Tres Leches Cake sold by the slice! Durango kindly wrote Happy Birthday on the slice!

My first visit here and it won't be my last! Every year for my mom's birthday, we visit her favorite Patisserie restaurant to enjoy Tres Leches cake, my mom's favorite. Being that this year in 2020 we are in amidst a Pandemic we were saddened that we weren't able to to that year. Thanks to Yelp I'm so happy to find this amazing bakery! At Durango Bakery, Tres Leches cake is sold by the slice! Very friendly and helpful staff. They wrote Happy Birthday on my mom's slice when I asked. There are variations of the Tres Leches cake, too which appreciated. You get a choice of strawberry or peach filling. My mom loves strawberry but I am allergic to strawberry. So I bought one of each! The peach was super yummy! Oh...and my mom loved her strawberry Birthday Tres Leches cake! Thank you for helping make my mom's Birthday special. I can't wait to come back to try other yummy baked goods here

They have one of the best tres leches cake and it's a must try. I loved the price points they have. $40 for a large cake is a lovely deal. They even have other bakery items and it's a must try place. I loved the cheese cake they have. Service was good. Ambiance is not great and it's not a place where you can sit and eat. It's mainly a grab and go.

I bought a "Tres Leches" cake and other baked goods such as bread and conchas. I loved it! I called in the morning and they had it ready before noon. It was quick and easy and they were nice and conversational. Also, good prices. Beware that parking might be a little confusing. You can park on the street out front or out back and come through the back entrance, they were very cool. I recommend as the it was delicious and a reasonable price. Note: I spoke to them in Spanish, I didn't try to speak to them in English. FYI, if you're not a Spanish speaker. Compré un tres leches y unas conchas, churros, y pan. Buen servicio y amables. Puedes entrar por adelante o estacionar atrás. Yo fui atrás, estaba un poco confundído pero me dejaron entrar por la puerta de la cocina y el resto fue historia. Muy buen lugar para tortas y pan.

Tasty things still left at 9pm!

Whoa. Ok so, wandering out of El Taco Riendo around 8:30, my husband and I strolled by this place. There were people inside, even though they supposedly close at 5. He pauses and says to me "Do you want to go in there? I'll buy you whatever you want." BINGO. Walking into the small store, I'm immediately hit with the smell of fresh baked pastries. As I look over all of the different varieties, I notice I don't see anything over a dollar. Whaaaaat. The hubs grabs a platter and some tongs and we start loading it up. Bavarian cream filled croissant. Guava and strawberry filled triangle thingies with sugar. A big cheese danish type thing. A couple other things and our total came to $6ish. Crazy. We brought them home and destroyed them. So good. We'll be back.

    All this for $6! Amazing.

Inexpensive, friendly, TASTY AS ALL GET OUT, and open on Sunday morning when the rest of the bakeries in Northeast are taking the day off. Grab tongs and a platter and go to town. Definitely agree with another reviewer that you feel a bit bad for how cheap it all is... but not too bad! I got a huge platter's worth of conchas, empanadas, pan el queso, and croissants for $6. Madness! Can't wait to go back - this is my new go-to bakery.

I attended solo but luckily really liked the group I was assigned to. We wanted everyone to work on things they enjoy and allowed everyone to try some parts of the important tasks (making pasta and pastry dough). Your enjoyment might really depend on what your group is like. You can buy wine and beer to drink while you take the class, and those were reasonably priced I thought! $9 for a glass of wine and I think $8 for beer. The class was chaotic since we were making three courses and things needed to be done at different times, but the chaos felt like how it really is in a kitchen making multi course menus, so that didn't bother me! The assistants were great and helped us stay on track and helped if we were struggling with anything. I can't say I learned much from the class (which is why I only gave 4 stars), but I sure had a lot of fun!

The coffee was delicious and service good. My husband and I both ordered the seasonal "Shakespeare's Fool" which was delicious in decaf and regular. The latte art on top was a plus! The only downside or thing to know is that this location will not accept Spyhouse giftcards because it is part of the hotel. I came wanting to use one, so this was a bummer but I understand and the barista was very apologetic. As a side note about the business, it's impossible to check your giftcard balance online. So while I'd like to use my giftcard, I'm unsure if I will realistically be able to soon!
