Best dumplings I have had in Boston and Massachusetts. Nuff said. Ordered as takeout and was still delicious 2 hrs later so I'm eager to try it during dine in when they are hot and fresh! read more

Great for group dinners. Dumpling house is pretty good. The dishes won't be the best you've tried, but I think most are pretty enjoyable. Things I enjoyed: Xiaolongbao soup dumplings (they were actually pretty good last time, very juicy and flavorful), Szechuan fish fillet (tender and delicious), Fuqi feipian (cold thin beef with Szechuan chilly oil not too spicy, good flavor), cold sesame noodles (perhaps too peanut-y, but I liked it), pepper beef (tender, tasty), pan fried dumplings (packed with flavor), minced beef soup (simple and comforting), yellow fish with tofu (nice authentic taste), oyster pancake (eggy and delicious). Things that were just ok: stir-fried potato (interesting, but meh), cumin lamb (not enough meat, dry), sesame chicken (mostly batter). So overall, more hits than missed. Service was friendly and accommodating for our giant group. It's also a good option for takeout. Dumpling House despite the name is not a very focused restaurant, but I think you will likely have an overall positive experience. Our group left happy and full. read more

We came here for dinner the other day and it was pretty decent. Pros: + Great entrees - I had the mango chicken and it was divine. + Tea - they serve a pot of tea with the meal. It's such a nice way to warm up after standing in the cold for such a long time Cons: - CROWDED - They bring the food out as it's ready. This is awful if you're eating with a group because sometimes a few of the dishes come out much earlier than the others. So, there's always the awkward do I let me food get cold or do I dig in? - They do rush you out as soon as they can - Do not seat until full party is there. It is frustrating, because if you're called and one member is still in the uber coming up, they will not seat you. - Charge extra for rice. TBH, I really think that for $15 for a chicken based entree, they should not charge extra for a bowl of rice. read more

Solid chinese food! This place can get really packed, so plan accordingly. I've passed by it several times when there are a bunch of people waiting outside, but we were lucky enough to not have a wait when we went on a Monday night. The tables can also get squished together, so prepare to be friendly with the neighbors! This is a pretty typical Chinese (with a little Taiwanese) restaurant, with noodle soups, dumplings, main dishes, and appetizers. We ordered the soup dumplings of course, a seafood & tofu soup, beef noodle soup, seafood and tofu hotpot, and scallion pancake. Everything was delicious! Highlights of our meal -Soup dumplings: plump and juicy, just the way I like them! The soup and meat were a little darker than normal though.. my brother said it varies, sometimes lighter. Maybe there was extra soy sauce this time -Beef noodle soup: I liked this one better than Taiwan Cafe's, only because I'm not a fan of their's, but overall it was ok. Rather than chunks of beef, it was more like thick slices. I still have yet to find a good beef noodle soup in Boston, so if you know any.. send them my way!! -Seafood & tofu hotpot: YUMMM smoking hot with fried tofu, squid, fish, shrimp. I always enjoy this dish at Chinese restaurants, and this was no exception! All of my favorites mixed into one dish This is definitely a place I would take my parents to, cause they love this type of family-style standard Chinese food restaurant. They have a lot of options, so I'm sure you'll find something you like! read more

Tasty food with lots of choices for noodles or non-noodle dishes. Better for take out than eat in. Reasonable prices.

Came here for lunch. Had the Szechuan chicken with vegetables and white rice. The person I was with had the peanuts with chicken. We also ordered egg rolls and tried the fried rice. I liked my chicken dish. I just thought it was kind of light in chicken. More veggies than chicken. Sauce was good flavor. The egg rolls were good, but not great. The fried rice was a bit fishy for me, but may just be used to a diff Chinese style fried rice than what they offered. read more

The dumpling house was great! The service was terrific. Just a fun place with great food!

Quick review: pork and leek steamed dumplings are AMAZING and have that doughy texture that only homemade dumplings have! Also, whoa at their smoked duck! Totally blew me away and I generally go for crispy/roast duck. The soup dumplings had a stronger cooking wine flavour than I care for. Definitely recommend and would reorder from here myself! More information: I don't know what took me so long to try this place, but wow was it worth it! I was craving dumplings given it was Lunar New Year and despaired of finding a good Chinese restaurant that was open. Thankfully Boston Eater pointed me in this direction given my go-to is closed for remodeling. The pork and leek dumplings are perfect, and held up during delivery! It was exactly what I wanted, and I paired it with my own dipping sauce (chinkiang vinegar, sesame oil, soy sauce, and laoganma chili oil). IYKYK The smoked duck blew me away. I meant to go for a roasted duck but figured I'd try this menu addition and could not stop until I was stuffed, and even then I wanted one more bite! A small white rice was more than enough to pair with this dish. The soup dumplings were the one item that paled a little in comparison in that I felt the filling was a little strong on the cooking wine which I suspect marinated the meat. Good, but not as perfect as the pork/leek dumplings. I think this might be my new dumpling place! read more

Went to dumpling house based on various reviews. Walked in on a Monday evening around 8p. Full.house had to wait 10 min for a table. A good sign Ordered pork soup dumplings based on review and brief conversation w couple of locals. Was on spot dumplings were as good as advertised. Ordered the szechuan spicy beef based on recommendation.from server. Bad call. The dish itself was tasty but way too oily and spicy and soupy for my taste. I wish I had gone w another dumpling order or a dry noodle dish. Would come back for soup dumplings but would never order any of the wet brothy dishes. Overall experience just ok. The soupy dish really left a bad end to what could have been a great experience read more

The best Chinese place! The food there is authentic and taste exactly as in China. I have been to China many times and this place pretty much has the same food as there. If you are going there for a dinner, be prepared that most likely it will be a line to be seated but usually you do not have to wait for a long time. Customer service is good. They serve food really fast, we ordered and in 5 minutes we had food on our table. This is exactly how they serve food in China :) I really enjoyed the food. My boyfriend and I ordered for appetizer Chilled Pig Ears and Scallion Pancakes. Chilled pig ears were amazing, I highly recommend this to try! For the main course, we got A29. (Shandong Style Pan-Fried Dumplings), and A30. (Mini Soup Dumplings with Pork). So, overall everything was great, and we were super full. Go there when you are super hungry, that you can eat a lot of delicious food! read more

Awesome and authentic Chinese food! Lots of fish options and busy all the time. I love their dessert options.

Soupy dumplings are very good. Service was quick and food was ready fast too, even though it was a very busy Saturday night. The place was packed and people waiting. But, the tables seem to turn over quickly. Waited less than 10 minutes at 6:15. String beans and ground pork was good too. The beans were perfectly cooked, nice firmness. The beef chow fun flat noodle stir fry was good but I've had better. read more

We came here for a quick snack because I love dumplings! We didn't really have to wait for a seat because we came around 3pm. The service was quick and people were nice. The soup dumplings were OK. The meat inside was a bit hard and the soup was a little too salty and dark. Other soup dumplings I've had in the past were lighter in color and more flavorful. This one tasted like soy sauce soup in a way. The pork and chives dumplings were good. The skin wasn't super thick which was good and the meat inside was OK. Overall it's not a bad place if you just want a quick bite and continue exploring Boston. read more

Pretty dang good pork xiao long bao (soup dumplings). The dumpling skin is pretty thin (just the way I like it) and envelops a rich, savory soup inside. I would highly recommend it. Then we ordered sauteed chinese broccoli in garlic sauce, which was so delicious. The chinese broccoli retained the crunchiness while still soaking in the delicious garlic sauce. And this complemented the sichuan-style fish really well. The fish is soaked in hot chilli oil-based broth with the nice texture of napa cabbage. Pretty spicy and salty, I should warn you, but so delicious. The service is quite fast and efficient. The prices are very reasonable. I recommend this place for your chinese food fix! read more

I'm glad that this place is close to where I live. We ordered the vegetarian spinach dumplings, lamb with mixed vegetables in clay pot, and braised yellow fish with tofu (which the serve mistakenly reordered as braised tilapia in bean sauce). All food were tasty. read more

I always have a good time when I come here. Have I loved everything I've tried? No. But I never feel disappointed I made the trip. The service is excellent! One time when I asked for recommendations, my server made a recommendation on each section of the menu! My friend and I ended up ordering a few things and most of them were winners! The portions are good. The speed of delivery is good. The quality of the food is good. This place is awesome. It gives me joy. Check it out! :) read more

Super consistent amazing food for years!! We love the soup dumplings, sautéed Chinese broccoli and sichuan crispy spicy chicken.

I was honestly a bit disappointed, given how great the yelp reviews were. We got a bunch of different kind of dumplings, and I didn't think any of them were that great. read more

Cute little Chinese place. Had the chicken and brocolli lunch special. The soup is this seaweed tofu soup. Not my thing, but it was nice to try. The chicken and brocolli was small for $11.50, but still good. Nothing really bad about it... maybe a bit pricy, but so is everything else in the area. Ironicly better than some of the restaurants near Quinnipiac. This place beats Gold Star any day of the week. read more

I came in this restaurant last night after reading good reviews but i was wrong. The table next to me they had a birthday party and omg, they were noisy and disturb all the guests nearby. they screamed and hit the table every 5 minutes that no one in the restaurant reminded. it could be because 4 of them are employees there (they wear shirts with restaurant names). I ordered beef soup dumpling , fried dumpling and beef tendon cumin , they were too salty And the staff screamed at me in Chinese when i did not remember what i ordered , i had to say we are not Chinese and they leave without saying anything. Last thing, the way they put the food down like they want to toss it into our face ( i believe others have same feeling because we shared the table) Never go back read more

We got soup soup dumplings and the bok choy in garlic sauce. Soup dumplings were really good with perfect amount of chewyness and perfect thickness without being too bread-y. The soup inside was very savory and brothy without having that unpleasant meat taste. Bok choy in garlic sauce was very garlicy. Honestly, this dish is good no matter what restaurant you get this from. However, the garlic was sliced into bigger pieces so that made it bit more special. All in all, good location near Harvard with good prices and good food and no waiting. read more

Holy...wow. You know how IHOP's slogan is "Come Hungry, Leave Happy?" Can we apply that here? Adam, what an awesome establishment you have. The servers are so sweet and welcoming, and I'm still astonished that no one even smirked at me when I (amateurly) attempted to eat soup dumplings with chopsticks. It was a rainy, unseasonably chilly May evening, and I was craving something warm, something home-y. And Dumpling House gave me that and more. I was originally skeptical about the crab and pork soup dumplings, because I thought the two meats wouldn't marry, but oh boy, they sure did. The hot & sour soup, also, simultaneously delivered the right amount of kick and comfort. Would definitely go again, and this time with friends, just so I can try some more things out! read more

Not sure if we just had a bad experience, but we recently ordered in and found the food horrible. The fried rice was off - had to throw it away. I was surprised since it is very hard to mess up fried rice. The dumplings were subpar and average. read more

Honestly some of the best Chinese food I've ever had. Everything tasted so fresh: the juicy pork soup dumplings, super crispy scallion pancakes, and the General Gau's tofu, which is often soft and sad from most other places but was crispy and flavorful here, just like the chicken version! :P Plus the sauce was sticky and thick, not thin or runny. The food wasn't greasy at all, either. Normally Chinese takeout isn't great for my stomach, but here my tummy was very happy :) Give this place a try! (One more thing -- I wish there were more vegetarian options for the soup dumplings! I try not to eat too much meat, but the veggie ones on the menu just didn't grab my attention. Maybe someday the owners might consider this? xo) read more

What happened? This was THE BEST Chinese food in Cambridge: our go to for YEARS!! We got soggy broccoli, tasteless kung pao chicken. Don't even ask about the hot and sour soup! read more

There's something wrong with the formula with which they make the dough. The Xiaolongbao (soup dumplings) and Jiaozi (dumplings) all taste horrible. The wontons are bland as heck. Out of all the restaurants specializing in these foods in the Greater Boston area, this one's the worst. read more

Came here with a group of 6 for dinner at 6:30 PM on a Monday and we were fortunately seated immediately but we were the last table to be filled. This place is bigger than the Gourmet Dumpling House in Chinatown which always has a long wait so come here if you don't want as long of a wait. I won't pretend to be an expert on Chinese food but this is what seems to be a quintessential Chinese food joint with greasy food, neverending menus, fried dumplings, and average service. There are waiters running around you at all times. We ordered various things including soup dumplings, pan-fried noodles with beef, pan-fried buns with pork, sauteed veggies, a whole fish, and salt and pepper pork. Serving sizes here are pretty good so you can get by on about 1-2 dishes per person, depending on what dishes you order. All of it is good, not great. Salt and pepper pork and the veggies were my favorites. read more

Apparently I can't be away from Chinese food for a mere 5 days of my business trip... everyone told me to stick to seafood and Italian in Boston, but I couldn't help it! Dumpling House indulged my comfort food craving and fed me a perfectly acceptable sliced Sichuan fish in chili oil, and a weird, kind of mozzarella-stick-like salt and pepper tofu dish (the breading would have been at home in an Italian restaurant, but the tofu itself was custardy and wonderful). Both dishes had the same crumbled dry salt/pepper/chopped chili mixture on the top, which was okay because it was tasty, but I could have used a little more different oomph (or whatever the numbing pepper version of 'oomph' is) in the fish. I did appreciate how crisp the cabbage and bean sprouts in the fish dish were - too often restaurants will serve them soggy from having had them chilling out in the oil for too long. read more

Solid Chinese restaurant. Soup dumplings have been hot and soupy every time I've been. Some of the other dishes, like eggplant with pork are on the oily side, but the white rice soaks all that up. The few dishes that were ok was the Northern style cold noodles with peanut and sesame, which I thought was going to be like Sichuan cold noodles, but was more like liang pi (spicy and a little vinegar with sliced vegetables), but with clear wide noodles... good, but wished the noodles were firmer. Another was the water boiled fish, supposed to be spicy, but was more watery. Overall clean, fast service. Good comfort food. read more

I have ordered from this place a handful of times. The dumplings and crab rangoon are good but everything else is just kind of 'meh'. Tonight they messed up my order; instead of giving me crab rangoon they gave me scallion pie which is tougher than rubber. Do not order on new year's as you will most likely be met with a quarter of Cambridge trying to order from the same place. read more

The service has always been good every time I've been. When they're busy and you're in a small party, you get the option of sharing a larger table with other small parties to be seated faster. I usually come here with my wushu friends, but one time I came with a guy on a date and he liked the food enough to selfishly take and eat all the food without asking me and then ask me to pay for half. I never brought him again, but to make up for the loss of his business I have brought others because Dumpling House should not suffer for his mistakes ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ read more

This review is for take-out only: Bao buns are on the doughy side, but still delicious. I got the vegetable buns with mushrooms and I would definitely reorder!
