

Wow! Remarkable! Great food, clean, nostalgic motif. Our server, Tyler, was pleasant, knowledgeable, and helpful. Matt reports that his soup and salad were, delicious, generous, and reasonably priced. Matt couldn't finish his meal. My blue cheese bacon burger was exactly right. I ordered my burger rare, and rare it was. Their onion rings were second only to Burgerville's fresh-cut Walla-Walla sweets, and those are only available when the onions are fresh. I don't know if I was just really hungry from skipping lunch, but they have an epic spinach quesadilla (it has bacon inside!). And it's gigantic. Also, they have one killer cookies and cream milkshake. They even give you a spoon with it because the cookie bits are large and generous. Also, the menus were really clean - this is such a small thing, but important. I'm used to diners having menus that are sticky from syrup. It gives me confidence they keep things clean and tidy everywhere. So yes, this is definitely a diner I'd visit again! read more

We ordered the mushroom soup of the day. It was good. Lots of mushrooms. The hot dog was a quality dog. The onion rings were so, so. The Cesar salad with chicken and croutons was ok. The lettuce was half wilted and there was too much dressing for my taste. There was a well grilled chicken breast that tasted great. The staff was busy and the manager was helping out. Bathrooms were clean but the floor of the restaurant could have used a little attention. I stopped at the diner twice in the last week. (I am always disappointed if timing doesn't work to grab a bite on at least one leg of a round trip to Grand Junction.) So I had lunch on Friday and Breakfast on Sunday. I had the patty melt on Friday and found it prepared well with the fired onions done to perfection. My only complaint--as a carb-conscious I would have preferred the traditional open-faced delight but it was still very good. On Sunday I had the Biscuits and Sausage Gravy with a side of sausage and an egg over-easy. The biscuits were very tasty and complemented well by tasty gravy and a perfect egg with bountiful hash browns. I will definitely try both again on another trip. The worst part--one has to traverse a lot of I-70 to get there! read more

Stopped in for lunch on a mission Monday while on the road with family. Service was incredibly friendly and efficient, and the food is very reasonable in price, especially for a resort town- it is only a couple bucks more than the Wendy's next door. Our burgers were tasty, food was hot, and the kids meals were very generous. Only reason they did not earn 5 stars was that the fries could have been a bit crispier and the burgers were medium well instead of medium as requested. Still very tasty though. read more

Solid. Excellent dinner food and always kind, helpful staff. Large variety of options on the menu to choose from plus good stuff for vegetarians and picky eaters! All the greasy regular classic dinner fair, plus healthier options. This place is a crowd pleaser. I almost always bring my 2 year-old twins boys and we are greatly welcomed from the moment we arrive. Despite the fact they never want to sit still and usually just want to eat the sugar and drink the half and half, which we don't allow. The waiters and waitresses here are awesome!!! This place is adorable! I ordered a burger with avocado. It was really good! I'd been in Utah for the last 4 or 5 days and I'd been searching for an avocado everywhere and nobody seemed to have them... Was it because I'd been craving one for so long? Maybe. Was it because it was a good burger? Maybe. The reason this diner was sent over the top for me (and hence the extra star) was the waitress we had. She was fantastic! She was cracking jokes, making everyone laugh even when she spilled a drink and knocked a trash can over. This made the trip so much better! read more

Great service! Great steak sandwich! Great ambiance! I was traveling between Placerville and Denver along I-70 and stopped at this 50's diner in Eagle. So glad I did! I sat at the counter, ordered a vanilla shake and steak sandwich - comes with mushrooms, onions on a French roll - I added bacon and got a side of fries. I asked for medium rare and got exactly that. It was so good. The waitress made extra shake and gave me the tin. I love that! The perfect stop and meal for along the 6 hour drive. If you're in area, I highly recommend you go. read more

Always pay a visit to the Eagle Diner when out camping at Sylvan Lake State Park. Only ever had breakfast there, but it's never really disappointed. Besides the obvious breakfast fare there's Huevos Rancheros and Chilie Rellenos both of which I think they do a decent job of. Pretty cheap, quick and quality has always been sound. Also love their malts. Service is brusque but efficient. Surprised to see some 2-star ratings, but perhaps it sucks after breakfast?
