Nice waitress, but the food was really really really not good. There are plenty of places to eat in Baton Rouge for not only better food in general, but specifically better Vietnamese food. Why did I get an iceberg lettuce "salad" with two cherry tomatoes in the same bowl as my shrimp vermicelli? More importantly, why did my food taste like cardboard and why was my meal over $10 with a water when it looked like 25 cents of food? Like I said, the food was very very very not good. Stumped across this place while visiting Tiger Stadium. It's a local mom and pop that reaches a certain community niche. Simple basics of sushi and pho caught my attention. The beef pho here is good. Not a great deal of sodium and the broth/soup was rich. The size and quality of the bowl made me wish I had ordered extra noodles to go with all the broth. Came for the sushi. Stayed for the Pho. This restaurant itself is a fun environment that is relaxing and casual. Me and my gf ordered a bowl of beef fried rice (which was delicious and filling on its own), a bunch of sushi rolls and some Pho. We got way more than we bargained for. I went to this place because I was in a time crunch and had been a little intrigued by their funny name. I was pretty disappointed. Nothing was bad per se, but it certainly was not anything special. The reason I give 2 stars is because of the prices. I realize sushi will always be more expensive than most food but I have gotten much better sushi for less. Even their basic cheap rolls were overpriced. I've never seen a spicy tuna roll for more than $5.00. Theirs is $6.50 AND it was only so-so. Yes, this is only a small difference but it adds up in groups and, even more notably, when you can get better quality for less. Service was nice though; young college girls who were attentive and sweet. My friend got the pork vermicelli or something like that- it was good. Not my style because it was kind of on the sweet side (Thai-style almost) but it was fine and she liked it a lot. This place wasn't awful but I won't be back. read more

I have been a loyal customer for years. However, I recently dined in and saw their horrible customer service. I mistakenly ordered a sushi roll with tobiko on it (fish eggs). I dont eat that and before I touched it I politely asked the waitress if she would exchange it. She loudly yells across the restaurant about it. Then an off-duty waitress sitting next to us who was apparently eaves-dropping on us decided interupt with "The menu says tobiko on it." So I replaced mine with the same one my friend ordered (Geisha Roll).They bring me a Geisha Roll with tobiko ALL over it.. The waitress responds with "Everybody makes it different." I think this place is underrated. It dose not look like tye sushi would be good but it is extremely delicious. I only had the sushi so I cannot comment on the other items. The rolls were super fresh. I had been eating the Vietnamese Spring Rolls (3) per serving for several years, when I worked near LSU. I have been gone a couple of years, and thought about the rolls, and ordered 3 boxes, hubby and I ate one each and they didn't have the full shrimps (2) pcs. like they used to, the celery and carrots were good. The peanut sauce seemed different, and did not taste as good as it used to. I had been extremely ill, and had ct scans and lab work done last Monday...after, I thought I will go get the Spring Rolls for my lunch. I ordered, drove all the way over to LSU from Perkins, paid and drove back to the Clinic for more tests. I had noticed that there were no visible shrimp AGAIN...I was starving, and wolfed down two before I noticed there were NO CARROTS OR CELERY, only some mass of white. I first thought it was rice, then realized it was a nasty pasty lump of NOODLES! I nearly threw up, I am on a very strict diet, and carbs are not allowed. I also have Type 2 diabetes, and they drive my blood sugar up. I called, and was told that I have to describe what kind of things I want on the roll. I had asked for the cooked shrimp, and they were not there. I will stay home and make my own, my sauce is decicious. read more

I've only been here for the Vietnamese food and its OK, but relatively bland and boring compared to other places. The pho doesn't have a lot of spices that I really enjoy in one of my favorite dishes. The spring rolls are mostly rice noodles with little vegetables and no cilantro and mint to make it pop. Thought we would try Drunken Fish as a different pho place, but that was a huge mistake. My problems for the restaurant are as follows: 1. Horrible Service-It seemed like there was no manager in charge and everyone including the hostess had no idea what was going on. In the future, the wait staff and chefs should be monitored and kept on task. There was also a girl who continually "chatted" with the sushi chef and was hindering him from doing his job. I really do not understand what she was doing. 2. Pho was WAY too salty. The two other members of my party thought the pho was so salty that they had headaches afterwards. 3. The bathroom toilet overflowed when flushed I really like the idea of a pho restaurant in that location but Drunken FIsh has got to get it together. read more

This is my second time eating here and I love pho and usually really picky about my pho but Drunken Fish does not disappoint. Both times I ate here I got the beef pho which was very tasty and a decent size portion. We had a sushi roll to start the rock n roll. It was a little big for one bit but great taste and quality. Today was my first visit at Druken Fish! We ordered The Druken fish roll, Acadiana roll, Shrimp tempura roll, shrimp spring rolls, gyoza, and shrimp tempura! I was a major fan of the spring rolls! But they pretty much taste the same everywhere I go which is understandable. My favorite roll was the Druken fish roll!! Loved it!! I was not a fan of the Acadiana roll, but my boyfriend liked it! The shrimp tempura was great as well. It tastes the same as other places. The gyoza was pretty good as well! Overall it was a great experience and the food was cooked to perfection! The DFish has a lot of great options and qualities. The environment is great and has beautiful paintings on the wall, great lighting etc. the pricing is reasonable for the food they sell although in the past few years the prices have changed, many of which increased which is sad. I have had several dishes, and I believe the red chili sauce and the hoisin sauce are both house made, which is impressive to me. All of the food is tasty, but in terms of a pho dealer it is adequate, not wonderful, not amazing, but par. it is pho for sure and the raw veggies: bean sprouts, jalapeño slices, mint, cilantro are quite welcome. The Hu tieu is delicious. What rubbed me the wrong way is beware if you want vegetarian or vegan options, I doubt you will be able to eat much more than a salad. Noodle pho is made with animal broth, and veggie hu tieu is by definition with seafood. I have had Magazin's vegan pho (new orleans) and it down right SH*TS all over the most savory pho that DFish can provide. I will reiterate that even using animal products, boiling the blood out of an animal and sea weeds etc, the typical ways to make savory umami in a soup, their pho cant even begin to amount to Magazin's VEGAN PHO. It blows my mind that vegan pho can have more umami than brisket, for example. Sorry, but I choose DFish only when it's my last resort for pho--first world louisiana problems... read more

I'd rather get the Vietnamese food than the sushi here. I think, for what it is, the food is good. It's a good, clean spot to get lunch. And the prices are decent, though not something you want to do every day. As for the food, I'm not a fan of gimmicky rolls but they were good. This is more of a take-out sushi style joint, not some high-end Japanese restaurant. The Vietnamese food I say stick to the rice and vermicelli dishes. If you're a Vietnamese noodle soup ("pho") aficionado, you will be disappointed. read more

After eating here many months back, I wanted to write a review for this place but I never got around to it. The food is actually really good ranging from the sushi that you can order to the hot plates. I absolutely love the Curry Chicken as it gives you a lot of veggies along with it, and when i asked them to add some spicy to the mix, they don't hold back which is awesome as I'm a big fan of spicy foods. I've eaten here more then once and I do continue to come back from time to time as it building is very clean and well kept. The receptionist and waiters are really nice and will give you their honest opinion if you ask for it as it's how i learned about the Curry Chicken. I didn't get the chance to try out the other things on the menu but I'm going to, and i believe you should too. If you aren't too keen on seafood, they have a nice selections of meats to accommodate the meat eaters and vice-versa. (The reason why I can't give it a 5 star rating is because I have yet to try out the other items on the menu as my personal review is based primarily about the food and not just the experience, but it's getting there!) read more

Service was not great - and they weren't busy - four tables when we walked in. Pretty long wait for someone to come take drink order and the first time I've been somewhere that the "cooked" food came WAY before the sushi. However, when the food came, it was worth the wait. The Vietnamese egg rolls were very tasty - but I was looking for them to be served with lettuce for wrapping and the fish sauce-based chili sauce that is customary in Vietnamese restaurants - but I can request that in the future. My friend ordered the Beef Satee and he was very pleased. I ordered the Margarita Roll and yellowtail and escolar sashimi and I was VERY happy. I think the Margarita Roll is the best sushi roll I have EVER had. Very little rice, very fresh fish (we visited on a Thursday and I was concerned). The sashimi was bright and flavorful.
