As a bride and her mother shopping for MOB dresses, this was the worst experience we ever had. We entered the store with an appointment, nobody helped us until about 30 minutes in. Nobody helped my mother pick out dresses, help her get into the dresses, clip her, nothing! The lady was too busy paying attention to this one other person trying on dresses. My mom had questions about the dresses, the lady responded with one words and didn't have any answers. Very unhelpful. If you work for a company where people are spending hundreds of dollars for a dress, they need to be informed about what they are selling and put their customers as priority. We made an appointment which is required because they want to give you personalized attention. Which we got. We walked out with big smiles and a dress. Beyond disappointed. The best part of this store was the young sales associate who helped me. When my dress came in it needed to be taken in which I assumed. I met with the seamstress who seemed to know exactly what I wanted and gave me confidence that the dress would be great. After me second dress fitting and more alterations I brought the dress home almost in tears. The dress still doesn't fit. The top puckers because it's too big. Long story short, I have an $800 dress (with alterations) that I can not wear for my son's wedding. Need to now find a dress within 30 days. Great service from sales...very patient. I came in as a plus size Mother of the Groom (with a miserable attitude) thinking I'd find NOTHING that would either fit or that I would look good in. Diona not only made me feel special but assured me that she "had this". Dress after dress she worked with me. Some too tight (that she made work) and some too loose (god bless her and her clips) and after many laughs and not a single tear, I found my dress! Also, a note to mention...I was there among tiny (TINY!!) prom dress shoppers (who would look awesome in a paper bag) who were so sweet and supportive while this mom tried on dresses and "fought" for the mirror. My daughter had the most amazing experience picking out her Bat Mitzvah dress at Dress Gala. The whole staff were so kind and patient with my daughter and made her feel so special. They owner couldn't have have been nicer to not only my daughter but to my mother, aunt and myself. There were so many dresses to choose from In different colors and sizes. The seamstresses that altered my daughters dress were also amazing. We had a last minute fix and the seamstress had stitched it so we would not have to make a trip back. Best dress shop on Long Island! I must have visited every dress shop in Suffolk County while shopping for a Mother of the Groom dress. I returned to the Dress Gala four times before I made my decision and each time I was greeted with a smile from the sales associates. They did not rush me and gave me as much time and help as they did on my first visit. The owner of the shop is an amazing, incredible, kind, helpful young lady. I had an issue when my dress came in but it was "my" issue, not the fault of the shop. The owner listened to my concerns and although she didn't have to, she made it right for me. Customer service is not a priority at many stores, but it is at Dress Gala. They truly want to make sure you are going to be happy and comfortable with your decision. TERRIBLE SERVICE. I came to dress gala looking for a dress for my cousin's wedding. It was very last minute - I had just finished my first year of grad school and was thinking I might get lucky - otherwise I'd wear something I already have. They made me feel very uncomfortable for waiting until the last minute - passive aggressive about me not knowing that most dresses have to be ordered way in advance - I found myself apologizing to them. I usually wear a 0-2 but now I'm a 2-4. After one dress was a little tight they bought me a 6 - "try on the 6 more your size" I left dress gala feeling like shit. This place seems like the place where they'll pretend to be nice until you leave the store and they'll start talking poorly about whomever. They asked me what I didn't like about one dress and I said I was looking for something more simple. They then told me to try a bright pink dress with glitter along the side. 16 YEAR OLD PROM DRESSES. That's all this store has. It's not a place to go if you are looking for a simple and/or sophisticated dress. It's all glitz and glitter. What separates an ok store from a great one is its ability to be sensitive and responsive regarding its customers and what they're looking for - working together to find what image you have of the perfect dress. You won't find that here Unless something changes - this will stay that store 16 year olds go to look for their prom dress after nothing is found at store 1, 2, or 3. Who just completed law school you should be more aware that you need a wedding dress and be prepared. I don't see how your apology to them would fix the actual time crisis at hand. It seems to me that your just taking your frustrations out on this place simply because you didn't get it your way. They are experts when it comes to clothes so if they recommend a size 6 means you most likely gained more weight than you had anticipated for which I just suggest a simple jog daily and you'll be back to your regular self all though I'm sure your still very beautiful at size 6 I went there a week before prom for my 16 year old daughter and they made the impossible happen which I am beyond thankful for . It wasn't all peachy but the girls there did their best and my daughter looked beyond beautiful for her first prom. I went there to buy a prom dress for my daughter and not one person helped us we stood there for 10 minutes holding dresses when we finally got help they put us in a room and the girl walked away without helping my daughter. My daughter liked the dress and decided she wanted to get it. After buying it and going back for the dress fitting I asked the seemstress if she could leave me a swatch and she said yes, but when I went recently to pick it up there was none. After I asked the people working they said the seamstress had thrown away all the fabric leaving me with nothing. This is, hands down, THE best dress store on Long Island. My sister needed a dress, and of course she waited until the last minute. The girls working at Dress Gala really know their stuff. They were able to elicit what kind of dress my sister wanted, and then were able to show her some styles that matched her description. They were able to accurately size her in a dress that would make her look fantastic, and was right for her height/body type. A few of my girl friends and my mom (and their moms) have also shopped here, and had very positive experiences. If you are unable to find a dress, the staff will continue to assist you, going out of their way to make sure they can find/order what you're looking for, and that you leave happy.
