Customer service , a dying business standard . Bagels here are the best ever ,green chile cream cheese is a must . We ordered , 1 pizza bagel , 1 onion , & one green chile. But when I went to pick up my order 1 of my bagels was magically duplicated ,thus I had paid for something I didn't order . I received no "fix" just an "that's exactly what I heard " & a walk away from the customer from the young girl working . This is not cool on any level. I didn't care to be refunded etc , but a kind gesture of acknowledging her mistake would have been great . I don't know about you, but crappy customer service sticks with me forever, experiences stick forever . We were glad to pass the extra bagel to someone down the line & that was great . Despite my worries caused by other Yelpers that the bagels are frozen or stale, that wasn't the case on our visit based on what I tasted. Furthermore, who sells fresh bagels that are stale and day old bagels at a discount? Or offers almost a dozen different varieties of bagels that are frozen? The other Yelpers were correct about the bang-for-the-buck. The bagel sandwiches were relatively small for the price. The turkey sandwich with tomato and avocado was better than the Italian cold cuts sandwich. I went in to get bagels and a coffee before our train ride and when I walked in I saw two workers who were furiously working away at orders, trying to get people out quickly, while a grown man stood in the corner and watched. I believe him to be the owner because he came up and stood at the register and moseyed around. The wait was a good 20 minutes and there was only 5 people in the shop, so if you want quick, this isn't the place. When I got to the register to pay for my bagel and coffee, the total was $16 which is quite high for a bagel and black coffee. The man who I believe to be the owner rang up my total and I handed him my card, he took it, swiped and tossed the card at me. He did not hand it to me, nor did he say thank you. His customer service is terrible, and he stood around while the two workers were busy. The food was subpar, nothing to be excited about, so if your in the mood for a bagel and coffee maybe go somewhere else. read more

What a little gem in Durango. Situated just down from the train station, this is a must-visit breakfast/lunch place. After many people telling me about it, I finally made it. Our bagel sandwiches were delicious! I had the Dirty Bird on an onion bagel. My daughter had the breakfast sandwich on a pizza bagel which she stated was "amazing!" ANAZING bagels! If you're a bagel person like me, definitely come here for breakfast. I got the rosemary Asiago bagel with garlic and herb cream cheese and all I can say is I would eat this every morning if I lived here. Their pricing is really decent and I'd recommend getting their bulk options for gatherings because these guys rock. My only downside was I waited in line a half an hour for my wonderful breakfast, so maybe order takeout if you are in a rush. read more

I love the food here. It's delicious. And maybe worth the wait if you have an hour to kill. Does it always take that long? No. But the wait time and treatment by the owner is SO hit or miss. If there are more than two girls working, (only girls are allowed to work there? Hmm?) you might be ok. However, if there's only one, she'll work her tail off and be really polite while the owner stands by and watches the line get longer and longer and refuses to help. On a lunch half hour, it's frustrating to stand there and watch the actual business owner to refuse to help his own employees; for their sake and for the sake of decent customer service. I've eaten here many times and my experience has been unpleasant/uncomfortable more often than not. Mr. Owner Man: learn how to restaurant. You're rude and awkward. Maybe give kind and helpful a shot. We're waiting to give you money to eat food. It ain't complicated. read more

Bagels in Durango are hard to find, but this cute little shop has got what you're looking for and they make a "bomb bagel sandwich" (as my brother would say). A bit on the pricier side, but they pack those things so full you are definitely getting your moneys worth. The girls behind the counter are your typical skiier college gals and they are friendly, welcoming and have a great story or two if you choose to listen. This is a great place to grab a quick breakfast. We tried the Italian which is their everything bagel with scallion cream cheese and the cinnamon sugar with maple walnut schmears. The bagels were good, chewy with just the right crunch. They make the cream cheese blends there and are very generous with the portions. Stopped in Durango for a quick breakfast I got the green chili bagel with ham & cheese. The bagel was good and would of been 3-4 stars on its own. I also got a latte, and it was horrible The owner maybe ?, made the latte it tasted weird & was not hot. Almost luke warm. On a cool morning in Durango I wanted a hot AF late. Not a warm or below room temp latte. Strike 1 ! The real annoying thing was the owner or employee in charge. This guy made the crappy latte & then asked the nice gal who took my order if she charged me extra for the green chili's !? Lol seriously ? It was like an extra 1$ for the green chili option. The only interaction from this guy was to make sure they overcharged me for a sub par breakfast. Skip the coffee or latte here. The girls working seemed nice & efficient. Bagels, bagels and more bagels! This place has the best bagels out there in my opinion! And to make things even better, they also have really amazing bagel sandwiches. I highly recommend the dirty bird. I know, sounds a little strange but the turkey, spicy mustard, garlic cream cheese will change your mind. Just try it and be amazed! Only thing I dont like about this place is usually there is only one person behind the counter and things can get a little crazy which means longer wait times. Oh Durango Bagel, how I love you so. And I miss you even more. Wish I was closer. Their bagels are fantastic, as are the spreads. They make great sandwiches both of the breakfast and lunch variety. Wow! Just wow! In my opinion this little shop has earned it's great reviews. My husband and I both got the southwest breakfast sandwich on a rosemary asiago bagel. This sandwich comes with fluffy eggs, creamy melted American cheese, a spicy sausage patty and a schmear of hatch chile cream cheese. Not only was it delicious, but it was warm and hardy. The bagel itself was crispy on the outside and chewy on the inside. It in no way tasted commercial like you often find in those chain shops. Lastly, if it were not enough that the food was great the people working there was warm and inviting. They were patient with questions and were very eager to help. While Durango Bagel in my opinion is still the best tasting Bagel in town, the customer service is terrible! I've been in many times and while waiting for my turn, the Male owner does not help staff while there is a line out the door.Instead he chooses to stand behind the register and chat with others waiting that he seems to know with absolutely no regard to helping people waiting to pay or jumping in to help make an order. He is NOT friendly, the customer service on his part as an owner is terrible! Ok, I get we live in a mountain town and things are a "little" slower and laid back but this guy clearly hates his job! The bagels no longer have a uniform shape, in fact I purchased one this morning that honestly should have been thrown away it was so small and misshapen! As for his ever changing staff that he has, can you say rude??!! They don't greet you as you walk in and if they do, they certainly do not mean it. They are rude and lack serious basic customer service skills. On occasion you may run into a staff member there who seems to enjoy her/his job but those employees seem few and far between there! I use to go there almost ever morning but I think I will save my money...This guy needs to get a grip on his business because it has gone down hill drastically!!! read more

Unfortunately the first person who tried to make the coffee wasn't unable to make their espresso machine work and the gentleman who made it for me seem to not only have shorted me in quantity but giving me extra grains and a super burnt flavor that was not enjoyable... great for bagels not so great for coffee The owner contacted me and let me know there was a problem with their machine that has been corrected. Durango Bagel used to be my absolute favorite. In the last couple years the price has gone up, the bagel size has gone down, and the quality has gone down.
