    Chicken Momo's

I think the owners have changed since the last time we had a meal here. Food is still good, dumplings Momo's are always good. And their empanadas which are a different word. Are always delicious. Tsuvian beef dish is good but my wife said it was less flavored today. I enjoyed it add a little chili paste, soy sauce and their cabbage slaw it's a great combo..

I have tried this restaurant twice in a row and both items I ordered were delicious. Their beef dumpling soup with vegetables was delicious, their beef dumplings had so much flavor. Today I also door dashed their naadam khuushuur and the meat filling had so much flavor plus it was tender. My husband enjoyed their teriyaki chicken, chicken was tender and not dry

Amazing family owned restaurant in Richmond serving delicious Mongolian dumplings (momos). You serve your own water and salty milk tea (Mongolian drink) and find your own seat. We tried the chicken kuushuur (a mildly salted thin fried dumpling with dumpling meat inside) and the lamb momos. Of the two, the lamb momos really were the best we've ever had! Big pockets of lamb accompanied by some soup inside- the taste was both very lamb-y yet not too game-y. Now I wish we had tried the other momos! Will definitely come back and try them- highly recommend this hidden gem.

Okay DELICIOUS!!! I'm Mongolian and when we are lazy to cook at home - THIS IS THE PLACE! We haven't been there in a while but everything we ordered today was DELICIOUS! I RECOMMEND the round huushuur or naadmiin huushuur-SO GOOD! Complimentary salted milk tea goes well with all the food! Service is very friendly! And love all the Mongolian decorations around the reataurant. For customers and reviews saying service is slow! Mongolian food requires, steaming and frying in general!! and if it take 15-20min its being made FRESH! please be understanding - what I suggest is , you can also call ahead of time as well and they can probably start preparing!

Okay the vibes and decor in this place are cool. They have lil stations out for people to grab utensils and refill their milk tea. It's just hot milk. The taro smoothie was perfect! Not too sweet. The service is good you don't really see them often so you gotta flag them down for the check. Everything was honestly flavorless without their hot chili which was real hot. Sriracha was my bestie this dining trip.

Amazing Food! Amazing Service! Been here so many times! Probably my most favorite restaurant in San Pablo!

I quickly bookmarked this place after reading a KQED article that there was an authentic Mongolian restaurant in the Bay Area. I had also recently watched YouTube videos of Sonny - Best Ever Food Review Show channel and fame on a recent series of videos where he indulged in the fascinating, traditional and everyday food of Mongolians. I murmured to myself that I would never get to experience these flavors. Lo and behold, the article pops-up in my feed as if Big Brother has been monitoring all my social media activities. Located on San Pablo Ave. between Macdonald Ave. and Barret Ave. in an unassuming mini strip mall tucked in a corner next to a Vietnamese restaurant. It's not a place where one would normally gravitate towards, but it's inviting, nonetheless. After convincing the wifey to dine here, I felt a positive energy as we entered, and a good sign when all of the people dining there at that time were all speaking their native tongue of Mongolia. There are pictures of the food displayed on the top of the dining walls for visual reference, and it was definitely helpful. Just don't ask me how to pronounce some of 'em as I will certainly butcher it. There was a wonderful aroma wafting in the air that I was unfamiliar with, but it was definitely intriguing. Of course, I asked for recommendations and the server suggested the Beef Khuushuur ($12.99) for starters. She didn't have to tell me twice, and we also ordered the 'Lamb Dumpling' (small 20 pieces $12.99) and 'Momo Soup' (beef clear soup with dumplings $12.99) to share. I noticed that the diners were also sipping what I initially thought was tea. I asked the server and replied that it was hot milk. I asked for one and she said that they were complimentary, and I was more than welcome to get them at the self-serve station. One sip of the hot milk was definitely unexpected as it had a salty flavor similar to yogurt. It was a welcome drink on a cold day and it will certainly warm you up. The 'Beef Khuushuur' arrived first and it had a doughy and crispy exterior texture filled with assorted vegetables and minced/ground beef that was certainly a delight to eat. I wouldn't compare it to an empanada, but more like Hot Pockets but a million times better. The 'Lamb Dumplings' were still hot and filled with juicy goodness that will burn your tongue if you don't wait to cool 'em off before popping them in your mouth. The flavor of the lamb just hits right, and the texture of the skin was well-balanced consistency and ratio. And last but not least, the 'Momo Soup' was just utterly delicious as the clear broth was full of flavor without being overly salty, and it was a perfect dish to warm us up on a cold day. Heck, I'd even slurp that broth on a hot day, rainy day, morning, afternoon, night or any day whatsoever. The beef dumplings inside the soup were in perfect harmony with the whole dish as we enjoyed every bite and sip of the soup. But let's talk about the chili sauce. I would highly recommend adding the chili sauce to all the dishes to give it that extra kick and oomph. If you're not a fan of spicy dishes, just add a little dab. But this thing was like crack and I wanted to take a whole bottle home with me. Next time we're coming here, I'm bringing my friends and order the 'Lamb Khorkhog' as you gotta order that at least one hour in advance so they can prep it.

But few realize that the TL is also a cuisine Mecca, a deluge of flavors from every corner of Earth. Case in point, Mongol Cafe, visible from the windows of the 38. I've ordered take out lunches multiple times from here. The brownish burgundy gulyash came with an egg, and had a too-rich flavor in the form of sourness in the sauce, just like my previous Mongolian gulyash experience elsewhere. Not my thing. The Tsuivan is hearty, not noodles the way you'd think, but more like the starchy toothpicks you get when you grate a doughball. Well flavored with the fat of the meats it was cooked with. Very rustic. Very stick to your ribs. The buuz was good. And authentic, filled using chopped meat rather than regular ground meat. Bigger than a typical dumpling. Smaller than a bao. Another basic but hearty dish. Maybe you'll find the flavor bland, but you'll notice it. The huitsai is currently my favorite item from here so far. Having a subtle but hearty flavor profile like the other dishes, you can tell this is a Mongolian soup. The carrots, the fried potatoes, and the sliced beef are nice, but the hot soup with the meatballs made it for me. No buns came with the soup, but the noodles were a really nice and filling surprise. Huurshuur - imagine the Cantonese dim sum 咸水角 AKA fried mochi dumpling, but stuffed with the filling used for buuz. And flattened. The coleslaw is a no-go for me though. By American standards, the chop was too rough and thus the texture too hard. You know what's an item that I didn't think I'd see at a Mongolian restaurant though? Mongolian beef. We Cantonese made that dish but I guess the community asked for it or maybe Mongols do have a similar dish. I didn't ask. Potatoes and carrots instead of onions and pepper. Good but I like the huitsai more. You might notice that the restaurant has a cell phone number. You can and should order your lunch ahead by texting her. She does her best, but it's a one-woman show, and English isn't her first language. The prices on the website are definitely out of date though. Don't be discouraged if the door is locked though. She's there. This is the TL after all. Just give her a minute and you'll get to check out the display case full of Mongolian things. * Translate to Korean.

We are the only customer when we arrived. Very pleasant not overpowering jazz mood music plays. Our server has a very pleasant demeanor. We have Taiwan beef noodle soup. Nice and hot the way it should be. Perfect to my tongue textures of the beef cubes and egg noodles. The beef broth was amazing. At the end of our meal I was full. Too full to the point that I almost cried that I couldn't drink the last gulps but it was too small a portion to warrant taking home. Our Kung Pao chicken? Delicious. Chock full of chicken bites and delicious vegetables. Somehow the plentiful peanuts set my taste buds acraving. Wow wow Pao tasty. The only miss with this was that it was brought to us on a coldish serving plate. A common mistake. We didn't get to try this dish hot. We are now wanting our bill. Seems like long time wanting. To our dismay, our friendly server got herself enmeshed in an on again off again conversation with someone at another table shortly after we arrived. Then she disappeared for a while. We are tempted to guess the bill amount (turns out we guessed wrong by $1), leave cash on the table and walk out. Instead I get up and she appears at the register. Magic. We pay proper like and walk out respectfully. I wouldn't mind coming back.
