Unfortunately, it looks like I'll have to drive to Carmel if I want Dutch Door donuts again. I walked past this place five times during my morning walk and kept eyeing it. At first, I saw the $5 price for a donut and thought, "That's ridiculous--no way." But eventually I decided not to be too judgmental and gave it a try. The staff was delightful and let me know the donuts are made to order, so it might take a few minutes. When I finally got mine, my first thought was, "They're not charging enough!" Great twist on your donut fix! This place doesn't make your donuts until you order, ensuring a hot steaming treat every time. I couldn't decide so I stuck to the browned butter and a beignet, and opted to also try the savory rosemary Parmesan donut. The rosemary donut was really good. It almost tasted like a bread stick and came with marinara to dip. 7/10 The browned butter donut was my favorite. The donut itself is not overly sweet but the icing was and they perfectly balanced each other out. It was a bit of a sticky situation though 9/10 The beignet was perfectly cooked, light and airy and dusted with powdered sugar. I liked how it was a good balance between light and airy and chewy. 8/10 Coffee was good also. 10/10 nice experience to bring the kids on a weekend or for a nice treat. Freshly made donuts are such a treat, but eating a beignet that was fried to order is why I would return here again. For donuts, they're on the pricier side. The apple fritter ran us around $9 which was just not worth it to me. By comparison, the beignets were $8 for three and suited my preferences in better in terms texture and sweetness. The apple fritter was very sweet and dense, whereas the beignets were fluffy and lightly sweetened by the powdered sugar. I enjoyed the seasonal Meyer lemon flavor, and the vanilla glaze was delicious as well -- hard to go wrong with a classic. There was plenty of parking in the area across the street by the park on the day we visited, and there are two tables inside so we were able to eat our donuts right after they were made. This is a relatively new place, When we arrived, I didn't realize that they make each doughnut fresh as soon as you've chosen the ones you want. It doesn't take much time, which is excellent. You get a fresh, warm donut. All I can say is you got me there, and I may not stop coming, The orange cranberry glaze was my absolute favorite. I thought would love the chocolate, but still very, very good. The ambience nice, what's cool is that you can really see everything. When they're making the donuts, sort of behind the scenes, through glass windows, service is good, it's fast, you can't beat it. The donuts I bought were delicious, it's just a cute little place, everybody seems very excited about it, and all I can say is I was very enthusiastic about getting a fresh, hot doughnut. We were taking a stroll around Healdsburg plaza and just happened to come upon this place. The Gravenstein apple cider donut was calling my name. I love that they even specify the type of apple. What donut place does that?! A group of us all walked in. Easy to order. Friendly service. Minimal wait for the donuts and they came out piping hot. Definitely tests your patience as I had to wait a little bit before it cooled down enough to eat. Donuts were light and airy and the flavors lived up to their names. Also couldn't resist the beignet seeing it on the menu and that also did not disappoint. I can't have donuts without coffee and their latte was the perfect foil to the sweet although honestly nothing I tried was "too sweet." What a unique place. To be honest, I wasn't expecting much when I walked in the door. I've had good donuts (Sidecar Doughnuts in San Diego) so the expectations here were low. There was no display case but there were 8 flavors to choose from, with most unique. I chose Meyer Lemon and Chocolate as my safe choice. It took 10 minutes for it to come out and once it came out I understood why. The donuts were warm! I don't think I've ever had warm donuts . The frosting on top coated the donut. The smell of fresh donuts is amazing. But the taste is even more amazing than I can describe. You really taste the freshness in the dough as you bite down into the fluffiness. I got a maple covered doughnut, which are absolutely my favorite and these did not disappoint. I had other others in the past where the dough is super heavy and you just feel full from eating half the doughnut but these donuts are nice and airy and definitely don't feel you feeling that like there's a rock in your stomach. I honestly don't understand how this place gets good reviews. The donuts are absolutely drenched in oil -- so greasy that's all you can taste. For a minimum of $5 per donut, you'd expect something special, but instead, you're basically paying for overpriced fryer oil and bland dough. The only hint of flavor comes from the icing on top, and even that can't cover up how heavy and unpleasant these are.
