Called them last year to perform yearly maintenance on an old oil tank and furnace in a crawlspace and they did great work and gave great advice! This is a business you can trust! This year when our furnace stopped working mid December: Called up Genove right away and they had someone out the same day to try and help us! We knew the furnace was on the last of its nine lives so Richie came and took a look and let us know our options! He's super knowledgeable and let us know about the Mass Rebate program to save us money! We chose to go with a new electric heat pump over just replacing the furnace because our air conditioning unit was older too and we wanted to get it all under control! This was a pretty big job that required them working in a crawlspace that you can't stand up all the way in which we are very grateful for their hard work! Richie and the rest of the guys showed up early worked with our schedule and really went above and beyond to fix our heating trouble! He also recommended a great electrician to upgrade our electrical panel and take care of the electrical components of the work! It was a seamless job and was great that both entities were familiar working with eachother! Everything ran so smoothly! Armando was great to work with in the office when it came to the proposal and payments as well as getting all of the information needed to submit the Mass Save rebate information after the work was complete! What should have been a very stressful situation quickly became a lot easier when dealing with these guys! They really know their stuff! They were able to get all of this work scheduled before the end of the year to help us out with the rebate and gave us a great heating system for the new year! Someone came over and looked at the unit and said that the problem was most likely a clogged drainage tube. But, since the air handler was in a crawl space, the technician declared that he could do nothing about it since he couldn't get to it. He even suggested that we should knock down a wall if we want to service it. He made absolutely no attempt to find a solution and declared a lack of options and gave up. With that said, we decided to get a second opinion and had another company come in for the same issue. That person not only decided to go into the crawl space but he did the same service and cleared the clogged pipe from inside the crawl space. So, basically, their technician was not only lazy but also suggested we waste thousands of dollars knocking down a wall to fix an issue that eventually cost us $150 with the new guy. This is a terrible look for Prendergast Oil. I was charged $120 by them for nothing at all because their technician was too lazy to do actual work. I hope this helps you improve their service. I don't want to just resort to a bad review somewhere because I would like you, as a local business, to improve your services.

I also figured that since I am having someone come, I would also have them service my furnace. This seemed very straight forward to me. The pump with an issue is a small unit that is located on the side of the furnace. To my knowledge, all that is needed is to unplug the old and plug in the new one. A new pump retails for about $45. If I were at the apartment at this time, I would certainly do it myself. Anyway, I am totally willing to pay for someone to change the unit and have my furnace checked. I thought this was a pretty easy request, but I was wrong. I & C responded that they would charge $245 for the first hour of the installation of the pump plus the parts. This seemed like a lot to pay for someone to plug something into a wall but I figured that I would at least get someone to check my furnace within that hour - nope they won't do that. To check the furnace they would charge an additional $245 for the first hour. So what could literally be a 25-minute job, plug in the pump, and check my one-bedroom furnace would cost $490 in labor + plus the parts. Their pricing is ridiculous and they couldn't clearly explain how it made any sense. Buyer beware, do a little research before you hire someone, and be careful that they don't charge you $245 per "task".
