Unbelievably fabulous. Group of 4 of us And we were going to order a half duck along with several other dishes. The staff convinced us to order the full duck and I'm so appreciative that we did as that came with a soup made from the duck bones. Everyone there was so kind and answered any of our questions we had about the menu. Another table sitting next to us had a birthday along with someone at our table and we had a group happy birthday song. Ideally, I would give this place 3.5 stars. I ordered takeout online while staying in the area for work. It's a cart-style dim sum Chinese restaurant, so there's several round tables and booths inside. I ordered a wonton soup and "small duck." I expected the small duck to be a single portion of roasted duck cut into pieces over a bed and rice (maybe some green veggie on the side too), but there was no picture. It turns out it is a single peking duck-style wrap - not at all what I was expecting, but the flavor was OK. It was a slightly larger than normal wrap for $8-9. But since I thought the duck was going to be presented differently, I added a side of white rice for $2 when I got there to pick up my order; ultimately, I didn't really need the rice. The wonton soup came with 3 wontons, which were OK, but kind of bland. And something tasted off about the broth; I'm not sure if it was just bland or if it tasted like dishwasher water. The 2 women working were very nice despite limited English (one more than the other); the woman from the kitchen gave me free duck wings/feet when she brought me my rice out (if I was closer to home I'd take these home to make a broth with them), so that was a kind gesture. And, my order was ready on time! I would try the twice cooked pork next time, and maybe the BBQ pork buns or Shanghai pork buns, before deciding if this place is worth it. read more

This small Asian restaurant was formerly Sun Garden but it changed hands several years ago. Their specialty is Beijing (or Peking) duck which usually is a day-ahead, special order menu item. I went for lunch after reading about it in the Cincinnati Enquirer and tried their Singapore Noodles. You pick the style of food you want then choose the protein like chicken, shrimp, beef, etc. Most dishes can be ordered in a lunch portion or dinner portion. My noodles with shrimp was $9.95 and the portion size included 6 large shrimp. It was more than I could eat. A cup of soup and a thin egg roll was an extra $3. The Asian restaurant nearest me charges $10.95 for a lunch portion but that includes a cup of soup, a deep fried chicken drumlet and a crab Rangoon as appetizers. Everything I had at Duck Beijing House was fine but nothing stood out. Decor was simple and there are both tables and booths for seating. It's located in a strip mall and there is plenty of parking. The menu is extensive and they offer both a dim sum pushcart and Beijing duck every day. That's pretty ambitious, in my opinion. They don't have a full bar but wine and beer are available. I'll probably stop there again for the duck. A solid 3 stars and worth a revisit. read more

This gem is hiding in plain sight in a strip mall on the outskirts of Cincinnati. When you walk in, it is a calm atmosphere with a variety of table sizes. We came on a Monday night and were the only customers! Peking duck is one of my favorite dishes of all time and I haven't found any in Cincinnati (until now!). The 2 of us split the half duck as well as 3 types of dim sum. I am by no means a dim sum pro, but they were relatively tasty. From reading other reviews, it seems like on busier days they walk around with their dim sum cart, which is fun, but tonight it was just us so we ordered off the menu. The duck was the real star of the show. With the half duck you get 10 wrappers, the sliced duck, and the wrapping filling (cucumber and green onion) along with the sauce. The skin of the duck was crispy and fatty and delicious and the meat was tender and well cooked. We will definitely be back the next time we are craving Peking duck. It was not quite as perfect as duck I've had in China Towns in big cities, but certainly the best (and only?) I have found in the Cincinnati area! read more

Came here as I was craving for duck and dimsum. Got seated and was ignored for 15min.. other tables had to stop the servers and let them know we've been waiting before we were attended to... I asked for extra sauce for my dimsum but food came, and no extra sauce... my duck came, we ate and spend another 15min to flag someone down again. And again, customers from other tables had to inform servers we were needing help.... told the server I needed the bill and duck sauce to go, waiting another 15 min for someone to even come with the bill. At this point I was so tempted to just walk out. But the angel on my shoulder told me not to leave without paying... In short, service totally sucks! Alot of long wait time where people just walked pass us and completely ignore us..... feels like all of them are more interesting in entertaining their friends and family more than other customers.. so unless you know someone here, you're probably looking to get ignored. Strip mall front, but a surprisingly large back room that boasts large party seating (complete with lazy Susan for the family style experience), and dim sum carts everyday. We order apps and we are waiting and waiting ... come to find out they delivered them to the wrong table... when we addressed this with our waitress she got snippy with us and blamed the other customer for not saying anything 3. finally got our apps after our main entrees...this is also when we got our mixed drinks we ordered when we got there 4. First of all I wanted to love this place because my daughter loves it. Had dinner here on a weekday night and they were not busy. Service was friendly but inconsistent. The food came out quickly, except we had to ask about the pork wontons we ordered that they forgot to bring out. Also, had to ask for our water to be refilled. Overall the food was good and the portions were large. My daughters love the chicken fried rice. I had the Hunan chicken and it was good. My wife enjoyed the Kung Pao chicken. The egg rolls were good, but the pork wonton was forgettable. I will give this place another shot. Next time, I think I will try the duck since that is the specialty. read more

I'm going to preface this by saying that they are the duck Beijing house and so it should tell you that they are known for their Peking duck. However, being dimsum enthusiasts, we were unable to resist the traditional dim sum push carts and got dim sum too. Their dim sum was ok. Their Peking duck though blew me away. Ducks are masters of the water, land and air and duck Beijing house has truly done this noble species justice. The skin is perfectly roasted, the meat tender and not too fatty. When combined with the wrappings, cucumbers and sauce, it is truly a complete package. This has made it to my list for go-to Peking deck place and I will be back read more

I'm flying solo tonight - so, I thought to myself - why don't I go get some Duck! The menu reads like any Chinese restaurant you might be familiar with - the server greeted me politely and took my drink order right away - I was surprised that the restaurant was almost empty when I arrived - Saturday Night at 5:30pm should see the place filling up - I ordered the combo appetizer plate which included several fried items and one severely overcooked pork rib - the crab Rangoon was pretty good - but the fried pork won ton and the egg roll were fairly average - the hot and sour soup was really good - it was a nice start to the meal - of course I made the mistake of ordering sweet and sour pork at a restaurant that highlighted their Duck dishes - call ahead for reservations if you have four or more in your party - the dining room is fairly small - four booths and several large round tables - I imagine the place gets filled up quick on the weekends - the ambiance is fairly quiet - not the usual Asian music playing in the background - the lack of music lent to a subdued atmosphere for sure - all in all an average experience - they offer dim sum - you might look up their hours for service - I didn't see a menu for the dim sum - to be fair, I didn't ask for one! read more

I hosted 11 people here a few days ago, and the experience was even better than my past take-out experiences! Our hostess patiently explained their presentation of duck (2 people can share a half a duck; it comes on a platter, accompanied by wrappers and a filling (scallions and cucumber slices), answered all our questions, and when the duck dishes arrived, demonstrated to the whole table how to assemble the wrap, sauce, duck, and fillings into a traditional "duck burrito." Those who partook of it describes it as authentic, fresh, and succulent!! Many others in our table chose from the many other options, which were equally fresh, creative, and delicious!! My favorite was the bourbon chicken. My only disappointment was that the beautiful back room was closed, and we were seated next to the bar in the front room -- but since this was a light night for customers and it would have been more expensive to air condition another room in this pervasive heat, I definitely understand. All in all, a great opportunity for fresh, authentic food and the gastronomic experience of eating duck -- and other amazing dishes -- in style. read more

We came for dim sum, there were plenty of tables and we were quickly seated. The service was great- they were quick to serve and switched out our plates when it got dirty. The food came out in traditional carts. There was plenty of food on each cart but everything seemed kinda flavorless. The shrimp didn't taste very fresh. The beef ho fun noodles and fried rice were missing the traditional smokey flavors. We've had the Peking duck for Chinese New Year and it was okay, the skin wasn't very crispy and overall it lacked any specific flavors. read more

We came here for dim sum over lunch with our children and everything was absolutely fantastic. The restaurant is extremely kid friendly, staff and service were wonderful, and the food was absolutely delicious. The perfect trifecta. We had 3 different types of shrimp dumplings, steamed pork bun, chicken feet, sticky rice, egg tart, and a custard bun. Everything was delicious. We will be coming back to try out their duck. We're in town for a basketball tournament and my daughter wanted Chinese food. Based on reviews we came here and boy was it GREAT! Dim sum everyday! And you know it's legit dim sum when there's chicken feet and tripe in the carts! Everything was fresh and they had Cheung Fun (shrimp and beef, lo mai gai (sticky rice in lotus leaf) with a lop cheung sausage, chicken, mushrooms, & water chestnuts inside. We also got Jin dui which was piping hot and so delicious. And the beef chow fun was incredible. The dim sum is as good as what we used to get in the San Gabriel Valley in LA and Honolulu. A nice hole in the wall off a main highway! I stopped here because I was craving Asian food and most places are closed on Mondays and Tuesdays. So this being opened on a Monday was already a nice surprise! I got the lunch special with beef in garlic sauce. A great meal for a great price with an egg roll and choice of soup. Deeeeeeeelicious! From the outside it does not look like much, but don't let that fool you. There is small and elegant front dining room, but the treasure lies in the larger, more casual dining room in the back where the dim sum cart rolls around. The staff was friendly and helpful. We found all of the classic dishes you'd expect of a midwest Chinese food restaurant, but I'd highly recommend trying something you've never tried before from the expansive menu. We sampled buns from the dim sum cart, shared a half Peking duck, and chrysanthemum tea. I've never had duck before and found it to be tender and tasty. It was a real treat. Most of the negative reviews you'll find for this place will pertain to the perceived service or atmosphere, rather than the actual quality of their food. Not sure how this place got the 5/5 rating. We were excited to give this place a try. First, the service is dreadful. It took them 5 mins to figure out where we could sit and the place is practically empty. It took them another 10 mins before coming to us while they were serving the people who came after us. The staff were talking among themselves while ignoring us. When the food finally came, some were completely cold and the rest were poor quality. The atmosphere is simply depressing as you watch the staff being totally incompetent and apathetic. Overall, I would be generous to give them 2/5. I don't think I will be back.. read more
