Their food was disgusting, workers were nice and service wasn't bad but still probably the worst Chinese I've ever tasted.

walking in, it smells funky. The best word to describe it. Then we get seated. My 14 yr old won't sit by the wall because the whole place appeared dirty. The food selection was okay, not what it was years ago. Lo Mein ended up having a funky taste, and the "orange chicken" I could not even chew. The ice cream was nasty, my son took one bite and made a funny face. We get our check, and I did not think it was work, $55 for 2 adults and 2 kids. Server comes back and ends up saying, sorry it is $74 for dinner. I was speechless!!! I would never ever suggest eating here to anyone. I felt dirty and gross and the food was awful. We could have ate somewhere far better in Valpo for $75! read more

Traveling on Christmas Day, across states, doesn't leave many options for eating. We knew Chinese places are often open so we searched the Valpo area for them since that's where we were at lunch time. We were thrilled to find somewhere to eat and a buffet, even better because our young children could find something to eat. The parking lot was really busy so this had to be a great place. We continued in with high hopes. There was a small line but it moved quickly and we were seated within five minutes of arriving. Our waiter found us and took our drinks orders very quickly too. I took our five year old daughter up to the buffet lines first. There was a cold bar, dessert bar, ice cream, fruit and jello bar, sushi bar, hibachi grill line, hot food bar (non-Chinese), and two Chinese hot food bars. Tons of options! As I moved from bar to bar, I noticed the dirty plates people had found and created a new stack next to the clean ones. I understand the dishwasher can't always get everything cleaned but this seemed like more than "normal." The floor around the bars was slick and looked extremely dirty. Luckily, the actual food looked edible and clean. We made a few selections for her and headed back to our booth. Once back at the booth, our daughter pointed out that the wallpaper was peeling off the walls. At this point, I was really leery of this place. We continued to make trips to the bars and with each trip, I became more and more leery of everything. Yet, the restaurant continued to fill. There were large groups coming in. I kept wondering what I was missing about this place that so many people were coming here. We were simply passing through town and knew nothing prior to arriving. Surely these people were locals? The food was ok. It certainly wasn't something to write home about and I was wishing we didn't get sick from it. Our daughter needed to use the bathroom so my husband took her since our son had become very clingy to me. Upon returning, he told me how disgusting the men's restroom was. Later on, she needed to go again so I took her to the women's. She immediately commented how much better that bathroom smelled (yet I thought it smelled horrible). There is a changing table in the women's and I opened it to see if I'd be willing to change our son there. It had food on the changing table part. We paid and left, again hoping to not get sick. Dynasty is literally the best Chinese buffet I have ever been to hands down. I don't know what they do to their green beans, but they are some of the best green beans I have ever had in my life. The chicken is always moist and delish, and they immediately refill the food when it's run out. Their dessert section is always amazing as well, and the little cakes are superb. read more

This is perhaps the one and only Chinese buffet in Valparaiso, IN, hence the elevated hype from everybody in town. The place is usually packed especially when events are held, primarily by the Chinese & Japanese Department and Confucius Institute, and on the weekends after Sunday mass. Dynasty Buffet is also difficult to miss since it's located on a strip of mall right outside the college campus. There is a range of Chinese selection but nobody should be surprised, after all isn't that the purpose of a buffet? I've definitely been to better buffets with a much wider selection, but this is as good as it gets in good, ol' Valpo for a cheap price. Much of the food is soaked in oil but it can be a tasty treat from time to time. There is also a sushi bar to the back of the buffet. There are pre-made sushi rolls to choose from and customers can also request makis and rolls of preference. I'd usually order the unagi maki and it's pretty decent. (Be sure to leave the guy a small tip after making a special request.) Definitely not amazing but it's an ideal choice for poor college students to get stuffed. read more

There was a cockroach in my daughters food and her father was still asked to pay and only told the pan of dumplings had been thrown out. To have a cockroach in your food like these means they have a horrible infestation. read more

This is my favorite Chinese buffet anywhere, hands down! They can get busy during high meal times for lunch and dinner, especially on the weekends. Their prices are definitely reasonable for an All you can eat buffet! They have a sushi bar, wide selection of fresh fruit, salad bar, and dessert bar and ice cream available along with their three main entree areas. They always keep their food stocked, keep the counter space clean, and are very attentive to removing dirty plates and refilling drinks. They could use the money they get to remodel some decor inside and make updates, but the food and service is always good! read more

If I could give it zero star I would. I have had several experiences. From finding a blue acrylic in my food to seeing cockroaches. you would think during the pandemic they would do something with that disgusting bathroom. we have been eating there for years and that is what we were looking forward to was a spruced up bathroom and change of decor in the dining room. i told my cousin from shererville to meet us there but apologized for the stinky bathroom and dinginess. she said if you want a nice chinese buffet meet us sometime in shererville. and..................you would think after the many comments in yelp they would do something about the bathrooms and decor. if they can't read english get someone that can. the food is good but the decor is dingy. they used to have strawberry sauce for the sugar donuts but they don't anymore. that was always my desert. sugar donuts and strawberry sauce to dunk the donuts in. read more

Although virtually no Chinese restaurants in the U.S. is authentic Chinese food, Dynasty Buffet is just bad. As a native Chinese, I did not find myself to be entertained by the cuisine. As far as buffets go it was good. My take on buffets is that it's the best and worst of American culture. Best in the sense of the wide range of choice. Worst is the sense of you feel like you have to get your money's worth so it encourages overeating. This buffet is kind of like one of those Ronco products you would buy on tv. Of course there's General Tso's chicken, sweet and sour pork, and other typical Chinese food. But wait! There's more! Sushi and teriyaki chicken (even though it's Japanese, the sushi roll was decent)! But wait, there's more! How about pizza (seriously, at a Chinese restaurant)!! Oh wait, there's more! Meatballs! What buffet doesn't serve meatballs? That was classic! The best part? The sesame rice balls at the end were very good (jin duei). I can't put in words how much I love this place! The prices are good and the food is very very fresh for a buffet. They have a wide assortment of food to choose from too. The Coconut Shrimp is my all time favorite. They even have pizza and other "non-Chinese" food for those picky eaters that are along for the ride. Aside from the main course they have a great selection of deserts. Go for the self serve ice cream (not soft serve either, which makes me happy they have mint chocolate chip as a selection). And you must try the sugar donuts...YUM! The service is always fast and speedy and the are very nice. The overall cleanliness of this restaurant is very clean, which makes me even more of a fan of this place. I've eaten here more times that I can count. As far as Chinese buffets go, this is a good option. The food is hot and fresh, and they are always busy (especially on the weekends). I like going for lunch because it is cheaper, and my son eats free! My favorites are the green beans, sushi, steak (served only at dinner), and the large selection of fresh fruit. My son loves the lo-mein noddles, fruit, and fried rice. They have an actual sushi chef on hand to make custom creations for you as well. Well, service is always excellent. Very disappointed in the buffet this evening. The noodles were seriously overcooked. Many of the chicken dishes were soggy. They added new food on top of old food, actually saw a lady server doing this on the buffet. The cake is always dried out. They need a covering on the desserts so they aren't dried. Me and husband have been here a few times the food is very tasty and I love the crab rangoon. However the service is hit or miss, it really depends on who you get and one time the girl didn't even give my husband a spoon for his hot tea or his ice cream. I guess she expected him to stir it with his hands like the blond girl in Vacation. Another time there were no soup or ice cream bowls available and the salad bar had no olives. Slightly above the typical strip mall Chinese buffet. The difference between 2 and 3 stars is the inconsistency. Sometimes the coconut shrimp is perfectly crisp with a light coating of sauce - other times it's soggy, drowning in sauce, and you can taste the flour in the sauce. The sushi bar usually has a decent selection, and they will make specific types if you request it (just be prepared to leave a cash tip in the jar, unless you're a jerk). However, it can be difficult to approach the sushi "chef" sometimes since a few of them are clearly less than enthused about their job (sitting on their phone during hours, absent from their post, etc.). I've never gotten ill from the fish though, so props on prep! One highlight that actually is consistent here is the crab rangoon - they have a good balance of crab to cream cheese and are nicely fried and crispy. This is not where you go to impress, or for a special occaison, but it can be a good after-church spot with the kids (they have 6 types of scoop your own ice cream and a full desert and fruit bar). When you go to pay, they look at your table to see if you left a tip. I'll never understand why we have to tip them to begin with, considering we go and get our own food. We drive 20 miles to go to this place. Good assortment on the buffet. They also has sushi (which I don't eat; reminds me of fish bait) and a stir fry where you pick the ingredients and the cook cooks it up. Good selection on the desert buffet. A notch above the typical Chinese buffet. read more
