I haven't been here in several years so I thought I would try them again. Yesterday we ordered our usual Chinese go to dishes. We were very disappointed. It was expensive but if it tasted good that would not have been an issue. My son's teriyaki chicken had very little chicken and lots of vegetables. He felt it wasn't very tasty. My husband and I split shrimp and lobster sauce and beef & broccoli . Both we felt weren't super flavorful. Along with the fried rice. We will not order again. So sorry. This restaurant used to be wonderful so it was a horrible disappointment to revisit after a few years away. Lousy food. Bourbon chicken was I assume chicken pieces coated in tough breading and a sauce that had no relation to any bourbon chicken I have ever eaten. The onion and green peppers were fresh. The name sounds fancy but it's exactly like a thousand other Chinese takeouts littered around everywhere. Definitely a few dollars more expensive than I'm used to (having lived in a larger city than High Springs) ... This visit was less than satisfactory. I ordered the green curry and it more resembled chicken with white sauce and mixed vegetables. The rice was good though. Service from the kitchen was very slow. I waited 35 minutes between my soup and my entree. The hot and sour soup was great. During the long wait and running out of beer I was able to notice some cleaning issues. Apparently window cleaner and bleach aren't allowed in the dining area. The glass is very dirty and the lamps are dusty with cowbwebs. The bathrooms do not appear to have been sanitized with anything other than a dish towel. The icing on the cake was the fortune cookie. It was the most stale and vile chunk of twisted ribbon I'd ever attempted to eat. It instantly ended up in a napkin. Looks the the roller coaster effect is going on here again. I paid $9.50 and added a gratuity for a $7.95 lunch special. Left and found my order was small breaded chicken bits in green pepper and onion sweet and sour sauce... the rice was also somehow cold. I returned to the store and told them I ordered "Bourbon Chicken" not sweet and sour chicken. Then a young man and check out clerk proceeded to try to gaslight me... said "this is how we make bourbon chicken with the peppers and onions" (with sweet and sour sauce lmao) So whatever you might order... be prepared for whatever they feel like making at the moment and for them to then tell you that what you specifically did not order... is what you meant to order when you ordered it. Everything was yummy that we ordered. Shrimp with lobster sauce, pork fried rice, Mongolian Beef, pia kaw mi, veggie delight no broccoli, pork spring rolls, egg drop soup. All were good versions of these dishes. The pot stickers were requested pan fried, but were deep fried. Filling was ok but the deep fried texture was off putting. The food is certainly authentic, and the wonderful taste of true Miso Soup was a beautiful way to start the meal. We followed it with orders of Beef with Broccoli, and Pork with Rice Noodles. The sauce for the beef dish was savory, but not overly salty. A touch of steamed rice on the side made a great balance. The rice noodles and thinner sauce gave the pork dish a lighter flavor, which complemented the broccoli entrée nicely. My first experience at Eabyss was not great and I left a review highlighting the experience, but this evening I gave them another chance and I was pleasantly surprised. The Good: The order was right and the food was good. The ingredients were fresher and the over all taste is better than the other Asian restaurants in the gainesville area. The staff was very nice, and the atmosphere was also much nicer then it was before. The Bad: I have to say there was no bad to the experience. The Ugly: Mixed with the bad. Well found the place here on Yelp and thought we would give it a try. We decided to order take out. Picked it up, they said it would be ready in 15 minutes and it was, it was also very hot. Tried the Krab Rangoon, pork egg rolls, house fried rice, house noodles and honey cy hicken. The Krab rangoon my wife loved, I'm not a big fan of it myself. But the pork egg rolls were flavorful, crisp and loaded with a well seasoned pork mixture. The house fried rice was a little gummy but I attribute that to the fact that it was hot, in a take out container and endured the 15 minute ride back to the house. Otherwise it was tasty and loaded with shrimp, beef, pork and chicken. The house noodles, (lo mean), was probably some of the best i have ever had. Great flavor loaded with shrimp, pork, beef, chicken and veggies. My wife had the honey chicken with pork fried rice and was floored by the amazing flavor. This place was so good that I called them back after eating just to tell them how good it was and that we would be back to dine in. Only gave 4 stars due to the rice being a little gummy but as stated before it was probably not the fault of the restaurant but the ride home in the container. I can't speak for my friends dishes, but they were definitely happy. They ordered off the "American" (my words) menu. I ordered a large hot & sour soup (to share) and the pork belly off the "Traditional Chinese" (their words) menu. O.M. YUM! The pork belly was cooked to perfection and melted in my mouth. The soup, while very tasty, did not have all of the ingredients I was hoping for. I will definitely come here when in town again. I'm looking forward to trying more and updating my review. First recommendation is eat in. We walked in as they opened the door at 5pm to order take out took longer then I would have expected. Now portions and flavor made up for it. Order one soup. It is enough for four if you are getting take out. Large entree tests the strength of the to go container since they put so much in. I had the four seasons and it was really good. Son had Orange Chicken and he really liked it. All of the entrees were given the thumbs up. I was surprised in the land of 4x4's and natural springs a Chinese food restaurant would be so good. Hop the locals support it. It is in a WinnDixie strip mall. Go figure. And go give it a try. Now why did I lead with eat in? This is a great Asian restaurant. Always fresh tasting, never overlooked. If you eat in, the service is also great. We live the wonton soup and we have tried several dishes. I usually order a tofu dish and my husband orders different chicken dishes. We have also tried Bruno with vegetables and shrimp with snow peas. Both excellent. I did try the red curry with tofu, but I prefer a little more coconut milk. Otherwise very good. read more

The holy grail for asian food enthusiasts, especially in the southern US, is an Asian restaurant which serves authentic Asian cuisine. Eabyss, in the delightful little town of High Springs (off interstate 75 in the Florida panhandle) is a serious contender for the best Asian food in the South. It's a quite nice little place. It is clean, neat and relatively quiet. The waiting staff are pleasant, friendly and efficient and the cost of a meal represents great value. However, the magic of this place is the quality and authenticity of the fare. I ordered Mongolian beef. Fabulous, spicy hot, fresh and cooked to perfection. My girl had Sichuan chicken. Again, hot and wonderfully delicious. The miso soup was delicious and although it was minus the nori and mushies, it was very, very tasty. The sesame balls to end the meal were sensational. There is only one restaurant which I have eaten at in the South which can match Eabyss...and that is The Smiling Elephant in Nashville. My only complaint about Eabyss is they don't serve non-alcoholic beer. But it is a minor complaint which doesn't significantly detract from the overwhelmingly good experience. It is out of the way and requires a little dedication to find this place...but, believe me, it will be well worth your while. I will be back. read more

I really love the food here! I have been mistakenly passing this place up for months, but no more. It's now my go to place for Asian food. For months I passed it up, because the parking lot was near empty every time I went to the Winn Dixie next door. I made the mistake of thinking an empty parking lot equated to bad food. Boy I was so wrong. I ordered Mae Fun noodles Singapore style and hot/sour soup. The food was very fresh and hot. The hot sour soup is one of my favorite things to eat, but most Chinese buffets ruin it. This restaurant has the best around and serves a huge portion in a bowl for $3.50. I loved the old place and owners but the new owners have put in a lot of effort with the remodel and it shows. A very nice atmosphere has been achieved with modern decor. A lady played the piano while we waited for our food. The waitress was very nice. We ordered honey chicken and general tso chicken. The food was cooked to order with fresh ingredients.
