The bar and full tap of beer
TJ S.

I probably would not have found this place, if it weren't for a wake to attend in Agawam. If you have an occation to go to Six Flags, then this may be a good place to come for dinner. It is a bit out of the way, but not that far from the highways. At any rate, a great surprise and great find. My friend from college knows the owner since they were 10 years old! At any rate, they have a wide variety of Italian and American dishes. About a dozen craft beer on tap and additional standard run-of-the-mill Buds, if that is more of your speed. I ordered a chicken marsala over ziti for my main dish. It comes with mixed greens. Appetizers - more chicken! Sriracha buffalo wings and Old Bay seasoning wings - both done to perfection and moist inside. Apparently, chickens are what you have there at EB's, as recommended by my local boy. The marsala sauce had just the right balance of marsala - not too skimpy or too overwhelming. The chicken breast were tenter and moist. The sliced mushrooms were perfectly done - at least for me - not too soft, yet cooked enough to bring out the full mushroom flavor. The ziti was a little too soft for my own personal taste, but my fault for not telling the server to be "al dente." Thea atmosphere is casual. There is a lard bar as you walk in. At first, I was not sure if this place was a bar with small sitting area, or a restaurant that has a large bar. It is the latter. But I guess the local guests like to sit at the bar, as I witnessed that most of the guests seem to do here. I guess the other recommended items are grinders. I will have to make a trek back to this place in the summer to try out their famous grinders.

Fish & Chips Dinner

A hidden gem in Agawam. We kinda was driving by decided where to get lunch. Was very happy we stop in. My husband and I ordered fish and chip and chicken franchise. Everything was so good and the portion was huge we actually had leftovers and the price so reasonable . We also had a nice server, very attentive. Definitely give EB's Restaurant a try. They have all kind of specials on certain days. This restaurant is for sure on our list.

Here's the new bar.

What can I say... I'm a millennial who loves nostalgia…read more So when it came time to meet up with a dear friend back home, where else would we meet but Red Rose? We've both celebrated many a special occasion here in the 90s and this time was no different. I was extremely happy to see that absolutely nothing had changed. That kind of reliability is exactly what you want from your favorite restaurant back home. You basically want to leave it in a time capsule and walk back in after 30 years to find it right as you had left it. The place was bustling per usual. The server was fantastic. The wine was great. The house salad and house dressing were so good they made me want to scarf down vegetables. But the meatball grinder... THE MEATBALL GRINDER!!! (I now live in a place where we call them subs, but nothing compares to a good grinder.) It was culinary perfection: the bread was golden and crispy on the outside and soft and warm on the inside. The perfect balance of bread, sauce, cheese, and meatball. And the flavor of the meatball itself was perfectly seasoned and balanced. I'm already 100 miles away and I'm still thinking about it and will be for days... weeks... MONTHS! Until next time

They gave us a buzzer, told us it would be about 25 minutes, and we went into the bar to have a glass of wine and wait. I must say the chaos was beautifully controlled. Lots of room in the bar, and a spot to order drinks if you couldn't get a seat at the bar. Generous pour on the wine. And sure enough, about 25 minutes later our table was ready. Waitress was friendly, helpful, professional. Servings were more than ample. Fried calamari appetizer was delicious, crispy, not at all greasy. My daughter really enjoyed her chicken dish. I, however, was disappointed, and I blame myself. I should know better than to order eggplant at a restaurant. If I'm ordering eggplant rollatini, I'd like to taste the eggplant. I don't know why restaurants insist on slicing it so thin that you can't actually taste the eggplant, just the breading. It's not that it's an expensive ingredient, it's gotta be cheaper than the cheese....anyway, I'd go back but hopefully I have learned my lesson - if I want to taste eggplant, I'll cook it myself.
