The service is typical of that of any other buffet dinning experience, you will be greeted at the door and pointed to a table. As far as asking for drinks, it will be deliberately quick and not much checking on your table throughout the meal. The food is average to above average on particular dishes. I would recommend the glazed shrimp and orange chicken. They also have some great fried rice. Other than that I would avoid the sushi at this location like the black plague. This is a wonderful Chinese buffet hidden in a strip mall. The trays of hot and cold food include noodles, roasts of steak and chicken, seafood, sushi, a large selection of fresh fruit and salad. The friendly staff replenish the trays constantly. Seating is ample and comfy- we always sit at a booth. After you have stuffed yourself, there is a freezer of locally made delicious ice cream in eight flavors including the one called blue moo. There's not a lot of variety between visits. The restaurant has a variety on the buffet, but the dishes never seem to change. I think 3 stars is a fair valuation. The environment, furniture, etc are okay, nothing fancy, but all is in a relatively good shape. Waiter was cleaning the table timely. The food, however, was a bit of disappointment. Poor choice of seafood (for dinner), even General Tso's chicken is so-so. Chinese selection is fantastic. From fried rice to ice cream for desert. Salad bar with fruit and sometimes shrimp. Service is right on. Never a problem getting seated. Either table or booth, your choice. Eat there quite often. read more

Ahh the "Nasty" buffet. They had amazing food for the first couple months they were open, then the "I you can eat" across town went out of business and its been downhill ever since. Myself and friends used to eat here almost every saturday. Now it's a chore to convince me to go. The only joy i get out of going here any more is watching people give themselves third degree burns in the bathroom because if you are unlucky enough to be washing your hands when someone flushes the urinal your hands will be dowsed in lava. I think they took the authentic thing too far when they got the dragon as the hot water heater. I also like the fact that on the raised platform dining area there is usually a sign spelled out in mailbox letters that said "Watch your step." for the longest time the O, U, and R were missing and it read "Watchy step," which made me giggle and also added to the authentic china feel. The food is pretty standard for a buffet of this kind. They have about 30 different kinds of dessert that all have the same flavor..... cardboard. They have a salad bar that is legendary with local doctors and stores within a block that sell toilet paper. The sushi bar is the only saving grace. read more

As long as you aren't looking for some fancy, perfectly-prepared-food buffet, this is a great place to eat. There are a few things that you have to look past to learn to love this place like I have (and I've been going for years!) such as the (rarely) warm fruit, the (often) messy ice cream bar, or the (sometimes) fatty chicken. Sometimes stuff like that happens there, but you just learn to move on and try something else, it all tastes good! (even the salt and pepper squid ;) ) OH! And before I go, I was appalled that no one else mentioned the rice noodles! TRY THE RICE NOODLES! They don't look like much, just very thin, white noodles with some veggies and herbs in it, but man are they good! I get a heaping pile EVERY time I go back for more food, and I'm willing to bet that by the time I leave, I've eaten a full plate of them :) I just wish I knew how to make them! :o read more

IN the "Porter County Restaurant Reviews" on Facebook, posted last evening: I went to Dynasty In Valpo for dinner. If you have any kind of handicap you might want to stay clear of there. Seems the people working there enjoy taking your photo and showing it to other employees. There was a very large woman (over 400lbs) she was eating dinner with a couple friends. She paid for that dinner and deserved the respect of privacy like everyone else......I was shocked when I witnessed 2 waitresses laughing at her then one followed as she walked out and started taking pictures with her cell phone. She then shared these photos with a co-worker and they laughed. Pissed me off! That poor woman didn't know she was being photographed and I am sure she wouldn't have liked it. Not sure I'll go back there. Still trying to decide if I want to call the radio station. Won't do a bit of good to call a manager I think they are all family. Why anyone would even want to patronize a place like this is beyond me. Boycott it, and tell everyone and anyone to do the same read more

It wasn't too bad, but I wouldn't make it a regular place to eat. The restaurant is decorated nicely, plenty of booths for private conversations during your meal. There is plenty of choices, I liked the meatballs, potatoes, peanut butter chicken. There is a large selection of fruit and deserts. I like the frosted peanuts and the doughnuts were actually fresh and soft. They do have staff to cook up what you want in stir fry. The staff was friendly and efficient. There really isn't anything wrong with this place and the price is right . We are still looking for one like our favorite that closed in Valpo at a strip mall. read more

They crush up dietary pills and put them in your drinks. They will give you a refill every time you get up and get food. If your drink is more then half an inch below the rim they will force a refill on you, no matter how many times u say no. read more

I was a frequent costumer who went to Dynasty at least once a week with my family. After seeing these comments on Yelp, I couldn't believe it was true. But yesterday, I went in for Dinner, and my server said that the photo situation was fake. I have a bit concern with my server, her English was a bit rude, and she acted like she knew nothing. Personally, I think the servers should be honest... also, after going to dynasty all this time, the food yesterday was definitely the worse I had. Many things were dry and my kids didn't liked it. It's a good place, but for us, we just think that the attitude of the servers, and the organization of the restaurant should be better. Also, the manager doesn't seem to understand what a manager should be in charge of. Ultimately, everything starts with the manager. read more

I used to love this place the food was good and the price wasnt that bad. However the last 2 times my wife and I went there have been a lot of knats or baby flies, flying around the desert tables and the dinner tables as well. Considering there isn't many other china buffets to chose from in the Valparaiso area this place is just okay. They have a wide selection, but I wasn't impressed with the flavor. Everything was either too salty or had no flavor at all - just bland and...there. The steak they had sitting out actually looked really under cooked even... 2 weeks ago i took the family there as we usually do once a month or more. the food wasnt all that great on taste. it USED to be superb but been fastly going down in quality. the fruit wasnt prepared right by that i mean it was sliced/cut wrong leaving skin ur not suppose to it on it (the cantaloupe). we got home (10min away n got sick that quick. the ceiling was gushing water between the food serving area and bathrooms.they had 3 or 4 5gal buckets catching the water along w the dish trays they carry dirty dishes in catching it and one guy is all he did was emptying buckets. they should have shut down but didnt. but feel it a matter of time til BOH shuts them down. wont be going here again. read more

I arrived here at 3:20 = lunch. When I got my check, the waitress told me that I was going to pay dinner prices and asked if that was okay. I said that it wasn't because I got here at lunch and had already ate my first plate by 3:30. Anyway, my waitress said she would go talk to someone and she grabbed my credit card that was sitting on the table. When she came back I was surprised to see that she charged my card the full dinner price. I would never again eat there. My teenager and I were craving some Asian cuisine so we came in and had the worst food we've ever eaten. Rock hard cold chicken. Or shall I say what was supposed to be chicken. Dead bugs on the counter next to our booth. Tasteless initiation pork egg rolls. Super soggy dumplings. But the desserts were very good. But then again how can you mess up fruit. Told the rude lady behind the counter who did not even care or try to clean the dead bugs up.
