I have been wanting to try Dumpling Queen since it opened, I'm so glad we finally made it over! The airstream is so cute, the patio area is friendly and inviting and who doesn't love fire pits! The staff were both super helpful and quick to make quality recommendations. The dumplings were piping hot (as they should be) despite the cold cold weather and of course the XJC dumplings were tasty per usual. We tried the chicken, pork and pork with shrimp dumplings and my favorite was for sure the shrimp and pork, especially with the hot mustard aioli and black garlic ginger sauce. If you know me, you know there's one food that reigns supreme in my heart: xiao long bao. I will literally drive an hour out of my way in the Bay Area to hit up some of my favorite dumpling spots, and when I heard that Reno FINALLY had a place that served them, I just about had a heart attack. It seemed like THE perfect place for my hundredth review! The concept is cute enough- dumplings are prepared out of a little air stream trailer parked Abby's Highway 40 bar (which is also very cute, but I didn't get anything there to review). Plenty of outdoor seating and a large TV playing football, although when I went none of the heating elements were on. You place your order at the trailer and then you wait for about 15 minutes while they steam the dumplings. The good- Pricing is decent- 5 dumplings for $7, 10 for $13. I opted to get two different types of dumplings, the shrimp/pork and the pork dumplings. They also are working on a vegetarian option. Where the meal really shone was the sauces. I got the chili crisp and the black vinegar and both were really good. I also appreciated the volume of sauce that you get. The meh- the dumplings are prepared from frozen dumplings (per their site, a partnership with XCJ Chinese Street Food out of Washington). I'm happy to have ANY dumplings, so I'm not gonna be picky, but compared to a traditional xlb place where they're making them there they're just okay. The bad- Every. single. one of my dumplings ripped because the cook crammed all of the dumplings into one little basket. When the dumplings touch each other the delicate skin rips and all of the soup pours out. I thought it might be me but looking at other people's pictures, it seems like that's just how they serve them here. Major bummer. Will I be back? 100% I will because I'm a (censored) for dumplings and I'll take what I can get. However, I hope that they reconsider how they serve them. Traditional places serve takeout xlb in small flat aluminum cups or spaced out in an appropriately sized takeout container. Maybe they could consider one of these options so we don't lose the soupy goodness? read more

I love this space, there's so much outdoor space and it's great for a evening out, there's firepits that you can sit around and the ambiance is great. I came to Abby's for one of their movie nights and ordered the student special of 10 dumplings and an Arizona for $11 and then also ordered their noodles. It ended up taking around 30 minutes for my order to come out and probably closer to 45 minutes for my friends. I felt bad because there was only one employee working in the airstream and he had quite the line of people and was clearly getting overwhelmed with the amount of work he had. The food was tasty and I love the dumplings here but I hope they hire more so that way the service time is quicker and the employees get to enjoy their job a bit more. read more

I don't know if these are house made XLBs but all I'm going to say is that they taste a lot like the Mila dumplings from Costco. I also saw one of the workers pull the bao buns from a bag. We were told 15 minute wait, so we headed inside the bar and ordered some drinks. We were here around 9pm, they had 2 fire places going, music, and a hockey game on a projection screen, we grabbed a table and waited for some of the best dumplings Reno has to offer. Such a cool spot! I had heard about Dumpling Queen on instagram and it has been on my list of places to try. They have a gravel parking lot in the back with plenty of places to park. We came on a Saturday evening and the ambience is such a vibe! They had March Madness games being projected on a TV screen, string lights lit, and the fire pits going. The large fire pit might be the biggest one I've ever seen. Not only was it aesthetically pleasing, but it also gives off quite a bit of heat to keep you warm on cooler nights. There is a bar next door that shares this patio, so you can go in to get a drink and bring it outside to enjoy with your food. I am in grad school so was able to get their student deal which is 10 dumplings + Arizona iced tea for $10! I got the pork/shrimp dumplings with soy sauce and chili crisp sauce. The wait wasn't too long, we enjoyed sitting out by the fire and watching the game in the meantime. The dumplings were delicious! The dumplings themselves were not too thick or thin, they did not fall apart while eating them. Plenty of filling on the inside. It would've been useful to have a soup spoon in addition to the chopsticks since I was eating each one in 2 bites and did not want to lose too much of the soup from the inside. The chili crisp sauce was amazing! I used it for every dumpling. My husband tried the chicken dumplings and thought the pork/sausage ones were better. I wish they had more side options available, the only things on the menu besides dumplings were spicy peanuts plus some desserts. 10 dumplings were not enough to fill me for an entire dinner for the night (my husband and I are both over 6ft tall and had been skiing all day, we might need more food than the average person!). I'm sure they might expand their menu eventually, but some type of side to go with the dumplings would be nice to make it feel like a fuller meal! This place was a little hard to find.. but then we saw the signs to park in the rear. The girl there was super friendly and helpful with our orders. We tried the 5 piece classic pork dumpling and the 5 piece chicken. Both were good...the pork were probably better than the chicken. The broth (soup) in the soup dumplings were good in both. The broth in the chicken dumplings reminded me of the flavor of won ton soup. There is so many dumplings available in other cities but considering that we dont have many choices available here... they were good. The only thing was the size of them... they were pretty small. Dumplings were tasty, but not as hot as they claimed to be. Ours came out slightly more than lukewarm which took away from the flavor honestly. They also only had chili oil and hot mustard available. I was disappointed at first but when I mixed together it was actually bomb. The chili oil is not spicy at all, which I'm sure would disappoint some folks but it was perfect for me.
