Wife and I decide to try Steve's for the first time. Located at the end of an old strip mall. As you enter, there's plenty of places to sit and the register is kind of hidden behind the beverage station. The menu is fairly simple and prominently displayed high behind the register and prep area. We were greeted by a nice young lady who also took our order. We ordered the club sandwich, pasta salad, lemonade, ham/turkey/roast beef sandwich, side salad, and a water. I was a little disappointed they use canola oil. Our food was delivered after a short wait. Everything looked good and we also liked the sandwiches being a normal size. It's rare these days. Sometimes it's nice eating normal size portions. Overall everything was pretty tasty. We enjoyed our meal here and will definitely return. Recommend giving them a try read more

Being from upstate NY, I have been searching high and low for a sub shop that actually served good quality subs. There are plenty of chains in the area but they do not compare to a local sub shop. Steves's really met all of my expectations. A cute little dining room with plenty of seating leads you right up to the front counter. We were met right away at the counter and given plenty of grace as we looked over their menu. We chose our preferred subs and worked our way down the counter where we got to customize our subs with all the fixins you could need. Additionally we were offered a house made pasta salad that was just so so good. We will definitely be coming back regularly!!! read more

Well, I can honestly tell everyone, this was the best sub I have ever eaten! Ohhh, soooo very delicious!!! The roll tasted as though it had been just baked - the freshest ever tasting bread! For myself, and I can probably vouch for others, if the sub roll is not fresh, then the sandwich will not be as tasty and pleasing. This was my first time ordering a sub from Steve's, since I live out of town, where there are too few food establishments and only 1 place that sells subs in a pizza restaurant. My spouse was going to Jacksonville, so I searched online for a sub place rated with great reviews, that also showed photos to view as well. I chose Steve's Subs. I ordered online, and also requested how I would like my meats sliced. Also, the online ordering has specific itemized choices to my liking. I received exactly what was ordered. This sub has exceeded my expectations, and now, the only place that will satisfy me when craving a sub is Steve's Sub and Salads! Was at this establishment today and Steve the owner was very rude to one of his workers. Myself and other customers were appalled. We will not be patronizing this restaurant any more. I rarely go there any way unless I have business close by. Stepping in, you can immediately feel the warmth of the employees that actually want to give great service. I noticed two older gentlemen dining in and a few other customers that came in after me - this is definitely a longstanding, local sub shoppe. I ordered a small turkey & cheese "all the way" plus 2 other toppings. The gentleman making my sub took the time to make conversation with each of us & was genuinely glad to be there talking with each of us. What a breath of fresh air! My sub had a nice toast to it and each of the ingredients was fresh. The seasoning/flavor of the oil & vinegar and oregano was superior to any other sub shop in Jacksonville, in my opinion. The only downside is them not being open on the weekends. This would be my go-to on Saturday drives out to Onslow Beach this summer! read more

Came in during rush hour lunch with a line and thought there was no way I was going to get my food in time to get back to work. I was through the line, at the register, and out the door in about 20 mins. I ordered a gyro and a club sandwich. They have a great sandwich selection to include reubans, pastrami, cubans, and vegan. I've been looking for a place that has a good Italian sub and I'm happy to say I've finally found it. Everything is made to order, and they slice the meat fresh once you place your order. I ordered a large Italian, "all the way" (lettuce, tomato, onion, oil & vinegar, oregano, and salt & pepper), with banana peppers, which did not cost extra. Needless to say, it was exactly what I wanted and totally hit the spot. Next time I'll get a small, because a large was enough to share. Service was good, friendly, and fast, and although the place itself is a little dated as far as decor, who cares -- it's very clean and neat and the food is great. Prices are awesome ! Food is good. I always order the chef salad a club sandwich and pasta. All of which cost about $13. That's a steal ! I figured hey I eat here so much why not try to work here. They've had a hiring sign up every time I went in and the hiring sign is still up now. I asked were they hiring and the lady manager was hesitant but said yes and agreed to interview me. I had already knew before the interview based off the vibes I was receiving from her and Steve that I wasn't going to get hired nor was I going to fit their aesthetic. Despite the vibes I received from them I still go to purchase my food because it's reasonably priced. . . If you see a now hiring sign there and you look like me - I wouldn't waste the time even applying. Just get your food and go .
