10/10 best Jamaican food you can get in Jacksonville. Went there was impressed and now we plan on coming back and invited our friends to come with us. read more

I was so excited to try this place but was so badly disappointed in the food. I had the pulled chicken rasta pasta and my husband had the salmon. The total cost was over 40. Maybe it was because we got what was left over from the day, because it was a half hour before closing. But even if that were true.... there was barely any chicken, mostly bones. And it was so spicy, I couldnt taste the chicken. All it was, was burning my mouth. The pasta sauce was overspiced as well. My husband received a very small portion of trout. No rice was given, as it was supposed to be. I think maybe they were out of rice. So he was given a piece of cornbread, wrapped in plastic wrap. He gave it to me because i was so unhappy with my meal, I barely touched it. The cornbread was so oily, it fell apart when i took it out of the plastic. I got to taste the cabbage and cole slaw, those were ok. Cabbage was bland. I dont think we will go back and try again. Way too pricey for what we received. Positive note, the staff was kind and friendly, and the place was cute. read more

I'm picky about food in general, especially Mac & Cheese, but everything on the plate was delicious! I had the curry chick, Mac & cheese, and yams! I have no complaints but to add a little bit more curry sauce on the chicken. read more

Now I have been trying to get to Booby's Kitchen for some time now, however could never get my schedule to line up and being near. Let me tell you the short drive I had to get there and the food was incredible, let's dive right into. Jerk Chicken with Yams & Mac & cheese with a strawberry drink $21 (Lg I believe is what I ordered) Now I've never had Jerk Chicken before so this was a first and it was flavorful, great portion size, and a solid option. Tender fall off the bone meat, with a flavorful tag every bite. Now what I can say I am is a connoisseur of Mac & cheese and Yams and let me tell you. They did not disappoint, them yams and Mac & Cheese had me feeling as if I was back in Louisiana, with grandma back in the kitchen brought back some memories. The place hand really cool laid back vibe music in the back ground playing where you could hear it, however wasn't too loud to enjoy a conversation. 5/5 definitely will be taking the family to taste this place of heaven. read more

"What's in a name? That which we call a rose by any other name would smell just as sweet." William Shakespeare Don't let the name deter from visiting and dining here. The food is so flavorful. The jerk chicken was the best that I've ever had. The juicy moist chicken onto yellow rice. Was filling and flavor satisfied. The chef is the owner as she is simply the sweetest lady with magic hands, creating the food dishes. I thought the blueberry lemonade was sweet and tasty. I could have the whole half gallon. Please give this place a try. read more

The good. Nice restaurant and customer service is excellent. The bad (to me & hubby) the Jerk Chicken Pasta was too damn sweet. I absolutely, positively hate sweet food especially if if's not supposed to be sweet. I've never had sweet jerk chicken before and I never want to have it again. read more

Friendly staff and even better food. Very clean and HUGE portions. More importantly, the quality of the food was absolutely amazing and very well seasoned. The oxtails and chicken were so tender and flavorful! Booby's Kitchen is a must try especially in a town riddled with chain restaurants. 5/5 Service was vey authentic and the vibrations in the restaurant were filled with love and joy. It was easy to see the passion the owner had for her craft and business, her husband and child shortly appeared after I ordered and the husband went right to work helping with anything she needed while the owner asked her son to start his homework. THE FOOD WAS AMAZING I got the lamb chops fried chicken Ox tail and all of the sides my daughter and I loved the honey cornbread and Mac and cheese. I will soon return. read more

My family and I ate at this restaurant for the first time, someone raved about it so we had to try ourselves. We ordered Salmon plate(yellow rice, candied yams, collard greens), smothered chicken plate and fried chicken plate. Honestly we were not impressed. It took almost an hour to get our food. The young lady that took our order was polite and nice. But the food was not that great. The yellow rice and peas & rice was not seasoned tasted very bland. My salmon was small and tasted over cooked, I ordered lemon butter salmon and it tasted like a regular piece of salmon with just a lemon thrown on top of it. The smothered chicken was not smothered, it just had some light gravy thrown on top of it and again lacked flavor. Fried chicken was not seasoned, Mac & cheese was more on a sweet side, it wasn't bad just wasnt your typical Mac & cheese. The candied yams was the best thing on my plate and actually we all ate on that. The collard greens were very good as well. The vibe in there was nice and music was fitting. Overall we will not go back. Wanted to share a real review of the food and our honest experience. Sorry don't take pictures. read more

We went late one day about an hour before they closed. They were slammed and were running out of food. We were able to get some jerk chicken and what little they had left of the oxtail. I wish we'd been able to get more because it was delicious. read more

This is my second time here. The chef came out to ask, "if fifteen minutes for the jerk salmon was ok?" I said, "Yes! Both times it was well worth the wait. I don't understand the low stars for this place. I did see the 11 reviews that were glowing but were "weeded out" by the algorithm... I drove by this place a few days ago and googled it. After reading the menu we decided to try it out. First off, the place is so cute and welcoming! Obviously family run which just adds to its charm. Everyone was so nice and patient as we looked at the menu and decided what we wanted. We got butter lemon salmon with white rice and a double order of Mac and cheese, curried goat with rice and beans and a double order of Mac and cheese, and an order of Rasta Pasta with jerk chicken. We bought it to take home for dinner and it was about an hour before we could sit down and eat. Even an hour later the salmon was amazing. Full of flavor, and not dry at all. The rice was fluffy and cooked perfectly. The Mac and cheese again, even an hour later tasted amazing. The curried goat was so good! Not too much heat which was good because my nine year old got to try it and really enjoyed it. She kept stealing chunks of meat off my plate. My husbands pasta was so good I think I'm getting that next time! The portions were not small at all as some reviews said. I couldn't even finish my plate. Will DEFINITELY be returning! read more

I had a great first experience! The owner and her family were lovely. I ordered the oxtail over yellow rice and my sides were potato salad and mac & cheese. I also ordered the fruit punch. SLAPPPPSSSSS. Everything was very rich and flavorful. The highlight of my meal was definitely the ox tail! I normally don't do collard greens, but I tried my friends and it was very good so I will order it next time. The atmosphere was a simple café type vibe, clean and uncluttered. The food is amazing. These are Caribbean dishes with a personal flair to make them slightly unique. My wife and I tried this restaurant for the first time tonight. My chicken curry, cabbage and mac and cheese were incredible. My wife had the fried chicken with the same sides. This is not just any other Caribbean restaurant. The proprietor Boody will greet you warmly and direct you through her menu. You don't need to dress up for this place. It has the type of neighborhood charm where you are the neighbor. Music is upbeat, fun and pleasant. Wall painting is well done. Customer service: impeccable! Such a caring and attentive staff. Booby's is hands down the best food I have yet to find in Jacksonville and surrounding cities. I come from LA which is a melting pot of different cultures and some of the best foods in US. I've tried almost all the restaurants that have been recommended to me by locals and have been SO disappointed. That is until I found Booby's food!!!! fried chicken+ oxtails is what I continuously go back for ! I've only ever gotten To-Go and have only ever spoken to Booby(the owner) herself. The service coming from her is always straight forward but very friendly ! Ambiance when I have walked in has always seemed to be family friendly and repeat costumers.
