Initially, I had planned to just come in and grab some type of breakfast dish and a coffee and leave, but after walking past the muffin case, I knew I would have to take some home with me. For my breakfast, I ordered the scramble with turkey sausage and over easy eggs. It was a good classic breakfast and very filling, I would definitely recommend! I of course also ordered a couple of muffins to go and they were all amazing! The cinnamon coffee cake muffin for instance had a cinnamon flavor but I wasn't over powering it was the perfect amount of cinnamon and coffee. Also the muffins transported very well and were still delicious a few hours later. I went mid-morning on a Saturday and it was a little busy, but we were still able to get seated pretty quickly. The place is a full-service restaurant, but they also have a counter where you can order muffins and other baked goods to go. Honestly, the muffins are the main reason I come here. We ordered the biscuits and gravy, which were really tasty, but the highlight was definitely the muffin. Our server suggested ordering one and having it grilled, which I had never tried before and it was so good. They slice it in half and cook it on the griddle so the outside gets caramelized and slightly crispy while the inside stays soft. It completely elevates the muffin and makes it feel more like a dessert than breakfast. A disappointing breakfast. I ordered the grit bowl and was served a bowl devoid of any seasoning. The grits were watery and the tomato, onion and peppers topping them were also watery. Consistently great diner food, and muffins that will make you break any diet. We have never had a bad meal here. Small, unassuming diner tucked in the back corner of the Bealls parking lot across from Newberry Square. They stay busy but even the few times they've run a wait it moves quick. This is one of the best breakfast spots in Gainesville! The food is consistently great and the variety of the menu is awesome! If you do come you must get a muffin as they are fantastic. Also, if dining in ask for it to be grilled as the flavor of your muffin will be enhanced! I had the breakfast burrito and as always was excellent. Filled with your choice of meat, potatoes as well as onion and other veggies and cheese! Also had a side of tomatoes which were nice & ripe and flavorful. I came looking for a good loaded bagel, preferably lox, and was disappointed to find they only offered their bagels with cream cheese or as a breakfast sandwich. I will keep rating this place a 5 star as long as Andrea, my absolute favorite waitress, keeps working there. She makes the establishment the amazing place it is. The food is absolutely delicious every single time, but no place is a 5 star without great service. All the servers are great, but I've never met such a personable server as Andrea. Every time I go, I get to enjoy amazing muffins, freshly baked breads, crispy and well seasoned fries or sweet potato fries, juicy, fresh meat, crisp, flavorful pickles, quality, melty cheese, and more- all served with a smile. I have never been dissatisfied here. I believe the prices increased, not 100% sure, and even though I didn't like that- still wouldn't stop me from coming. This review is only on the muffins, came in, ordered 5 muffins, and brought them home to eat. The staff was kind and friendly, very helpful. The muffins were on the dry side and lacked flavor. Dutch chocolate muffins were the most dry. The pistachio muffin tasted simply like vanilla, not any different from the birthday cake muffin.
