My sister and I booked appointments the night before the scheduled date. They were able to accomodate us on short notice, so we felt really lucky! Laura worked on both our pedicures (our appointments were one after another, if we booked more in advance they would have been able to schedule us at the same time). She was incredibly caring and checked in to ask if the temperature of the water was ok, if ever I felt uncomfortable to let her know, if the color was OK after she put a drop on the first toe. I could really tell that they are very attentive to their customers and care about helping them feel as comfortable as possible! I'm so happy with how pretty my toes looked at the end of the service (light cotton-candy pink). It was such a relaxing and pleasant experience! It was the perfect way to check something off my list of things to enjoy during my vacation.

I took a seat in one of their massage chairs and was offered a drink as the pedi service began. I enjoyed the experience and left thoroughly relaxed. They did a good job with my nails though some areas could use improvement (better shaping for instance). Although yoga helped making me feel better, I decided to go for a massage. I was trying my luck that day to get accommodated without reservation. I walked in, was greeted by the lovely receptionist and asked how she can help me. I told her I wanted a massage. She checked her computer and luckily I only have to wait 1 hour. This Eccotique branch is conveniently located inside Metrotown mall. I could definitely spend 1 hour window shopping. Five minutes prior to my appointment I was already back at Eccotique. I was lead inside and was asked to sit on a couch and wait for my masseuse. I was offered water or tea while I wait. After five minutes, my masseuse came and introduce herself. My masseuse' name is Paige. She then lead me to a private room. The room is of adequate size. Enough for a massage bed and for the masseuse to move around. I was asked to sit on the bed and was told to close my eyes. Paige then pressed her oil damped thumb on my forehead as she asked me to inhale deeply. She did this 3 times each with different aroma oil. I ended up choosing the Rosemary Mint oil. Paige then stepped out of the room and asked me to undress and go under the sheets face down. While waiting, I noticed the relaxing music playing in the background. I hear the sounds of the ocean and then birds. It was really pleasant to the ears. Before starting the massage, Paige asked if I have any injury or if I have parts of my body that I don't want pressure on. I am typically healthy so went for a full body massage. It was heavenly. I like that Paige would always check if the pressure is acceptable. I'm not a masochist. I don't like hurting myself more so paying the person who hurts me! I like my massage to be just right. I can say I went out of that spa a changed person. I felt so relax and loose. It felt like I can do another round of 90 minute hot yoga. This spa is highly recommended.

I didn't know what to expect (again, my FIRST manicure) so I wanted to check a couple of things. Right away the woman said, "I already told you." I said, "Well, the woman I spoke to on the phone..." she cut me off, "Woman! No "Woman", I speak to you!" She seemed irritated already and I had barely set foot inside! I tried another approach, "May I see your prices?" "Right there." she pointed to a post on the wall, then "I told you on [the] phone." "Which nails are stronger?" "They ALL strong. They ALL good, ok!" She tapped me on the hand to make me listen. That was enough for me - too aggressive, WAY too impatient and rude! NO manners for answering a simple question from a new, and somewhat nervous client (me). Terrible way to start! No way was I going to feel "taken care of" by someone with such a terrible attitude. My appointment was scheduled for 1:15 PM for a 60-minute service, but I was not brought into the room until around 1:25 PM. By 2:27 PM, I was already back in my car, so it did not feel like I received the full service I paid for. I was also unhappy with how my hair was left afterward. It was still half dry and not presentable to walk out with, so I ended up leaving with my hair tied in a bun instead of properly finished. Unfortunately, this experience also ruined part of my Mother's Day celebration, which made it even more upsetting. Sadly, I will not be returning. Update: After I originally posted feedback about my experience, the business first offered a partial refund, then agreed to a full refund. However, they later stated the refund would only be processed if I removed my Google review. As of now, no refund has been issued. I no longer feel comfortable with how the situation was handled. Wrong! As I came up to pay, the machine read $89! I kindly asked the lady as to why is it that much. As online it said only $52. She then told me that the $52 is for "classical mani and classical pedi" and they gave me shellac! That I did not ask for. (To clarify I do not go to nail salons often, and don't have a clear picture of which procedures do what and what they look like). Now I will know.. I then told the lady that this is frustrating as the classical mani and pedi is what I asked for in the beginning and she apologized. I've had pedicures and manicures here and the variety of polishes and finishes is wonderful. I've had nails done for weddings, graduations, vacations and other special events and countless pedicures in the summer. It isn't super posh, and there is a tendency to be dusty because they do a lot of fake nails, but they try to keep it clean and the prices are reasonable. I miss Pretty Nails ever since I've moved out of the area but I make a point of returning to catch up with the girlfriends over a pedi.
