I recently came here for their grand opening a few weeks ago and was absolutely amazed. The staff was so friendly and welcoming from the minute I walked in. I loved be able to see your donuts made right in front of you, with flawless dipping and powdering technique! I had the pleasure of trying Duck Donuts in 2018 in a location in North Carolina. The idea of having a warm doughnut freshly frosted peaked my interest. The service seems consistent from North Carolina all the way to the Queens location . You can order through a kiosk in the front and also sign up for rewards before doing purchases so you get some nice credit for future delights. You can also order directly with the cashier. The atmosphere here is a positive one . All the employees were kind, and the transaction was seamless. You have to watch the production line as these awesome employees prepare these delectable donuts. We chose six different types, half a dozen was $21. Well worth the price. There are a few seats, but most people take the donuts to go. You can also order ahead and pick up in the front. We opted to grab a plastic knife, sit in the car and cut the donuts into pieces so that we can try each one. My goodness they were incredible! It's located at the same plaza where Kohl's and AMC is. Plenty of free parking in the shared plaza parking lot. We went on a Tuesday afternoon during spring break. I was second in line to place order but still took a while. Customers are not used to the menu and it took a while. There were a lot of choices and it took a bit longer for the kids ti decide. There was a self order kiosk but that was worse. A few teenagers was hovering over it for over 10 minutes at least. It is $3.50 a donut. Different pre designed flavors or you can order your own combination for the same price: coating, topping and drizzles. Donut was made in sure so it was nice and warm. It is a vanilla cake donut. You can watch the staff to decorate your donuts step by step up close. One of my kids ordered the customized ones: vanilla coating, rainbow sprinkles and fudge drizzles. My other kids got the same except marshmallow drizzles. Donuts was then placed in boxes. It was convenient to take it to go. There are 5-6 seats by the front big glass window with counter table top. No other real tables. The temperature of the whole store was warm which may due to the donut machine and the warming of all the coatings and drizzles. Store merchandises are displayed and for sale. My kid bought a stuffed animal donut duck for $12. There were T shirts, mug, travel mug ($16) and rubber duckies ($2). Taste of the donuts was wonderful. Nice and warm and fresh. Of course it's sweet as expected. Next time will try their maple bacon combo. Looking at the poster, they also offer whole day breakfast, that is bacon cheese and egg donut sandwich! Don't forget to download the app. It gives you one free donut. You can also earn reward points to redeem goodies. It also texts me promotion such as $5 off two assortments for the past weekend. I thoroughly enjoyed these donuts. Now, I'm a yeast donut person over a cake donut any day and I don't think that will ever change. But I will say that these were absolutely delicious and the flavors were yum!! We got a dozen the day that they opened. My husband went to get them and they were still warm when he got home. So I cannot speak on the service or the place itself. My favorite was the sunrise and the chocolate covered strawberry. The blueberry pancake was one that stood out as well. The s'mores was a favorite with my kids. They are denser than regular yeast donuts but they were soft and a perfect chew. Now, at $30 for a dozen I don't think these will be a regular dessert stop for us. I think they'd be great for a special occasion or treat though. The store and theme was cute. The donuts were very good. So what's the problem. Let's start off with the good. The donuts are made to your specifications so there are a variety of choices from French toast to Maple Bacon Donut. I had the Maple Bacon donut breakfast sandwich with bacon. (Yes! I love bacon!) I was worried it would be greasy and disgustingly sweet but it was surprisingly light with the right amount of sweet and savory. My husband had the French Toast and Blueberry pancake. He said it was very sweet but good. He also had the mocha ice coffee which was also very sweet. So the main problem is the speed. It would be helpful if there was a large board with all the donuts listed so that customers don't have to wait until they go up to the counter to order. Once the order was placed it took almost 20 minutes to fill. They individually dipped the donuts into the glaze and painstakingly add the other ingredients. After we got the donuts we had to wait for the ice coffee because no one bothered to make it until the donuts were done. Another person came in to pick up an online or telephone order but they were not done with it either. As good as the donuts are I can't see this place lasting unless they can get their production faster. read more
