Stopped for some breakfast before heading to the spa and loved all the pastry options. They also had great drinks. The line was long but went by fast and there are plenty of places to sit and chill or sit outside and enjoy the weather. Great coffee shop!

Coffee is good. Small food menu looked great didn't partake. Service was friendly and fast. The ambience is very chill great music playing in the background comfortable seating, beautiful fresh flowers on every table.

The signature HG sandwich

Don't waste your lunch money!!!! Sandwiches on the menu however they don't have any mustard. Say the order taking baristas. The signature named HG sandwich had one thinly sliced piece of turkey, two pieces of small bacon, two slivers of avocado, a few tomato skins, and lots of greens. It tasted ok I suppose but for a $14 sandwich, I think not! The latte was pretty good if you're just grabbing coffee. The joint was pretty dirty too, bussing tables must be after hours.

My very disappointing latte before I even had one sip

As a local, we have limited options, so despite my last review, yes, I did go back. Sometimes service is great. Other times it is terrible. I waited 30 minutes for a sandwich on a weekday afternoon, while I watched the staff joke around and goof off. When I finally asked them about it, they said "oops receipt didn't print." I get mistakes happen, but when you have a customer patiently waiting that long and your staff has nothing to do, that should be a red flag for them. Will continue to avoid Higher Grounds when I can.

As a local I'm just fed up. The coffee isn't great the food is never right. The service is awful. I'm just disappointed everything is overpriced for what it is. We ordered some sandwiches made a couple of modifications and none of the mods actually happened but were noted in the receipt. The kitchen needs to take better notes because it's extremely disappointing to get the wrong order let alone have to send it back. When our food was ready our name was never called, we were not acknowledged and they packaged it To go when we were dine in so we couldn't visibly see it was ready we were waiting probably a good 20 mins after it was actually ready and when we finally asked they had to go looking for it... The bathrooms always smell like urine and feel unclean. It's upsetting how much this place has gone downhill. I attached the photo of our receipt where you can see the requested modifications that did not happen and resulted in us sending our food back.

Great service but the coffee is just okay. If you aren't a big coffee snob it will be good. Just get a latte with milk.

Wasn't impressed. Tried a holiday latte (snickers doodle), it was definitely sugary! Maybe I should have gotten an extra shot of espresso? The orange cranberry scone was bland however. It definitely didn't appeal. The atmosphere seemed friendly between the regulars/locals. The merch looked high quality, definitely out of my price range tho.

The owner of this little shop has really ticked all the boxes for providing an enjoyable dining experience. From the meticulously decorated dining room, to the scrumptious pastries, you can feel the heart and soul she has poured into it to bring her dream to reality. And for this little backwoods town to have something like this, is a treat indeed! It's so difficult to get a successful business up and running here in the Mountains. But I guess she takes after her mom in tenacity, because she is off to a good start. The pastries have the taste and texture of true French baking. She has either watched a lot of of the Great Brtish Baking show or she's done her homework when it comes to technique. And we can't quite figure out what she's done to create such a spectacular doughnut. It's not a cake donut and it's not a raised donut. It's somewhere in between and three times as tasty. If she can just keep this pace going and keep up with demand as it increases (and it will) she will be a true success. I highly recommend that you try this little patisserie. I am looking forward to going back for some French Onion soup and a baguette sandwich. And, if you are a coffee snob like I am, you can get a strong fresh steamed cappuccino, to go with your sweet treat. At 6:30 in the morning there's nothing like a fresh warm donut and a strong cup of coffee to kick start your day. Let's support this business Pagosa! We have a good one.

Note there is a review by Howie who is a great reviewer from Albuquerque but the review is 9 years old and it's changed here in Pagosa a lot. We had Baby Back Ribs, roast beef sandwich and pulled pork sandwich. All amazing. High quality meat. Also waitress was awesome. Will be our new favorite place.

They were not, and the side of BBQ sauce was unnecessary, but better safe than sorry. The pulled pork on that pretzel bun SHHHHMACKS! I'll definitely be back for another one.....next week! I'll drive through a snow storm for that pig! Even better than the sandwich was the Onion Rings. Haven't had rings like that in....... maybe ever! They were cooked great, and so crunchy but slightly soft inside! They are a bit pricey for the smallish amount you get, but it is BBQ so I expected a bigger bill from the jump. The cole slaw isn't my favorite, but made a decent crunchy topper to add into the sandwich. The guy that took our order and then brought our food out was really great as well. Can't wait to come back and try more!

There were two people at a picnic table under the far shade. The shaded area just off the building had space for three parties to sit at the time. We took a space at the end and Caleb, who was taking care of us, brought out a bowl of water for our pups. Service was excellent! My husband and I both had their Hazy IPA, our daughter had their house margarita. Dillon, who was manning the bar, did a great job on our beverages. All were refreshing on a hot day. I like that they have the oversized tumblers of water. Hydration is always important. My daughter ordered the 12" Carbonara Pizza. It had Alfredo sauce, mozzarella, grilled chicken, bacon and red onion. It was a thin crust pizza that was crispy on the bottom. She enjoyed the combination of flavors. My husband and I split the Buffalo Bacon Chicken Sandwich and chose sweet potato fries as our side. There is a $3 upcharge for splitting, which is fine. The sandwich had breaded chicken breast tossed in their buffalo sauce with bacon, Swiss, lettuce, and tomato. We opted for Ranch dressing as I am allergic to blue cheese. The sweet potato fries were a perfect accompaniment to the sandwich. Overall a great experience.
