My family and I decided to take an impromptu trip to get donuts. I heard this place opened and wanted to try it out. I didn't have any expectations or information about it before we went. We arrived there in the mid morning on a Sunday. It was not very crowded and the service seemed pretty fast. The anxious introvert in me was SO happy to see a kiosk where you could order your donut without having to talk to anyone or have anyone behind you in line waiting. We mostly got the build your own donuts because we're specific and picky. But the "favorites" all looked very good and we will definitely try them next time. It's in a shopping center with a parking lot which is nice convenience especially for NYC. The donuts itself are delicious. The base donuts are light and fluffy and there seem to be a good amount of toppings to choose from. The atmosphere is comfortable. There are some tables in the front to sit, but most people get their donuts and skedaddle. I would recommend another kiosk there, as there is only one right now. Duck donuts is a very cute place and obviously ducks are the theme. You place your orders with the cashier and then they make the donuts fresh. I like their plain donuts, but it's pricey just for plain ones. The dipped ones on the other hand are way too sweet. My kids love sweet and they said it's too sweet. 07/15/2023 - Another trip to Duck Donuts and I am pleased to say that they had milk available. The donuts were fresh and delicious. Tried the peanut butter paradise again and this time the icing tasted like peanut butter. 07/01/2023- Decided to give this Duck Donuts a second chance. ‍ First things first. How do you specialize in donuts and you have no milk available? ‍ Not a drop of milk available to purchase. Hubby ordered me two donuts. Peanut butter paradise and chocolate explosion. The chocolate explosion was tasty ... just missing some milk to wash it down. The peanut butter paradise did not taste correct at all. There was no peanut butter flavor in the icing. Made hubby taste it to make sure it wasn't just my taste buds running rampant. He agreed the icing was not peanut butter. We honestly have no idea what the flavor was. I guess I'll wait a few more months to try them again. For now I'll stick with the Duck Donuts in Garden City Park. They are always on the money and they have milk available. read more

Don't think you could ever go wrong with a donut. This place is unique. I was expecting to be able to compare their donuts to the holly grail Krispy Kreme, and Dunkin Donuts as well....in my opinion you can not. All three business are different so I will say this place stands out as another unique donut business. Krispy Kreme the donuts without any toppings just seem to caramelize when they reach your palate. These do not do that. They are soft but the batter is thicker and has a slight crunch (hard to explain). This place stands out from the rest because I have never seen Krispy Kreme or Dunkin allow you to place an order for a specialty donut and they make it right before you. Overall yummy I experience with plenty of specialty options to chose from. They have a very tiny window bar table that can seat around four people. Don't expect to eat inside here. We took our donuts outside and ate them on a bench since it was a decent day out. read more

The gimmick here is that the make donuts to order. The way this works is that they have a batch of plain donuts that are made regularly and then are glazed and top with a wide variety of sugary goodness to order. The results are pretty good - it's nice to see any variety in donuts in a town dominated by Dunkin - and it's a neat gimmick. It's a bit on the pricey side, but it's not bad as a special treat. The downside here is really slow service. Some of it is part of the setup - it takes a while to make each donut, especially if the person in front of you is ordering a large batch for a special event. As such, you'd think the chain would be optimized for efficiency, with well trained workers getting orders out quickly. Instead, it's just the reverse. The first problem is that the menu board that shows the actual donut toppings (which is really what you're here for) is only available on a small placemat right at the counter. So there's no way to pick out in advance what you want. Which means that the orders in front of you take quite a while as everyone picks out exactly what glaze and other toppings they want. They've got some large menu display over the counter, but these just have the prices and coffee offerings. The real problem at this location, at least on the day I was there, was the staffing. Everyone was friendly enough, but there were at least five people working and only one person actually making donuts. All told it took us over 20 minutes just to stop in for a couple donuts on a morning when the store wasn't even that crowded. read more

Very excited highly anticipated for this grand opening. Donuts are great but service is lacking. Cashier did not understand what a cafe mocha was and asked us 3x what we wanted. Also ordered the frappe which was met with some confusion as well. We got our donuts after a wait. But no coffees in sight. We waited 5 more minutes after eating our donuts and went up to ask. They were just making it. What we got was warm chocolate milk no coffee flavor. The frappe was the same icy chocolate milk. Custom donuts. This is a great idea and a lot of fun making a special combination of toppings just for your own tastes. The doughnuts themselves are just delicious, soft old fashioned doughnuts with a very slightly crisp outside, the texture is absolutely perfect to the point I'm constantly tempted to just get the doughnuts with no frosting or anything on them. The single drawback of this model is that there are no filled doughnuts, so you're a little out of luck if you're a cream- or jelly-filled fan. They also do tons of business so be ready to wait a little bit or make sure to order in advance. And if you're on the fence about getting an egg and cheese breakfast sandwich with a doughnut as the bread? Go for it; despite how odd it sounds on paper, their doughnut pairs perfectly with the flavors, and if you're REALLY daring you can even get some of the doughnut toppings on it! They direct you to their website to order for delivery and the delivery never comes. When you call they tell you it's sitting here but we don't deliver... well I paid a delivery fee and added a $10 tip for the driver on their website... now they say they don't deliver after their employee told me to order for delivery on their website. They say reorder through Grubhub and call corporate for a refund of the prior order tomorrow. I, again, followed their instruction and ordered from Grubhub. Again, no delivery no contact so we called. Grubhub... they wont deliver to our hotel. So, we have paid for donuts twice and got nothing. Walked to Dunkin' Donuts and got donuts for 1/2 the price. I am out $107 for Duck Donuts I never received. I guess their donuts are good (I'll never find out).Advice: don't select delivery on their website as they suggest because they don't deliver but will take your delivery fee and tip and let your donuts sit there. read more

Like many I was looking forward to duck donuts coming to fresh meadows however I encountered the worse customer experience from their staff. I had a reward from their app for a free dozen donuts that and for some reason it wasn't working and was charged to my credit card on file. When I told the representative Jasmine that my reward didn't take her comment was "oh well you were charged" and had a horrible attitude. Next up my kids have a tree nut allergy and when Duck donuts first opened I was informed that they would change their gloves when preparing donuts for people with nut allergies. However their rep Jasmin replied to us "you didn't order nuts and was extremely rude and didn't want to change her gloves. The team leader heard this response and was not compassionate nor apologize for this horrible experience. I asked the team leader when will the manager be around and they said the following business day in the afternoon. I called next day and the staff member said they don't know when the manager comes in. After several attempts and days later I finally got to speak to manager to express my concerns and I was informed that their rewards from the app is not working for a lot of their customers which should have been conveyed to me by their unknowing staff. Also the manager lacked empathy and was not compassionate when I spoke about my kids nut allergy. As a parent I feel that Duck Donuts needs to train their employees on providing customers with a positive experience, they need a knowledgeable team leader on staff, need to be understanding of tree nut allergies and how it effects their business model and do better for the fresh meadows community. Instead of a sweet experience you left myself and family with a sour taste in our mouths. I will not be supporting your business no longer. read more
