Perhaps the best breakfast burritos of of our entire visit! We found Madcrema on Yelp after we ran the Great Balloon Chase on Sunday morning. The goal was to find something easy with iced coffee, and this fit the bill. The location is absolutely unassuming in an urban area, with a few tables inside and outside and a huge parking lot. However, don't let that fool you. The employees are incredible: friendly, knowledgeable, and so ready to help. We were on a bit of a time crunch so we both got breakfast burritos (no meat, red and green chile), and coffees (a latte for him, and a cold brew with cream for me). They had the full complement of coffees, teas, and other drinks, as well as different egg sandwiches and pastries. They even had some vegan and gluten free options if I recall correctly. Our food came out quickly, and for about $8 each, we had an incredible breakfast. The food was hot (in temperature) with fresh tortilla stuffed with fluffy eggs, cheese, hash browns, and signature chiles. I didn't find either one spicy, but that's ok. Also worth mentioning that it was huge and I could only finish just over half (not to worry - my husband ate the rest, so nothing went to waste). It was also my first iced coffee of the trip, so I adored it. I also loved that there was a shelf of school supplies for teachers and students in need. This is a must do if you're in town. read more

Don't let the gravel parking lot and formidable structure of the main USPS across the street scare you away. Madcrema makes pretty good coffee, lattes, and a myriad of other coffee concoctions. It competes well with many of the coffeehouses in our region. They source their coffee from all over the Southern Hemisphere, from South America to Africa to Oceania. They roast the beans at their roastery four blocks up the road. Madcrema also makes mean, mad burritos. See what I did there? :) I love their breakfast ones which automatically come with eggs and cheese. You pick the meat and chile. They offer vegan treats, which is a major plus. Snapdragon Tea is their main baker. They make the kolaches and some of the pastries. Additionally, Madcrema likes to add baked goods from other local bakeries. They recently added smoothies to their menu featuring peach, mango, strawberry, and pineapple. Plain yogurt is the base, but it can be left out. They use coconut milk and a little bit of syrup, which can also be left out. Their absolute rule when purchasing eggs and meat is that it must be free-range, and organic as much as possible. Even better if it's local. They only use olive oil on their grill, making these menu items healthier. Every month they feature artwork from a different local artist. Madcrema has some games you can play while you're there and you can spread out in their larger dining area. I noticed they have coloring pages, which means they are kid-friendly, big and small. The owners are friendly, down-to-earth folks. Come check out their little coffeehouse! Again, it's right across the street from the main USPS office. read more

This is a small locally owned Cafe in broadway avenue. It is locally owned and operated by the owners. The owners are very friendly and welcoming. There is so many options in regards to their Cafe options and they include lactose free options such as chai tea with almond milk. You have the option to build your own madcrema drink and given several options for the syrups and diet free options are also included. Breakfast burritos are a must. Red salsa is not the greatest but the burritos definitely taste fresh and made when you order. Big portions and very reasonable prices. I love Madcrema!! The coffee and food is amazing, guaranteed to love whatever you get. The experience and atmosphere has easily become a favorite of mine over the last year. I get my morning coffee/breakfast here at least twice a week. I can go on and on, but I do want to note that my last few visits I've noticed the new barista really has ruin my experience. I've heard them multiple times verbally express frustration when customers walk in instead of greet them. Rushing through my order and then ending up with mistakes and offering unwarmed pastries (and never asked if I would like it to be). And when I did get it warmed, it was barely warmed to the point it was cold again by the time I made it to the car. Knocking over supplies like spoons and cups onto the ground out of frustration. A small little house located in one of the Albuquerque's oldest neighborhoods that's been turned into a community coffee shop. Friendly counter staff that really seems to want to serve and help! "New" coffee place. Across the street from the Main Post Office on Broadway. Just a block from Lomas. It's a small place, but with Big coffee. Locally roasted. Great customer service. Currently they are remodeling a small building that sits back from the street. We sat inside on a crisp morning, but they have a nice little outdoor patio. It was interesting to see the almost completed inside remodel. My coffee companion talked to one of the owners about progress, but to me it looks like it won't be long before the inside is officially open. Currently they are serving coffee and pastries from a "food truck". Great location across from the USPS. It will be hard going to the Post Office without stopping for a great cup of coffee. May need to make Madcrema a regular part of my errand runs. read more

this is my new favorite coffee shop. the space cannot be beat. it's cozy and comfortable. the outdoor area has plants and shady places to sit. there's sidewalk chalk to draw with and a cool white board to write fun stuff on. the food is delicious. i had a bacon, egg, cheese, and potato burrito. everything was done perfect. i also had an oregon chai which was delicious. the prices are reasonable and the people working there are really friendly. they have their own free parking so that's super easy. it's the kind of local friendly coffee shop with delicious things that we used to have back in the day. i hope they have music in their outdoor space in the summer time. read more

If you want to find a local place for breakfast or lunch, MadCrema is the place to go. This little gem tucked away on Broadway Blvd. NW is so reasonably priced. First trip, we ordered a breakfast burrito w/bacon, breakfast, everything bagel sandwich/with bacon and a Chorizo Egg stuffed Kolache. All were fresh made to order. Burrito and bagel sandwich had plenty of bacon and the kolache, which I've never had, did not disappoint. We also shared a yummy blueberry lemon scone. Our bill was less than $20 with a generous tip. The bagel sandwich was so good. I went back a few days later and had one for lunch. Next trip will be for a Cremosa drink. There is also a nice patio area to sit and plenty of parking. Wonderful little coffee shop/breakfast place. Had the chai latte with whole milk, good balance of spicy and sweet, a little more on the sweet side but wayyyyy less sweet than Starbucks and such. The breakfast burrito (bacon/green for me) was pretty much perfect. Decent heat on the chile, but not overpowering at all, and every bite was perfectly balanced, everything was all mixed together so no bite was just egg or just potatoes. One of the best I've had.
