I am a big fan of dumpling and this place hit the spot. Also through the pork buns were great to. I snapped a chopstick while eating them, which was a new experience, but the waitress subtly got me a new one. read more

The dumplings taste good and the other dishes are pretty delicious as well! Been there twice and might go again in the future!

General gau's was disgusting and made me sick. Could have been the house fried rice with shrimp which was over cooked mush. Terrible food

Got food poisoning. 3 out of 4 people got sick on General's chicken. 4th did not eat it and was fine. When leaving restaurant, I glanced into kitchen and they had bags of food ingredients sitting on the floor. Don't go here. Too bad I cannot give out 0 stars read more

I did takeout from here and the food was pretty good! Generous servings and good flavor. I think the veggis were very over-priced ($11 for an order of garlic broccoli). The service was prompt and we didn't have to wait long for our food which was great. I would defiantly be back, but be more careful of what I ordered on the menu to get better value. read more

Absolutely, positively delicious - my mouth waters just thinking about the vegetable dumplings and buns. I get takeout a lot. And the service seems to have improved since it opened (we once ordered steamed dumplings and got them fried, only to have been told we couldn't get the steamed ones -- picture of not good service right there). Takeout doesn't take too long, and neither does the food it if you're sitting there, even at peak business hours. But -- $20 credit card minimum??? Come on. This place is super reasonably priced, so it's hard to spend that much, actually. They get tons of business so I can't imagine that this restriction is necessary. I mean, if Berryline can take credit cards for $3 micro cups, I feel like this place should be able to, as well. Anyway, that's the only reason I detracted one star. Hope you guys change that policy soon because I love your dumplings!!!!!!!! read more

The Xiao long bao are the best I've ever ever had and surpass the ding tai fung's of the world. Each juicy bun contained 2-3 full sips of amazing juice; the sha-tsa spicy beef noodles were delicious and ma po tofu was done perfectly. If you are visiting the Cambridge MA area, forget hitting Chinatown where all that you'll likely get is Hong Kong-like all-dishes-are-served-in-some-form-of-brown-sauce. Instead, give this place a try and you should be pleased :) read more

Dumping and noodles are what most people order , don't forget to order other dashes! The salt and pepper tofu is hot and packed with great spice. The new cold chicken dash the owner suggested perfect for hot summer day (see photo). Next time will try the hot and sour soup! read more

Come here if you want good soup dumplings. The rest of the menu is not that great. Fast turn around doesn't lead to great food. Also don't expect friendly service - no smiles, thank yous or you're welcomes here. Orders are taken and food is delivered... expect to ask for everything else you might need. read more

Delicious meal, friendly staff, beautiful space, & perfectly located!! Their soup dumplings are superb!

Great food for good prices. Large potions meant to be shared. Service is not your typical American friendly service. It can get crowded and the service can be less friendly than Americans are used to, but I like the vibe and that experience. It's a bustling, crowded restaurant for a reason... They do close promptly at 10pm... read more

I went here late at night (11pm-ish?) with a really big group (probably 25 people), and it was really great. The service was really good - they accommodated us without any trouble (split among a few nearby tables) - and we commenced to ordering tons of food that everybody shared. Everything was great - veggies, dumplings, etc. I especially loved the szechuan fish stew - best I've had since I was in China last fall. read more

Amazing food! We ordered mini soup dumplings （小笼包）, northern style cold noodles （北方凉粉）, double cooked pork （回锅肉）and pea pod shoots （豆苗）. All were so good! Maybe we are too hungry, I felt this is the best Chinese dish I have ever had! read more

I was in a rush to grab my food and run... They were very cooperative. The food was 4/5, there's a slight scope for improvement.

I've eaten here two weeks in a row . . . once sit-down and once take-out. The dumplings are delicious and authentic! I'm so glad to find this in Cambridge, at last. The service is friendly. I'm going to keep this short and simple: if you want affordable, delicious dumplings . . . of many varieties. . . this is the right place. read more

This place is so great! It's the same delicious food that you will find at their Chinatown restaurant but without the hassle of having to wait for a table and dealing with an insanely cramped space. Knocked off one star because our server totally forgot about us for an hour (but I was catching up with someone so not too much of a complaint). read more

Szechuan fish, soup dumplings, pig's ear = I have absolutely no complaints. One of my favorite restaurants! I was less impressed when I came with friends who ordered more Americanized dishes, but I'm not going to be ordering those any more... read more

I dine at the Dumpling House at least once a week with a group of friends and co-workers. We are OBSESSED with the pork soup dumplings and we also love the mango chicken, the beef and broccoli, the flat noodles with vegetables, the scallion pancakes, the peapod shoots, the asparagus chicken.... OK, we love pretty much everything on the menu and love doing family-style, always trying something new every time we're in. The staff -- who have gotten to know us in the last year -- is always awesome. Everything is delicious. Our motto is "Always say YES to the Dumpling House." So.....try it out! read more

Great dishes with awesome flavors. Prompt service for my dishes for takeaway. The restaurant smelled amazingly good.

The fried dumplings are great. There are choices for vegetarians, also had the tofu and scallion Very good

The food was good, though the rice portion is very small compared to the main dish. The service was terrible. I came in during a lull between lunch/dinner rush (with only 1-2 other customers and 10-12 staff in the house), but not a single member of the staff could be bothered to check in on me and when I finally did get service, it was incredibly poor and the staff were rude. I won't be going back, sadly. read more

Dumpling House is an offshoot of the very popular Gourmet Dumpling House from Chinatown. It is the best authentic Chinese restaurant in the Central/Harvard Square area. Mulan on Broadway is also up there on my list but is unfortunately closed temporarily due to a kitchen fire. Because it is relatively new (maybe around one year), I have never had to wait for seating every time I've gone. Perhaps I have been lucky. The dishes are excellent. They have a good selection of classic dishes and a wide variety to choose from. My favorite appetizer is the lamb kebab, pieces of lamb skewered on a bamboo stick seasoned with a not too spicy pepper powder. I don't think I've seen this fish in other restaurants around the area. The xiao long bao (mini dumplings) is another favorite of mine. It is the specialty of Dumpling house, perhaps also its namesake. For the n00bs who haven't had this before, the best technique to use is to grab the dumpling with your chopstick and place and eat from a spoon. The dumplings contain soup in them, so you can drink the soup and enjoy your dumpling at the same time. Another good dish is the Seafood hotpot with vegetables. It is a hot broth containing all your favorite seafood, tofu, noodles, and vegetables. One is large enough for two people. A brave soul sitting next to our table was attempting to finish a whole one by herself, including the rice. Even the waiters were cheering her on. read more

To sum it up quickly- very, very poor service. Wave down and make eye-contact with your server? Still nothing! Food is Ok-- definitely nothing to call home about, and very expensive for what it is. Save yourself some dough and head to a joint where they actually care about your business. read more

Good food that consistent and fast. Not the best dumplings I've ever had but I keep coming back

I love the fresh handmade dumplings there. Also it's a clean, big enough and good-designed place to have a meal compared to the Chinatown one. The service is nice and the owner is always there to answer the suggestions. I will recommend my friends there too. read more

The Dumpling house is right across from where I work, so I've been there a few times for lunch with my coworkers. A group of 8 took a new hire out to lunch there last week. Even though there are many options in the area, we had nearly a unanimous decision to go to the Dumpling House. The Dumpling House has great seating for large and small groups and a wide variety of options on their menu to fit the preferences of almost any palate. I was looking for something on the healthier side, so I got the Noodle Soup with Fermented Cabbage and Fish. The soup had the perfect amount of nicely cooked noodles. The fish was plentiful and buttery, and the cabbage was tasty-- obviously fermented but without an overwhelming flavor. They accidentally gave us an extra order of dumplings, which they did not charge us for. read more

Absolutely amazing! I lived in NYC for a decade and when I moved to Cambridge I mourned the loss of great Chinese food. Well, my days of mourning are over. Soup dumplings - amazing! Double cooked pork - fantastic! String beans and ground pork - wonderous! Must eat here. Worth traveling to. read more

Considered one of the good places for chinese food in Cambridge, I didn't find the food or the service good. The dumplings were so-so and the wonton soup was good but not great. Service, at least the time I went was below average. read more

Best scallion pancakes I've ever had! You must try! The spinach steamed dumplings were amazing! Quick service. read more

Best Chinese place I've been to in the square. The dumplings are pretty great as well as the other dishes. Most reviews commented on the bad service, however I didn't notice that too much. I mean it's not the best waiter service, however no one was rude. The staff was quite attentive with refilling water and clearing plates. The food came quickly. Overall it was great! read more

In terms of decor, slightly more upscale than its sister restaurant, Gourmet Dumpling House in Chinatown. Same quality and prices, though. As always, the Sichuan spicy sliced fish and doubled cooked pork are my favorite items. This restaurant also is bigger than the one in Chinatown, so no long waits trying to get in the restaurant. I'm so glad this restaurant opened up in Cambridge. read more

One of the better Chinese restaurants in the Cambridge. Good amount of Sichuan style food and excellent dumplings.

most dumpling houses don't have that many vegetarian bun options, but dumpling house in cambridge isn't really an exception. i decided to go with the vegetable buns with mushroom. they're like giant pillows of dough wrapped around veggies and a little bit of mushroom. if you're expecting mushroomy goodness, damp down your expectations. they didn't have that much flavor, but they were filling because of all the dough. we also ordered the sauteed rice cakes with vegetable, and braised tofu with scallion and vegetables. the sauteed rice cakes were pretty forgettable. the braised tofu was so braised that it ended up collapsing in on itself, so that it was less tofu, and more skin. you're obviously going to come for the xiao long bao (mini soup dumplings with pork) if you're a meat-eater, which my boyfriend had. spoiled as he is as a white boy from south dakota, he thought they were only okay, and that he's had better. take that as you will. verdict: will come here again if craving dumplings, but otherwise, will pass. read more

I was feeling a little under the weather and came here in search of my craving for Chinese noodle soup. I ordered the beef stew noodle soup with spinach. While the soup itself was tasty, the portion size appeared to be half of what most other restaurants give. Usually, this dish can be shared, but the amount here was barely enough for one. Luckily, I had an order of Shandong style pan fried dumplings on the way. The dumplings didn't taste as good as the first time I had them. I enjoyed the outer dough skin wrapper much more than the meat inside. The meat was tasteless. Overall, a bit disappointing for a $20 lunch. read more

Hands down some of the best soup dumplings I've had. I definitely recommend this place. I've only ever tried the dumplings so can't say anything for the other dishes. read more

Love that they have soup dumplings, even though theyre not the best ive ever had. Need more soup in them. Still, the pork filling inside is really tasty, and im not a huge pork fan. The ambiance and service is fine. The other food i had was pretty good. The chicken dumplings were really good, and pretty filling. read more

Got take out for the first time here, it was too busy at 7pm for a party of four to sit down. I'm just visiting Boston for the weekend, and was so relieved this location opened up in Cambridge. It's just as good as Gourmet Dumpling in Chinatown. Order: -Szechuan Fish Stew -dao miew (snow pea leaves) -veggie dumplings -spicy clams read more

The food is to die for! SOOO YUMMMYYY. The flavor is just great so I come here pretty often. They were even open during one of this winter's gruesome snow day/storm so I didn't spend that day hungry! Lol. read more

Place delivers late, but shuts off their phone late night! After a while, we had no idea if the food was even going to come or not. It ended up coming about 1-1.5 hours later than expected, and was 100% cold. No heat whatsoever in the dumplings or crispy chicken. I would not order from here again, and they were very curt/ rude on the phone throughout the ordeal. We were also unable to get a refund for our order. read more
