Found this place will visiting a friend and needed a place to work. This place was great. My cardamom latte was delicious and the vibe was great. Duggar's has become my coffee shop stop on my way to work. I love the seasonal flavors. I haven't tried their breakfast but it looks good. Lee is awesome, my favorite barista. We came here for a Sunday morning breakfast because the line at Frontier was outrageous. We thought this place would be faster. We were sorely disappointed. My husband and I ordered an iced tea, a water and 2 op-ed burritos. We got the drinks right away but it was over an hour before we received our burritos. The place was busy and we could see the cook working, but if it takes that long, there's got to be some sort of warning. In addition, the cook messed up our order, so people who had ordered after us received their food before we did. The barista apologized and gave us a coupon for a free drink for the next time we come in. I appreciate the attempt but it just wasn't enough to help rectify the bad experience. The food was good but I couldn't fully enjoy it because we really needed to get on the road to head home to Tucson. I never say this, but in this case I wish we had just gone to Starbucks. read more

This was a very cute place to eat for a Sunday breakfast. I really enjoyed the cute ambience of this location. My food was superb and I enjoyed my vanilla latte as well. The staff was Kind and helpful! However, the prices are outrageous for the food served. For two people, the bill was nearly 35$. This was just a steal. While I enjoy supporting local and will continue to do so, this just seemed outrageous considering what we received (pancakes and lattes). Additionally, I reached out to the cafe on their Instagram and was met with a slightly rude response which was a little disappointing considering how much I had enjoyed their cafe. read more

Duggan's 'coffee'.. round #2! It appears the new thing, is that failing, crumbling narrow joints - crammed between noisy laundry cleaners and homeless folk eating off the curb - do what they must: resort to complaints on Yelp, about 1 photo's wrong angle. Lol! Not with Rebel Chef. I know culinaria. I DID stop at duggan's. I TRIED eating here! To NO avail! The 'coffee' was sludgelike, tasteless and way too burnt. Eggs dry and salty. Baked goods - I asked the employee - were bought 'somewhere' (not made), 'I don't know where, the owner buys cheap retail', the barista said. After driving for hours, I pulled up: only to find the employee parked her Nissan directly in front. Then the obnoxious 'Kevin' boxed everyone in with a cheap rumbling black used truck! We had to wait for proprietor 'kevin' to leave, 2 hours later! There's a giant parking lot out back, but.. you know; it's for those annoying patrons - not the employees..... or for arrogant 'kelvin' ... That said, this bar just is not worth your visit! When I came: the employee was asleep at the counter, 'coffee' was cold and thick: all the food was just ordered from some other place, not made fresh. Then my review disappeared. All of a sudden this place is supposed to be the next Diner?! You're kidding yourself. And all the 5 star reviews are by accounts with 40 reviews or less. JOKE! The breakfast is TASTELESS! Salty! Coffee was bland. Baked goods straight from a shelf at a 2018 WalMart. Owner was the embodiment of rude,smug, small to diners: who blocked the entire view from the shop! I washed my clothes right next to Duggins and today. I decided to go in and get a coffee and I was not disappointed. The young lady that took her order was super friendly and very nice and repeated everything back to us. I love the layout, though they have a glass windows in the front. You can sit by them and tables and chairs and get some sunlight, especially during this cool winters, and they have tables along one wall with the bench seating on one side and chairs in the other, which I really like. The two drinks we got were iced and they were really really good. Overall great little place taste like they had a fresh coffee grounds, and yes, you can tell the difference between fresh and old, and the staff is super friendly and I recommend coming here one morning if you're over by UNM. read more

Cute little place that serves authentically fresh coffee and almond milk lattes! Just visiting the area Duggan's reviews drew us here above the other places nearby. And when I called to ask about milk options the gentleman on the phone was nice and extremely patient considering I could hear the hustle and bustle in the background. There was a group of doctors ordering in front of me, each ordering breakfast, which made me wish we'd come here for breakfast rather than consuming the horribly hotel food we'd just had. Next time. We did however skip the horrible coffee at the hotel, and I'm so glad we did. My hubby consumed his coffee quickly, commenting on how delicious the roast was (he roasts his own so he's quite picky). We are staying in the area and we Yelped a good place to go for breakfast. This little hole in the wall came up so we decided to give it a chance. The breakfast was quality. We both had the Morning Edition, which is a standard two eggs, hashbrowns, choice of bacon or sausage, and toast. What rocked our world was the quality of the coffee drinks. I had the vanilla latte and my wife had the honey, oatmilk latte. It didn't have the burnt taste of Starbucks and was just wonderful. I had the opportunity to visit this cute lil spot after an early morning participation at the annual JDRF One Walk. The event was held at the Isotopes Park stadium so my girlfriend and I enlisted in the powers of the Yelp App to find something good nearby. Duggan's Coffee is what made the cut! All that walking sure did built up an appetite! The dining room is not terribly large. They have a small unit in a strip mall off of Lead. There were also three tables available outside on the sidewalk. Well, two, one of them was vacant but still had dished on it. Noted! The inside was packed. There was one table available. A good sign if you ask me! The menu was cute, all newspapery. I ordered a breakfast item called Metro and my girlfriend had the Morning Edition. We took a seat at the vacant table we saw outside earlier to wait for our sustenance. We just brought in the empty dishes from the patrons there before us. My Metro came with two perfectly fluffy and equally sweet pancakes with two sausage patties. I accompanied this with a dirty chai. Hats off to their barista! It was just the right everything! The temperature, the sweetness, even the foam! I must say that the pastries were looking quite tasty too! I plan to return to try some of their other items. Perhaps for the lunchy wunchy. The staff were very friendly as well! They are only open for breakfast and brunch and closed Sunday and Monday. Been meaning to check out this coffee place since I often pass it on my way down Lead headed for work. For those wondering, it's close to Yale next to Lobo Laundry, a barber shop and the store that sells pinhatas. Well, finally got by today and got a good feel for the place. The employee that attended us was very helpful and very keen on informing us about the business. He described how they'd been open a good amount of time but had been working on getting recipes and other kinks worked out to make sure their first impression was as positive as possible. Those are good words to hear, I'd say. The menu isn't too risque as far as I could tell, pour-over coffee options (today's were a Brazilian or Chiapan roast), mochas, cappuccinos and espressos, and chais and teas. Additionally, there were some cinnamon rolls and muffins on display and a menu that boasted a green chile chicken tortilla soup. So plenty of goodies to go around. I foolishly ordered the dirty chai, and I say foolishly because I have again made the mistake of not ordering coffee on my first visit to a coffee house. That's like ordering chicken at the steakhouse and I could kick myself for it. Anyhow, the dirty chai was cool, although the flavors, and particularly the spices, didn't pop like I'd have liked them too. This only reinforced my feeling that I should have done the right thing and ordered coffee. I can say for sure that the service was friendly, helpful and informative and the gentleman I spoke to took great pains to share some of the things they aim to do. He mentioned always having three to four national and international papers available (I didn't ask whether these would be free or for sale), which to me signified the business's devotion to customer's and creating an inviting atmosphere. The place itself is small and cozy and could easily become a hangout. Two folks seated when I arrived looked like professors and I could see this becoming a spot for the UNM/CNM crowd. This review is in the past tense, as I've moved away from this location. That said, if you're in the area I highly recommend it. I live walking-distance from Duggan's when in lived in the University area. I frequently walked to, or stopped on my way by to work. The parking is usually pretty easy, and while the shop is relatively small, I never had an issue finding a seat. The coffee was perfect every single time. We stopped in for a quick breakfast before heading out to do touristy things. Location was easy to find, and there was 1 hour free parking outside. We both ordered OpEd burritos with egg. They were cooked to order quickly and came out very hot and DELICIOUS. Especially loved the green chilies on top. Not too much, just the perfect amount. We also ordered a mocha and a latte, and both were extremely good (we were on a cross country road trip and hadn't had GOOD coffee in awhile, so it was like the heavens opened up at first sip!) When we travel, my wife and I like to avoid Starbucks and other corporate dining spots. This was a great find via Yelp and it lived up to all the excellent reviews. Duggan's is a trendy cool little spot tucked away on a side street in Albuquerque. Their coffee (Americano) was some of the best I've had. I learned that the barista is late of Starbucks which was obviously a mere training ground for the expertise he now possesses. They also make some tasty breakfast sandwiches which are fresh and filling. Their baked goods are very enticing and enjoyable. I had a chance to chat with the owner who is a former architect and resident of D.C. Very pleasant and intelligent fellow who's doing a smash up job at his second career with his wife who is in the kitchen cooking up some great breakfast dishes. Next time we're in Duke City, I will make a point of returning here and avoiding another visit to Starbucks. Footnote - while returning to our parked car, we stopped into the pinata shop next door and me Javier the owner/craftsman. I've been here about 6 times now and have yet to be disappointed. The first time I go to a new coffee shop, I like to try a plain latte or americano so I can get an impression of the espresso. So I had a double latte my first visit, and it came in this big beautiful white mug with just the right amount of foam and the perfect ratio of milk to espresso. Overall a very smooth mouthfeel. I'm also a big sweet tooth, so I also judge a coffee shop on its pastries. So far I've had a blueberry muffin, a triple berry tart, and a raspberry linzer cake (spelling?). The muffin was your typical muffin; not bad at all, but nothing to write home about either. But I love the triple berry tart because it reminds me of eating a slice of berry pie. The linzer cake is also delicious, definitely a close second to the tart. It's almost like a spice cake? I'm not really sure how to describe it, but if you're craving something sweet, it's a good option. I've also had the iced coffee 'cold brew', which is a nice alternative to the latte on a hot day (basically 3/4's of the year in ABQ!). Overall, this shop has a nice atmosphere. It's a small shop, so seating can be hard to find at lunch time, but it's clean, fairly quiet, and the staff is always very helpful and friendly. Charming little coffee shop (with an emphasis on LITTLE) on Lead just west of Harvard, on the edge of the University district. Check them out for another local alternative to the mermaid empire. The place is frequently busy (so a good sign) but their lack of seating at rush times sometimes is a bummer. There's about twenty seats inside and they've got a couple of tables outside too. Their burritos are tasty, they've got a small pastry case, a nice but limited selection of non-coffee drinks in the fridge, and they will do you a cappuccino bigger than your head. read more
