Perhaps like grandma would make at home if your grandma lived at your house and would make a full menu of items for you whenever you wanted it! I ordered the fried chicken, sweet potato fries, and cabbage. It came with hushpuppies. I should note that I don't like most restaurant hushpuppies. These were light, crisp on the outside, and lightly sweet. These were worth eating. My chicken was good with a crunchy exterior but moist meat. The only thing I did not like (nor did my wife) was the ranch dressing. We like ranch on sweet potato fries, theirs were little containers of shelf-temperature dressing, not the good garlicky and buttermilk ranch I crave from many restaurants. I think this was Tom's brand. They were not worth eating. We did not have a desert but the brownies at the counter looked pretty good. Well let me tell ya.... this place is a cool little hole in the wall. The feel of the place has kind of the old school places churches gather. The service was amazing, gave good recommendations on food choices. Super quick, very kind. Service was amazing. To the food, well, everything seemed quickly put together. Maybe it's just today but the food didn't seem to have much effort put into it. The slaw is mayo based but lacked flavor, hush puppies were pretty good. The other nuggets in the corner were corn nugs! How cool is that.... they were a good combo of batter and corn, sweet and sassy. The chicken is what you would expect at a family gathering at ma maws but could tell it wasn't freshly cooked but hey, it's a Wednesday night. I got the Tuesday special, which was salbury Steak with gravy and onions. Side of cabbage, potato salad, and hushpuppies. Let me tell you the value is there. Great prices, home cooked grandma's style food. Cabbage was cooked wonderfully. The sweet tea was so good, and the staff gives you a piture to refill from. The issues I had were the booths. They were old and not much space between the table and booth to sit if you're a larger person. Also smelled like old people and cat pee. Wasn't a pleasant smell at all. Drove 18 minutes away because we wanted something different...an hour later we got our food (the place was not busy) and it was subpar. Our food was cold, not flavored or fresh ; missing sides that never came out and not worth the drive or wait. Service was worse it was as if we were avoided and the older woman working at the register was a tad bit rude, restaurant smelled weird but the kitchen looked somewhat clean...so that's a positive. read more

My dad was from a small town in the south, so I've been visiting small town restaurants my whole life. We were driving through the area when we made a stop for lunch at Duff's. Plenty of parking in the back. Friendly greeting and service. Drinks were immediately brought out. Nothing on the menu costs over $8.50. Incredible. I ordered the daily special of BBQ chicken. For sides, fried okra and collard greens. They throw in some hush puppies, too. BBQ chicken was tender. Sauce was a bit too sweet for me (I prefer it more vinegary). Fried Okra? I've been missing you. So hard to find in Cali. Collard Greens? Not at all bitter and prepared just right. Great lunch stop. read more

If you don't like country cooking . Then this place is not for you. The service here was great and never had to ask for a refill on my drink. The prices were about average as most places. Prices were close to Cracker Barrel's prices. The portions you get are not huge but will satisfy you. Everything here is served on or in styrofoam. The taste of the food is good and if you are calorie conscious. This place is not for you. This is a really good local place. Would I eat here again . Yes I would. it's been a while since i ate here but when i did, i was absolutely shocked! i couldn't believe a little place like this had such good fried chicken!! the service was great as well! there was a nice woman working there whom of which complimented me so much it made me blush but also made me smile & made my day! i haven't tried much else but locals love it and i have never heard a bad word about them! read more

Really good country cooking. The double cheeseburger, extra crispy fries were delicious. Chicken and pastry , rutabagas, and hush puppies were excellent. I didn't care for the collards. Desserts looked Jed great, but we were too full to consider the fresh strawberry shortcake and banana pudding. All this with in a sparkling clean restaurant and a friendly, efficient waitress. We stopped here for lunch yesterday on the way home from the beach. I was surprised due to all the good comments. There was a distracting odd odor, maybe some cleaning product? (I tried to ignore the odor since I do like cleanliness). The decor looks like it is the original work from 30 years ago and due for an update! Convenient and plentiful parking in the back. But only a slight attempt was made to hide the kitchen behind the checkout counter. I'm a native Carolinian, so the menu was very familiar with a good choice of "meat and two vegetables" entrees. I ordered a hamburger steak with onion gravy, fried okra and sweet potato fries with hush puppies. 5 stars on the fried vegetables and hush puppies were delicious. Perfect iced tea. My hamburger steak was actually just a very well-done hamburger (sans bun). Excellent sweet onions, but the gravy didn't taste homemade (loss of a star). I agree with other reviewers about the incredibly friendly service and fast food delivery. Change the name to "Duff's Friendly Fast Food" and I'd rate it high. However, if I wanted to eat lunch off a Styrofoam plate with plastic utensils, then I'd have chosen a national chain restaurant. And to remind customers of how wasteful this is there was a giant open trash bin overloaded with plastic garbage sitting in the middle of the dining area. Visit Duff's for the super service, the excellent iced tea and delicious fried vegetables. One would have to use a lot of imagination to call this a country cafe. read more

Old time grill that I was looking for. Went for cheeseburgers and hotdogs. But they offered much more. Very friendly and helpful staff.

I had grilled pork chops, fried okra, & peas. The chop was ok, but the vegetables were not very good.

Stopped here on the way home from the beach. Service was incredibly friendly, and food came out fast. I ordered the chicken fingers, which had a nice, light breading and were very juicy.
