The Good: - Food was delicious (Orange Chicken $13 lunch) - Dinner was Orange Cirspy Beef, BBQ Pork noodles, and Wonton Soup Food portions were generous - Loved the spacious, modern new interior The Bad - On a Saturday night, bad service This is an updated review after a Thursday lunch, which was a very good experience, and their first Saturday night, was not so good. Over the years, my favorite Chinese places have disappeared, such as Yen Ching and Green China in Orange, Chinatown and China West in Irvine. Those are places that were clean inside, and overall delicious food, and great staff that were nicely dressed. Thankfully this new place was all those things, at least at lunch, BUT NOT AT DINNER. It's a good menu, everything I like including the usual favorites but also some dumplings, crab and lobster, and vegetables. We need to eat more veggies. At lunch, It took about 10 minutes at 1:30 PM on a Monday to get my food after ordering. First was the egg drop soup and it was HOT, the way I like it, not warm or watered down. The Orange Chicken was crispy, sweet, and a little on the hot side especially if you eat the small little pieces of pepper. I loved the texture, tender inside and crisp on the outside. Dinner was a BAD experience No complaints about the food - but those take home containers can be tough to open. Got there at 7:45 and seated around 8 PM and gave our order. After 15 minutes, the waiter comes back with the soup . But he tells us he forgot what our entrees were, as well as my beer. And he wrote it down earlier! So he had to resubmit my order. We were not the only one unhappy with the service. A party seated about the same time as us left the restaurant after 25 minutes and cancelled their foor order. No one came by for a long time to clean up the soup plates or refill my friend's soda. By then, we had been in the restaurant almost 45 minutes, still hungry and angry..."hangry". People who got there way after us got their food before us! Then I realized, out waiter disappeared. I had to flag down another waiter to ask what happened to our order. He thankfuly brought it out a few minutes later. We were there until after 9:15 PM. No one came by to check to see how we were doing. In many restaurants, even the manager or owner does that. So until they have these issues resolved, I'm not coming back. read more

Fans of the former Sam Woo Seafood Restaurant Irvine rejoice!!! Ever since Sam Woo Irvine (the fancy restaurant not the express BBQ) closed, I have been trying every Chinese restaurant in the vicinity of Irvine, Tustin, Orange, Westminster, Santa Ana area trying to find a restaurant that was on par and offered authentic Chinese at fair prices and portions large enough to have leftovers for take home. Yep that's a lot of Chinese restaurants I visited in an attempt to find a Sam Woo replacement. Finding Chinese restaurants on par with Dynasty was easy - if you're willing to drive to Monterey Park and Alhambra, not so in Orange County. After several months of ordering the exact same menu items at these restaurants to better compare each, I came across Yang Min and Royal Wok, both in Orange. If Dynasty is a solid 5, Royal Wok and Yang Min are low 4's. In my opinion, Royal Wok offers excellent value for the money and Yang Min is a somewhat close second to Dynasty, although Yang Min's prices are higher and portions smaller in comparison. Dynasty was actually one of the last ones I tried. I remember the location from a prior restaurant, but didn't realize that a new one/Dynasty had taken over. The prior restaurant was not memorable. So I again ordered my usual and got take-out, since we were still in the middle of Covid shutdowns. I was pleasantly surprised by the authenticity, large portions and fair prices of the menu items I ordered. If I had any doubts about the Head Chef's training and background being a gimmick, those doubts completely disappeared after my first order. The interior of the restaurant is well appointed and elegant, very suitable for family meals, or for entertaining guests. I also like that the Chef is very accommodating to individual requests and I can be particular about how I like my dinner. Some Chefs find this annoying, yet I have never gotten any attitude at Dynasty. In fact, it has always been service with a smile for me. BTW, Dynasty's take out bag is consistently very well and thoughtfully packed to survive the trip home without any spills in the car. This is the first and only Chinese restaurant to date that I've come across that double wraps its take out container in a secondary thick plastic bag. I appreciate this, having had more than my share of spilled meat sauce on my leather seats and trunk space from leaky or uneven take out containers, not to mention keeping the food piping hot until ready to serve. Those of us within reasonable driving distance to Dynasty is lucky to have a Chinese restaurant of this caliber in a location where parking is easy and area is safe. There is no way to take a stroll to work off a full tummy in Monterey Park after dinner, or park a fancy car in a public lot without having to worry about safety. Dynasty Orange is a rare gem, every 5 star review is well deserved. I cannot sing enough praises about this restaurant. I won't post any recommendations here, again, Chinese food can be subjective. What one person finds flavorful, another could find too salty. I would suggest ordering your usual and request adjustments according to your individual taste. For me, it took a couple of tries (requests to the Chef) before it became perfection. So if your first visit wasn't perfect, take note of what you didn't like and try it again with a request to the Chef. Excellent restaurant all around. Highly recommend. read more

This dining experience ruined our Father's Day celebration! We went as a family of 10 for dinner on Father's Day 6/21/26 and had a reservation at 7:30 pm. We were seated only 8 pm despite more then half the restaurant being empty. It was obvious that they were very understaffed despite knowing it will be busy on Father's Day. Only 1-2 servers for the whole restaurant. In the beginning we were all understanding of the fact that it is a busy day however our patience quickly dissipated when nobody took our order for almost 45 minutes after sitting down. We conveyed that kids were hungry and to please bring dishes as they were ready. Finally after 1 hour, the owner places a bowl of white rice in front of us stating that this was the LAST rice and they ran out. Kids finally ate white rice for dinner out of frustration and hunger. Please keep in mind that the owner was neither apologetic nor forthcoming that the kitchen was so delayed and our ordered dishes would take yet another 30 minutes to come out. Finally, after sitting for 1.5 hours in the restaurant, dishes came out one at a time. Orange chicken was tasty but everything else seemed rushed and bland. We left very frustrated by the service and lack of organization from management. We would have appreciated if they were honest about the delay and that they ran out of ingredients. We would have gladly gone elsewhere and had a more enjoyable evening! I usually do not write bad reviews however this entire experience of was unacceptable as a paying customer. read more

Stopped by here for lunch after being told this was a really good place from my boss. We tried the Chinese green beans, sweet and sour soup, and chow mein. This place has to have the best hot and sour soup that I've ever had. It's tangy yet sweet and had a lot of mushrooms, tofu and eggs in it so that each bite was filling instead of just slurping up the soup. A real sad soggy experience: We ordered the shrimp with scallions, the basil fish filet and the crispy orange beef all of which are either battered and should be served crispy. All three dishes were extremely soggy. When we complained the waiter simply dismissed our complaint saying we should have ordered the sauces on the side. How are we to know that? We felt If the kitchen is less than 50 feet from your table shouldn't the crispness be able to withstand the 30 second walk to our table? They also do serve the American style Chinese food with good lunch specials. Decor is modern, bright, but sticks with the Asian aesthetic. Has a bistro feel and servers are great, efficient, and speak multiple languages. Food was delicious and price wasn't too bad. Portions were overall decent. My go to for Chinese food in Orange. The food here is of good quality, flavorful, and consistent across multiple visits. Our favorites include the pan fried noodles and garlic bok Choi. Overall the servings are large so it works well for larger groups. Space is clean and modern. We've been here about ten times since they became Dynasty. I've frequented Cantonese restaurants in the SF Bay Area growing up and I was finding it hard to find restaurants in this area that gave me the same taste, however with Dynasty - I believe I've found it. Hong Kong style Pan fried noodle dishes have been a nostalgic dish for me and oddly I haven't been able to find it lately in the area so I was looking forward trying it here - it did not disappoint. Other Chinese restaurants I've ordered from, although good - sometimes felt on the heavy side or did not travel well through delivery however this wasn't the case. We ordered delivery online and the food came fairly quickly, still hot and packaged well. The sauce of the HK style Pan Fried fried noodle was satisfying, savory yet still light and packed appropriately to keep the fried noodles maintain the signature texture during its delivery trip. We also ordered egg rolls - they kept crispy and the Honey Walnut Shrimp dish was a decent portion and also delicious. This is the second time dining at Dynasty. Our first experience was during their grand opening. The service was less than desirable as it took forever for the food to come and they forgot a key dish, servers were rude and ignored us and the manager did not apologize nor addressed the missing dish. Needless to say, we hadn't been back for a couple of years. Went to meet friends there for dinner recently and was VERY pleasantly surprised! The ambience is as it was then can be described as casual elegant. The restaurant had a few patrons but wasn't overly busy. We had the house fried rice, shrimp siu mai, honey garlic pork chops and garlic green beans. Everything was EXCELLENT! We were informed at ordering that the siu mai would take 20 minutes which we were fine with. The dish portions were perfect and satisfied all 4 of us. The fried rice was great and loaded with beef, chicken, shrimp a few veggies and was NOT greasy. The green beans were crispy, seasoned perfectly - not salty or wilted and fresh. The honey garlic pork chops were the HIT of the night. The cut of pork used was great, not full of fat or muscle, tender, and flavorful without the sauce being overwhelming. The siu mai came last which was very tasty and fresh. We enjoyed the meal - and the service was good, the food excellent and the ambiance was casual and relaxed. I'm ok with that because its easy to see that the staff is hustling and working hard. Considering the location, I imagine the food caters more to the local area. Its certainly not like premium this is the best chinese food I've had (you can go to SGV for that), but it is some of the best cantonese that I've had local to me. The location is convenient. They seated us immediately and brought over high chairs for my kids. Service was great and always had staff checkin on us. I got their pork juicy dumpling, pot stickers, and fish fillets with peppers and black bean sauce. I LOVE their pork juicy dumpling. Though I got it togo, it was soooo good and SO JUICY! Their fish fillets with peppers and black bean sauce was also phenomenal and they packed the takeout box! The pot stickers were a fail for me though. I think they did not cook it thoroughly, or rather, warmed/fried it thoroughly. The dough in their pot sticker was super thick and I think they only cooked it enough that the dough melted into the meat and that was it. Not good and did not taste that good either. I was super excited to see a new Cantonese restaurant open up in OC because it's extremely hard to find this cuisine nowadays without venturing out to San Gabriel. However, I'm disappointed to say the food here is mediocre at best and maybe a slight step above Panda Express in terms of menu offerings, but not so much in flavor. Garlic Pea Shoots This actually didn't taste bad - 4 out of 5, minusing one point for saltiness. It came out first, so it was quite promising, just a tad salty. This dish also had the wok hei flavor, so I was pretty stoked to get the rest of our food. Honey garlic pork 2 out of 5 Typically, at most Cantonese restaurants, these come as thin, beaten pork chops, with a crispy breaded exterior and a flavor of salty, sweet and garlic. This pork that came out was thick pork loins with a pretty flat flavor profile of honey. Although the dish had ample garlic, the taste did not shine through. The thickness of the pork also made a crispy exterior impossible. These were so sickeningly sweet that my co-worker who generally enjoys sweet stopped eating this dish. Everybody scarfed down, veggies, rice, and water to remove the taste from their mouth since it was so sweet. Seafood chow mein 1 out of 5 We actually ordered the house special chow mein but instead received the seafood chow mein. It was suggested to us, but I politely declined since one of my co-workers only likes shrimp. Well, the customer isn't always right, I guess, and we ended up getting it anyway. The seafood wasn't very fresh and looked like mixed bag variety seafood. There was also a lone mussel, which I thought was interesting since it isn't even mussel season but, sure ok. Aside from the seafood not being very fresh, the noodles had no wok hei flavor, and the dish wasn't as flavorful as the pea shoots or the pork. Two delicacy barbecue with roast pork and barbecue pork 1 out of 5 This dish was served at room temperature, which was really off-putting. The fat on the roast pork was way too thin, and it definitely wasn't the belly portion that it usually should be. The barbecue pork wasn't marinated long enough, either. Service was ok. Our waters were always full, they packed our doggie bag to go, although improperly because our two delicacy barbecue ended up leaking since the server thought they should pack the bed of oil the barbecue lay in instead of just the pieces. Plating for the food looked nice but left a lot to be desired in terms of taste. The ambiance is nice - the restaurant is nicely renovated and the furniture is nice. Overall, if you have friends who grew up on Cantonese or legit Chinese food, this place will miss the mark even by Irvine standards where the bar is typically low. However, if you are entertaining friends who don't eat Chinese food outside the realm of Panda Express or PF Changs, this might be a good place to bring them to so they can try other dishes. read more

This restaurant space has turned a few times. Service was very good as I had the lunch special. However there are silverware at the table and not chopsticks. You have no choice on your soup for the lunch special. The chef makes only one soup a day. The restaurant was filled with Asians however it remains to be seen if they will return. I had the kung pao chicken lunch special. The egg roll was not crunchy and the filling was slimy. My kung pao chicken was one note, spicy hot. For the chef who is awarded, I was disappointed. I usually try the kung pao or cashew chicken when trying a new Asian restaurant. I was not impressed and felt I could get the same or better food at a Panda Express. read more

I have been here 3 times before. Food was always good but service could use some improvement. Today I ordered a lunch special: string bean w/chicken. Specials are served w/soup & egg roll Only ate 1/2 the entree + egg roll. When I asked for to-go containers they only brought a container for the entree. When I asked again for a soup container I was told that they wont provide a container for the soup. As my waiter approached & brought my bill I asked how they provide soup for take out orders? He further explained that the new owner considers the soup and egg roll free w/the lunch specials. Therefore, you can't take the soup home. It is my opinion that the soup and egg roll are combined in the price I paid for the lunch special. The interior ambiance is great, very modern and a great wine selection. I've been here twice for the amazing lunch special. I'm so discerning with it that my main gripe about living in OC for the past 10 years is the lack of a quality Cantonese restaurant.
