It's neither great nor amazing it's just what it is. Asian seafood in Jacksonville. Personally wasn't a fan and won't go back but I'm sure they have some things that are great. I've eaten here twice one door dash and one eat in. Had pho both times and it's just very bland. I didn't eat much of it both times. We were surprised to see this had a lower star rating. It deserves far better, and it's worth your time to give them a try. We had potstickers, coconut shrimp, and Pho. My wife had P3, and I had P2. The bowls were large. There was the traditional plate of fresh vegetables to add yourself, and plenty of meat in a savory soup base. There was enough to bring some home, which I ate that night with my dinner. We also had really good coconut smoothies that we will want to get again and again. All in all, we were impressed with the service and quality. They also do seafood boils, which looked good too. We will be back to try that next time! read more

Discovered this hidden gem and SO glad we did. We'd been shopping and decided to have a light dinner before heading home. They have a great menu with unique choices. Chose the flounder & shrimp basket. The well seasoned breading was incredibly light and crisp, and fish & shrimp very fresh. The fries at this place are amazing! Love being able to get a variety of boba and bubble teas or smoothies! The service is top notch, caring and efficient. Celebrated our son's birthday with a huge tray of crab legs. He got old at and butter seasoning - delicious. My husband and I ordered catfish, shrimp and oyster baskets. We haven't been since our first visit - mostly because we don't really thinking about driving into this shopping center to dine. It was night and day difference from our first visit when they opened. Service was EXTREMELY slow (only 2 tables in the restaurant). Food was terrible. Nothing tasted good. Seasoning was either way off or just had a terrible aftertaste. Even my salad had a chemical flavor to the lettuce. Our waitress was more interesting in talking to the other gal behind the counter and couldn't bother herself to come check on us. This is my second time coming here. They have absolutely amazing food. I don't know what's with the other low reviews on Yelp, but both times I came here it was fantastic. I had the catfish plate that comes with 3 pc fish, fries and hushpuppies. They season their food very well. It was hot and fresh and it was so good that I ordered a second plate. We would agree with other reviewers - this place deserves more stars than it has in Yelp. Google reviews had a much better representation of the quality. We had the seafood Pho soup and beef Pho soup, mango tea, and regular ice teas. The beef had a good flavor but the seafood was our favorite. Our service was excellent while not being intrusive. The amount of Pho soup in our respective bowls amounted to more than either of us could finish. Despite being hungry we were only able to eat about half of our bowls and had to take the rest with us. The restroom was clean and we were there around 6 PM. Someone nearby had the 2 snow crab clusters which were delivered hot and steaming to the table. They said that their food was excellent. I waited 20 minutes for a crab tray that costed 46 dollars for me and a couple of friends but it was only an enough to feed one person. And I waited another 15 minutes for a crab cake po-boy tray. There was not that many people when I visited but the customer service was great. I ordered the seafood boil with snow crab cluster and headless shrimp. The food was okay. I've never been here before but I saw they had Pho so I figured I'd check it out. First impressions are important and unfortunately, they failed with us. I got their Pho to go. This was their Round eye steak and meatball. I've had Pho many times before in various restaurants and never once did the meat come out raw. Started slow, then a Home Run So this restaurant just opened and we "me & the wife" decided to give it a shot tonight! In progression the apps started with a lukewarm Gumbo, upon request it was heated to the proper temperature. There might have been one scoop of rice, I would recommend doubling the amount of rice given, and cooking the okra alittle more. Overall the Gumbo taste was good. Then there was the ordering of the charbroiled oysters? Picture attached - What was received was not charbroiled oysters this I do not recommend. Now to the main dishes- After finding out there were no substitutes and finding out the seafood restaurant does not have remoulade or even knows what remoulade is we settled on our main dishes. Dungeness crab and shrimp and King crab and shrimp done in Cajun seasoning both were cooked to perfection. ( The main course is the reason will be back ) For the dessert we ordered the beignets to go couldn't wait till we got home so we tried one when we got in the car it tasted like the ones I'll make it home and they were damn good! My only other criticism would be the staff putting on top table around me while I'm eating making feel like I'm in a prison and isolating everybody inside the restaurant. When i first walked in the whole restaurant smelt like a fish market you know that really overwhelming fishy smell? Yeah that one. I decided to sit with my family to give them a chance so our food comes out I got their cajun chicken my mother got calamari and my father got fried catfish and shrimp we all agreed that the oil was old and made the food taste rancid. I would also advice avoiding the bubble tea and Beignets. I swear to you when our Beignets came out we mistook them for brownies! They were burnt beyond recognition! Don't get me started with the music either it was horrible!!! Do not recommend avoid at all costs... It's a shame too because my family on my dads side is from Louisiana and we're creole and i can tell you this is no where near authentic i would rate 0 stars if yelp gave the option too do so. read more

I came to Reds Crab Shack with the mind set that it would be a seafood boil place just like Raleigh Crab shack and was ecstatic that Jacksonville finally opened up a seafood boil place. To say the least, I was disappointed. This place opened up about 3 weeks ago so I would understand being short on servers but the servers seemed to be very inexperienced and awkward. Our server took our order for an appetizer then proceeded to take our menus and walk away before we could place our actual orders. We had gotten sweet potato fries (bland with no seasoning and burnt), raw oysters (did not taste fresh), and chargrilled oysters (also bland and not fresh). For our main course we had the combo RC2 (1lb king crab with 1/2lb shrimp). We initially asked if we could do all all three flavors for the seasoning in which they said they couldn't do but were able to bring them out on the side for us to add ourselves which ended up being all very too sweet for our liking. The King crab was cooked very well and was by far the more tasty option we'd chosen but the shrimp seemed to be previously frozen and small. The prices seem to be fair for seafood but not for the quality of seafood they serve. I honestly would not come back unless it were for the king crab. read more

The server on the other hand was super stand offish, she played on her phone pretty much the entire time taking selfies. Originally I would've given my experience and food critique 3 stars (and 3 stars is being extremely generous). The waitress was pleasant but could not answer any basic questions about the menu. I gave it a one star because the owner came out in a fairly aggregated manner and began to accuse us of eating all the food and not paying for it. My friends and I let her go in for a minute before we showed her the $70 + $30 tip receipt that we had in fact paid. The well-tipped waitress, who should've explained the situation correctly, was nowhere to be found. There were 100 other tactful ways to have handle this situation. My suggestion to owners; 1- invest in experienced waiters that can elevate your business and answer pertinent questions in the menu; 2- Hire a consultant who can train the staff to handle situations accordingly. There is no reason why the owner/chef should come out defensively accusing customers of not paying. All whilst waving our leftover food baskets telling my party "You ate all this food, you need to pay!" Based on the food alone, I would not return.
