This place is horrible. I ordered a two piece grilled fish with a skewer of shrimp. It came with a side in which I selected coleslaw. The coleslaw was so dry and had no flavor. The worst part was they gave me a rinky dink filet that I would have not even served as one, and then had the nerve to cut it in half and say that it was two pieces. They forgot my side order so I called them to let them know and also asked about the filet. They said that normally if the piece of fish is small they give another. So I went back and she confirmed that this was very small. I overheard them talking and the kitchen staff was bothered about having to give another filet. They provided another filet that was smaller then the one in the picture. Luckily a picture can't tell no lies. I would never go back to this joint again. Do better!! read more

Restaurant was bright inside and was very family friendly however the food was another story. We ordered onion rings which were very good but then both me and my husband got the fried fish and shrimp meal and the shrimp was sour and the catfish smelled like it had been sitting in a tub of wet catfish for several hours and smelled very off putting. The fries and hush puppies were fine. We told the waitress and she said that once we got to the register it would be taken care of. That didn't happen. The girl asked "what the problem was" and was told the shrimp were sour and catfish had a bad smell to it, she said she couldn't do anything about it and didn't have the authority to refund anything and would let the manager know TOMORROW!! Keep in mind this was the middle of the day and they will continue to feed this to others. Needless to say we were in and out of there in about 30 minutes tops, once we noticed the off putting smell and taste we stopped eating. $40 for everything which was a pretty good deal, but the fact they wouldn't do anything about it is concerning. read more

We have eaten here before and the catfish was delicious! Today it was not good..... really thick breading that was overcooked and was not real catfish, more like swai filets. The hush puppies were also burnt. What I really hate is when places that serve real catfish start cutting corners with swai filets and charge more. Very disappointing. Will not be back. read more

Tartar sauce and Fried Pickles. We ate here and it was a great experience. There is a lot of John Wayne stuff in here and the "Duke" is who this place is named after. We started with an appetizer of Fried Pickles and these came as slices and they were very good considering they were slices. Our meal of Catfish was cooked very well but what made it excellent was the best Tartar Sauce we have tried so far. Beans, Coleslaw, Hush Puppies and French Fries were all above average and good too. After 3 years, since my first review above, I decided to give them another shot. Baked potato was rotten. Peach cobbler went up yet again to almost $5 and 3 bites. 2 hushpuppies were tiny. When I called to let them know, they offered me a free side only on my next visit. I will continue to drive past them as I have for the past 3 years. Additionally, they had a severe methane gas issue that made me nauseated. They said they got their septic tank pumped. I have a tank and have never smelled ANYTHING that awful. Catfish shacks are as ubiquitous as BBQ pits in this area, and I've hit quite a few. But Duke's is a cut above. The place is clean, well-staffed, and really nice inside. The food - well it's damned near perfect. Excellent thick slabs of catfish well-prepared and lightly breaded. No piles of breading and tiny fish here. Big hunks of flaky white fish and just exactly the right amount of batter. The pinto beans are wonderful - but the fish is amazing. Some of the best I have ever had. My husband and I enjoyed traveling from a neighboring town to Duke's, but we're done. Ms. Diane,I think that was her name- I also think she was the owner. Anyway. She is rude and petty. I complained that the onion rings were old and cold. She stuck her dirty hand in my basket and tried to pull one apart but couldn't it was so old. She proceeded to tell me they were fresh and offered to re rewarm them, I declined she left and this petty " child of God" came back about seven or eight minutes later with ONE freshly cooked onion ring because she " wouldn't short me one ring." First time ever trying fried catfish last week. This girl is a fan!!! When we arrived Friday around 6:15, parking was a little tight but there were plenty of tables inside. Don't let that deter you! We still aren't sure if you seat yourself. Someone eventually grabbed menus and put us at a table. Plenty of variety on the menu, even if you don't want seafood or something fried. Kids can easily eat chicken tenders, Mac and cheese, and the like. You can see their full menu on Facebook. I ordered the 2 piece fried cafish with beans and fried okra. Comes with two huge hush puppies also. I didn't eat the beans-way too salty. Okra was average. But that fish!! Soooo good. Light and not greasy or super fishy tasting. The pieces are huge also. My meal was $7.99. My husband got a 4 piece with coleslaw and fries. His sides were way better. He had debated ordering the all you can eat special available Friday nights but said next time a 3 piece would suffice. That's saying a lot!! The star of the show here (besides the catfish) is the tartar sauce. You can tell it is homemade! They provide plenty, which is good because I dipped every bite of my meal in it. The waitstaff was outstanding. Those girls were super polite and had some serious hustle. We will be back often!!! Favorite restaurant in Longview. Service is A+. The waitstaff has some HUSTLE. always seems to be the same girls and they are on their game. Don't bother with anything besides catfish. The pieces are incredible light and flaky, and good size too. Have had the kitchen send out an extra piece when they thought one was too small. Definitely a nice touch. Tartar sauce is INCREDIBLE. I don't even like tartar sauce and I would drink this with a straw. Favorite sides are French fries, side salad, baked potato or Mac n cheese. The beans tend to be pretty salty.
