Strudel me crazy but I love this place! The first time I tasted their strudel was during the Wednesday Night Farmer's Market on 2nd Street near next to theater square. I was leaving a restaurant & walked right smack dab in the middle of the farmer's market. After drooling, I mean looking at the various flavors that Simply Strudels had to offer I ended up buying a whole vanilla bean strudel mainly because the person selling the strudels said that it can be kept in the freezer until ready to serve whether it be whole or just slicing a piece off to defrost & eat. I took my first bite & was sold, hook, line & strudel, I mean sinker! I had seen over the years that Simply Strudels had opened a store front but never had the opportunity to stop by as their hours of operation conflicted with work. But one fine early morning I happened to be driving on Petaluma Blvd., South & noticed the open sign & thought to myself "self, you haven't had breakfast so stop in & get some strudel." So glad I listened to myself! So on this particular day I opted to buy 2 savory portions (1 for that morning & 1 for the next day. Bacon, cheddar & potato and garlic, spinach potato) as well as one sweet portion (fresh meyer lemon cheese strudel). OMG TOO DIE FOR!!! The savory strudels were perfection, I mean I could eat those every day for breakfast! I that fresh meyer lemon cheese strudel was Heaven on a plate, so fresh, crisp & lemony! The place is not overly huge, there are places to sit & eat. They have various savory & sweet strudels for sale as full logs or a portion. Some may think the prices are high but you're getting a handmade strudel that's made with all fresh ingredients & you don't have to stand in the kitchen & make it, someone else has done the work for you. I think it's worth it! They also have a coffee menu so you can get a regular old coffee, espresso, latte, etc. Oh & if you're so incline you can order online for pick up in their store front or order via DoorDash for pick up in their store or for delivery. A great little spot to grab a coffee, listen to some chill tunes & relax. Was needing a cappuccino to start my day and strolled over to give this spot a try. Stepped in on a Saturday morning and it was empty and quiet. There were some delicious looking baked goods, but wasn't ready for a bite. Had a seat in one of the comfy chairs, while I waited for my cappuccino. They brought my capp to me. Nice! Cappuccino was perfect and I stayed longer than I expected because I enjoyed the atmosphere. read more

Tasty Latte It was very late in the day on a Saturday when we stopped here for the first time. The place was almost closed. We needed caffeine and a restroom! Sadly, the restroom was not available for customers, but the gentleman who was there was very friendly and made awesome coffee drinks. We grabbed our coffee drinks and jumped back in the car looking for a restroom, but I must say the latte was very good and I enjoyed it after the emergency situation was addressed. The place looks nice and has pleasant interior. Maybe next time I am around I stop by for more than a latte. read more

This place is literally the best place ever no exaggeration! The vibe is really chill and relaxing. You walk in and you're greeted with a very warm welcome. The owner is super nice with great staff! Someone brought out my order to me which was nice. Some strudels run out pretty fast because they're just that good. I would recommend getting there early or stopping by in the afternoon. You will have to find off street parking which isn't a major issue I was able to park in a neighborhood right next door to the establishment. I tried the Apple Cranberry Strudel along with a latte. The Strudels are hand rolled fresh so not a long wait at all. This coffee tastes better than Starbucks and the local favorite Acre in my opinion. I also met two amazing locals while enjoying my strudel and latte. Petaluma is filled with amazing people who very welcoming and friendly. I can't wait to come back and visit. read more

We saw this place opened up recently and randomly decided to check it out, and were so glad we did! Never having had strudels before, we had no idea what to expect so we ordered a couple ready-to-eat strudels: one sweet, the vanilla cheese, and one savory, the bacon cheddar potato. The bacon cheddar potato was warm with super flaky, almost glass-like crust, filled with cheesy, bacony, garlicky potatoes - so good! The vanilla cheese was served cold. The filling reminded me of a cheesecake filling - super smooth, hints of vanilla, not too sweet, and a little tangy. This one is my favorite! On top of the delicious strudels, the staff were warm, inviting, and super friendly, taking time to answer all of our dumb, newbie strudel questions - a shining example of a locally owned business. We highly recommend you check it out! read more

Extraordinary!! Strudels are incredible, coffee is delicious, people are great, atmosphere is spot on. I can't wait to go back!! Sweet and savory strudels, the perfect breakfast pastry. Yum! I came in today and got the bacon cheddar and a vanilla chai and both were delicious. The service was also very fast and friendly. They're most famous flavor is the vanilla bean and I can tell you from a previous visit that it is soooo good. Today's lunch special was pork and sweet potato but it was too early for me to try that one out. My only complaint was the seating. There is one large community table but it is a high top and the chairs are very high. I am vertically challenged and they don't look comfortable enough to sit and work at which is what I needed. I think they would do better business if they did hanging shelves I stead of the bookcase and added small 2 person tables instead. I shared the feedback but this is just my preference and not a complaint. I really enjoy this local business and forward to going back again soon. read more

OMS, meaning Oh My Strudel! So good.... As a good friend of mine would say "Slap your mama good!" We had the bacon, cheddar and potato strudel. My only regret is that we only got half. Get the whole thing. Cherish it. How often do you get such a treat?! I actually exclaimed out loud when I tasted its light, flaky awesomeness. It might even bring a tear to your eye. The owner, Jaret was very gracious and friendly. They serve Petaluma Roasters coffee which keeps the Ptown love local and it is a really cozy place. I'm a fan! Both the savory and the cold strudels are delicious. Although they're both called strudels, they're very different. The bacon cheddar savory and the vanilla bean sweet are both worth trying. The owner is also super friendly. read more

Best strudel restaurant I've ever been to. Only, if I'm being honest - but it's quite good. The owner is friendly, hand-makes everything with fresh ingredients and obvious passion for the strudels he's making. Simple menu with a nice variety of hot savory and chilled sweet strudels. The Bacon Cheddar Potato streusel was tasty and filling, and the Vanilla Bean Cheese streusel filling was a lot like fresh cannoli. The small dining area is cozy and welcoming. It's reminiscent of a small coffee shop, and indeed they do have a coffee menu too. Come out and support a local business and have some good strudel! read more

After driving by this little shop for quite a while, our curiosity got the best of us (and we were hungry!) so we gave it a try. So glad we did! Simply Strudels will be added to our "great places in Petaluma " list. I ordered a latte and it was lovely, creamy foam and smooth delicious coffee. We ordered 2 slices of strudel to share, a bacon cheddar and a potato spinach. The generous slices were crispy and flaky on the outside with delicious fillings inside. My favorite was the bacon cheddar! We decided to get a sweet strudel to take home to the family. We chose a Meyer lemon, cheese. Sooo delicious! They have several types of strudel on their menu, it may take some time but gonna try them all!!! read more

OMG! this place rocks. Jarrett is the master strudelmeister of fruit/sweet and savory delights such as the Meyer lemon sweet strudel and Garlic, kale, strudel. Not a greasy cheese bomb at all, it's nearly vegan and not just a little filling with tons of buttery phyllo. It's massive in flavor and the phyllo is perfect. Good soy chai latte too read more

Original vanilla strudel = orga$m in your mouth. Flaky phyllo dough plus what tastes like some sort of vanilla cream cheese but frozen? Like ice cream. Then I tried the bacon cheese one and holy strudel. I accidentally ate mine in reverse, so here's a tip: get the bacon cheese strudel with a latte, then eat the vanilla strudel as breakfast or lunch "dessert", either there at the cute location or take the vanilla one home. Yum yum get in my belly! read more

What an adorable little coffee shop! It's at the corner of H and the Boulevard. Very easy to get parking (unlike downtown), so that's a huge bonus! It's a block from a park ( in case you want to grab coffee, strudel and enjoy it there) I came in today for some strudel to go and I was so pleased! I got the apple, cranberry and cheese one---it was amazing. Crisp, lightly sweet flakey layers enveloping cinnamony apples, sweet cream cheese and pops of tangy cranberry. Incredible! I see why they won medals at the harvest fair. My husband loved the bacon, cheese, potato strudel! Can't wait to go back and try their other strudels (bacon, cheese, potato; mushroom tarragon; vanilla bean cheese and a few others). You can buy a piece or a whole log. They also have coffee drinks and other desserts (from Red Bird Bakery in Santa Rosa). There are some places to sit and relax as well. Really nice place! read more

This place makes the best strudels. They are like a cheesecake filling with the fillo dough crust. My favorites are chocolate chocolate peanut butter and Meyer lemon. When they are close, you can pick them up across the street at Charlies's deli. The owner, Jared, is very cool. He's taking his father's recipe and continuing the family tradition of awesome food. I went in and ordered a coffee. Man made me an Americano. $2.50 he said. For a coffee? Yes. However I watched him make an Americano. Prices for coffees are not posted anywhere.Also the lid didn't fit and when I got to my truck the lid kept popping off. I had to dump the coffee before I left so I didn't make a mess in my truck. Avoid this place. read more

What a cozy great spot! The latte was delicious and the vanilla bean strudel was so tasty. The owner is so friendly and helpful and really makes you feel welcomed. This is a great spot to lounge around in on a weekday. The art pieces on the wall are very interesting and fun to look at. They even have a couple of small tables outside, up front, which is perfect for a sunny day. read more

We were assigned to bring dessert to a dinner party and saw a posting about SImply Strudels. Perfect. Had a lovely chat with the owner. He helped me choose just the right selection. Meyer Lemon and their seasonal Blood Orange. When I brought them out at the dinner the host said that all her friends in Marin were coming to Petaluma to enjoy their Strudel. Hopefully they will be able to sell to markets all over the Bay and beyond. It was spectacular. read more

Such an adorable little joint! I had just picked up some coffee from Petaluma Coffee and Tea Company, which they serve in this little shop, and saw a saw a sign for a new bakery in town. I have a problem when it comes to baked goods, I love them way too much. I stopped in and tried my first every savory strudel and absolutely loved it. I also had the pumpkin cheesecake strudel and that was delicious as well. The customer service was fantastic and the prices seem a little high but honestly where else are you going to get a delicious strudel made with the best ingredients? If you're looking for a small chill place to have a cup of coffee and eat some strudel then this is the place for you. read more

I just came in as I was staying at Metro Hotel, a couple doors down. I normally try not to be on the early side of places but this guy was up and at it and the service was great and the place was a perfect chill spot to wake up at. Will be back when i come back for work. All the other reviews are dead on about chill , but no lag in service whatsoever! read more

Just experienced this place for the first time, and it's genuinely a little shocking just how good it is. We started with the bacon potato cheddar, which was the beat strudel I had ever had, until I took a bite of the apple cranberry. Perfectly seasoned, delightfully flaky, so so good! Five stars yes; whether u like sweet ar savory this place has it the bacon potato just taste so good and is so comforting filling your going to need your lazy boy. Sadly I have to rain on their parade for now. We bought their chocolate cream cheese strudel from the farmers market and it was great so now they've opened a retail space we were stoked. Sadly it was not to be. We started with a savory bacon and cheese portion, and a mushroom tarragon. They were OK and I liked the mushroom best - what spoiled things was the bacon and cheese was an end cut so basically all pastry and no filling. The portion sizes were too small for $8 too (given no side salad or anything). So on to the sweet strudel (a more reasonable $5). The lemon filling sounded great but it was borderline inedible - it was incredibly bitter (like it was made without sugar and using the peel mostly), and not pleasant at all. We would have taken it back if the front desk wasn't busy and we didn't want to poison the well of a new business. We put this lunch goes down to teething problems for now. Bottom line is this one was not a good experience. Hope things improve. read more

We also shared a canelé which featured that delectable caramel crust with the perfect custardy center, it's so hard to make and yet Sarmentine just kept them coming! The only part of our meal that was a bit meh were the drinks. My mocha was certain milk forward which probably ended up masking the espresso and chocolate. The matcha latte boyfriend had was generous on matcha powder but it didn't quite have the same body as others tried lately. Still, when you're on your way to the vineyards from Santa Rosa, this is a great little stop to pick up some food to go!

Overall: I had been going to Sift Dessert Bar since 2015, and when it closed in 2024, I was surprised to find that the location for the original Santa Rosa store is now owned by a former manager of Sift Dessert Bar! The original brew master became the co-owner when the winery left the beer business in 2003. It was then moved this location in 2004, opening as a brewpub. It's been on my list of places to visit for a while, so my wife, her mom, and I took the opportunity to stop in for a Thursday night dinner on our way to San Francisco from Fort Bragg. The inaugural double IPA (aka Imperial IPA) was made by the current co-owner at a different brewery in 1994. Double means it uses double the hops and malts, and the ABV is quite a bit higher. He then created Pliny the Elder (ABV 8.0%) in 2000, recognized as the most famous DIPA. The track continued, with Pliny the Younger in 2005, a triple IPA (using triple the hops and malts with ABV of 10.25%). This version is available once a year in the spring, since it costs so much money and time to make. With so much malt being used, a large amount of time (and hops) is needed to balance. I've had Pliny the Elder in bottles before, and really liked it: I don't like the hoppy 'piney' taste in my beers, but also recognize that not enough will make the beer too sweet (which I've been facing with a lot my island beers lately). Parking is street only, but there was a lot of it, with the metered parking only requiring payment till 6 pm. We were greeted warmly by the hostess and immediately seated at a table near the bar. As expected, it was quite loud, with after work folks having a good time. We got menus, ordered our food, and then decided what to do about flights. The brewery is also known for their Belgian style and thus offers two different flights. It was my first time, and didn't know how much my wife could help, so decided to order the California Sampler (a selection of 12 different West Coast 5 oz. pours of ales and lagers for $15.45) to start: O.V.L. Stout (Old Vic Loyals) - Irish nitro stout - really beginning to love stouts, and this one was good. Velvet Glow - lager - solid. Ending up buying 6 pack to bring home ($12.99) STS Pils - pilsner. Bought a 6-pack for $12.99. Russian River Porter - Blind Pig IPA - West Coast IPA Happy Hops - Juicy IPA Mosaic Stack - West Coast IPA SimCoe 25 - West Coast IPA Citra Flash Mob - West Coast IPA Mind Circus - Hazy IPA DDH Pliny the Elder - really good. bought two cans at $5.99 each. Pliny the Elder - the original Felt pretty good, so decided to order the Belgian Sampler (9 different for $13.63), Surprisingly, I didn't like it nearly as much (my favorite fruit beer during this trip was the Howzit Punch beer). Petite Robert - table beer Little White Lie - Belgian White Robert - saison Perdition - biere de sonoma Damnation - golden strong ale Mortification - quad Supplication - sour brown ale Intinction - barrel aged pilsner Consecration - sour dark ale In terms of the food, it was solid. The 8 pc chicken wings ($17) were good, and the cheesy garlic bread ($10) was filling. I had the meatball sandwich ($16) and upgraded the fries to a spinach salad (+$4): it was tasty, loved the toasted French bread and marinara sauce, with the meatballs being OK (tasted from frozen)...loved the spinach salad with strawberries and blue cheese. We finished off our meal with a Vinnies (co-owner) sundae: good vanilla ice cream with whipped cream, chocolate sauce, and a lot of almond slivers. Payment was at the table, and me being again very pleasantly surprised at how little the flights were (a typical brewpub where they charge $3-$4 per 5 oz, would have cost 4 times as much...though of course I wouldn't have drunk as much either).
