I had Annie do my hard gel nails and it's always relaxing. She's always so kind and attentive and does a wonderful job. The girl who did my pedicure was an absolute sweet heart. I apologize as I forgot her name but she always wears a hat and has some tattoos. She did an excellent job on my pedicure and laughed with me as I suffered through the foot filing part. Love this place. read more

One of the friendliest nail salon in the area. My regular salon was closed today, so I decided to try Minoko. I called 15mins before and they told me they can accommodate me. Sunny was the lady who helped me with my pedicure. She was friendly, but didn't chit chat that much, which I like. I like to catch up on emails while I'm getting my toes done. The price is higher than typical hole in the wall nail salons, but Minoko was a lot cleaner and actually put work into their décor. Parking is in the back and is limited. read more

Omg I miss this place!!! I shouldn't betray them lolz! Finally find them again inside Crystal Mall, since I thought they close down the Burnaby location forever. My girl today is Mia and she's amazing. I planned my days stupidly but she able to accommodate a gel fill with cute designs in 1.5h like wtf? The other girl I went to took 3h and charged me double ( she's amazing,I love her but my wallet doesn't) If you need the price quote feel free to let them know, they'll more than happy to tell you. One thing though, their price on the website is not updated . Again I was in a rush so instead of a pedicure,I just want shellac application on my toe and that's all. Still pretty! I will definitely come back! read more

A really thorough pedicure, unassuming location but the techs have a good eye for details. would recommend

When I arrived they quoted me 20 dollars over the price on the website for a nail fill. The woman quoted me 88 dollars for a FILL. She then went to get her boss who said 78 which is still 10 over the price on their website. Then they told me it would be an extra 10 dollar per nail if any of my nail extensions had to be replaced. I felt immediately when I came in that they wanted me to leave. I dress (very slightly) alternatively so maybe that's the reason? No idea but I drove out for an hour to get my nails done here as the pictures on Instagram looked lovely. It really sucks to be treated like I don't belong there for whatever reason. There was clearly some reason they didn't want me in there. I felt like freaking Julia Roberts in pretty woman when the store clerk shoes her out. read more

A little pricier than the usual places, however I was adding on lots of extra stuff. Tucked in a corner of crystal mall. I don't know if they just finished renovating it but it just feel a wee bit industrial. In the sample of nail designs they had they didn't have any 3D designs. When I spoke to my usual nail tech she said it's probably a dying trend. read more

Minoko Nail Studio - Nail Salons Near Me - Burnaby, British Columbia

I booked my first nail appointment with Minoko over the phone and explained that I needed to remove my soft gel nails (not originally done there ) and to get a regular manicure instead. I was booked in for Saturday morning at 11am-first thing! Which is nice so I don't need to worry about appointments running late on me. My nail tech who I later found out was going to be Vicky, was running late but there was another staff member around to get the removal process started. I was given some colour wheels to choose from and when Vicky arrived I showed her which one I had picked. I should probably mention now that when I booked I spoke english, but when Vicky arrived she spoke mandarin with me and being that I understand a little mandarin, tried to converse with her as best I could. I told her that I wanted regular manicure, the most basic option, one colour, no designs. She agreed and said that the colour I picked, was going to be $5 more because it was better quality than the other wheels. I was fine with that and said ok. I think this is where the confusion started as she started giving me gel nails and I didn't really realize as it was my 2nd time ever getting my nails done. However halfway through the owner noticed and asked me if I was wanting gel, or regular, as I had originally asked. I told her I had wanted regular but as it had already changed into gel I guess I had to keep going. This was when their great customer service shone -they said they were not going to charge me for the gel nails because it was their mistake! I totally wasn't expecting that at all, I had been preparing to pay for the gel nails set or at least half of it. I thought this was quite honest of them and I didn't even have to say anything at all. Just for this alone I would give Minoko Nails 4 stars. All in all, I would recommend Minoko Nails because they took initiative to fix the mistake and did a good job on my nails! Also they do try to accommodate walk-ins as best they can between appointments as well. There was a girl getting french tips done who had walked-in, and the nails techs were trying to figure out how to finish her tips as another customer (with an appointment) had arrived. They managed to do some swapping and it was all sorted out in the end. read more

I went to get a my nails done here, I booked online. I needed a hard gel fill with nail art. My usual technician was going to be unavailable I thought I would try this place as there photos looked decent on Instgram. I see my usual tech every three weeks for hard gel, nail art and I'm very familiar with getting my nails done. On getting started the tech, who was unfamiliar with the product used on my nails, said pink hard gel doesn't exist and told me I had acrilic nails on‍. I should have left then. I didn't... Upon letting her work on my perfectly shaped nails, she whittled them down to uneven pointed tip. When I told her to fix it, she blamed it on my prior nail tech, omg. Being this far in I had to finish what I had regretfully starting. Clear hard gel now on, she pulled out her dirty file once again (cringe) and filed me down more, to to an uneven mess. I picked a pretty color, I was happy with the paint job, and after $125 I was on my way to my car to try to fix the mess and praying not get a Staph infection. Do not go here, not worth the price, lack of knowledge, rudeness, and they made of my nails. Disaster!!! read more

This was my second visit to this salon. The first was many years ago, when I got nail extensions and French-style gel nails. I remember they did a great job, and the nails lasted a long time, only it was a little pricier than what I was used to. I came here again a couple weeks ago to get shellac. They did a great job on my nails and I've gotten so many compliments! I don't like having complex nail designs, and I opted for plain white. With cuticle cleaning and the full manicure, it came out to be $55. They were very careful, and had an efficient system for painting the nails and drying them under UV ray. The service was great, and I didn't have to make a reservation. Again, my nails look fantastic, however this is a higher price point than what I'm used to. Usually I get my nails done in Hamilton for $30. I'm glad I found this place, for when I need to get my nails done in the future in Vancouver, however it's quite pricey and will probably be for special occasions. read more

For price alone, I will not be returning to minoko... Hate to say it but they are overpriced and every little thing extra they charge for. For example, the plastic flip flops for pedicures, some nail polish's cost more than others, each additional jewel, etc... I didn't like that! I am on a budget and my toes and nails came out to just under $100! And for my toes I just got regular polish.... My fingernails I got shellac nails. My girlfriend and I arrived at the salon at 3 for our appointment. We had booked ahead so we could sit together. They refused to sit us together, one getting a pedicure and the other a manicure separately. This bothered us right away... And they said it was because they only had 2 pedicure chairs. But the pedi chair next to me remained open while I had my pedi, until I had my manicure done..... I also didn't find the salon very clean... There were tons of leftover cups everywhere and my chair was dirty when I went to sit down.. Also, the manicure you pay $50 or more for, WARNING: you don't get a massage with it... I have never has this before! Typically I have had massages with manicures.. Even in the cheapest salons! The kicker: this all took OVER 4 hours! It was the slowest mani/pedi I have ever received and the most expensive! We had to tell them to hurry by the end because we both had evening plans. My girlfriend's pedi wasn't hardened when we left so she had to be extremely careful. And pay for the cheap flip flops.... Overall experience: I will not be back. Sorry minoko! read more

The owner, Vivienne, contacted me and offered to refund the extra money I paid as well as offered to redo and fix the uv gel set. Very prompt reply to the review and conducts their business in a professional manner. I would also like to point out the fact that I am not writing this review based on my money refunded; I am writing this review purely based on the actions that this business has demonstrated. read more

I've been going to Minoko Nail Studio for more than 2 years~ I get Vivian or Annie to do my gel Nail. Although it cost a little more than other nail salons, you get the best quality, skills of technicians, and the cleanliness of the products and store here. Their gel nail stays shiny until my next visit too! They are also super friendly~ I've tried many other Nail salons in the past since I had gel nails for 9 - 10 years but I'm settled at this place. No other place is knowledgeable and up to date with Japanese Nail art like this store. Also they guarantee 2week from breakage or splitting~ As a tip it's best to make appointments a few days earlier since they are really busy! I totally recommend this place and already have many friends, coworkers, also my sister being a regular here^^ read more

This review is long overdue. I usually go to Minoko for gel nails, but after awhile I decided to give my nails a rest. I finally decided to get my nails done again; however, I was curious about other nail salons so I decided to go somewhere else this time....big mistake! While Minoko is a bit pricey compared to the other salons I've been to, I find this place to be worth it. The salon is clean, nicely decorated, and doesn't smell of chemicals at all! Upon arrival, I'm offered a drink and they request I wash my hands first. I love this since, to me, it shows that cleanliness is important to them. The girls that work here are so gentle, meticulous, and sweet. It usually takes about three hours for me to get a fill plus colour and/or design change but I don't mind since it's super comfortable and relaxing there, plus my nails are always perfect when I leave. What's even more awesome is that my gel nails never lift or chip. Being a regular at Minoko has really raised my standards and other salons don't even compare in my opinion. I cannot wait to go back. I will never cheat on Minoko again! read more

So far the worst manicure I've ever had. I don't think you can attach pictures here, but I took a few, right after I came out of the place. Update - I did attach a few. My cuticle looked 10 times worse than before the manicure - dry bits were sticking out. They used some rough and cheap file - and though I asked to buff the edge (and she did) - the edges were still so rough that ruined my stockings. The base, the nail polish and the top coat were dry and old. So the whole thing ended up in layers - you can see the traces from the brush from the base (which covered only half of each nail, huh?). The application wasn't good either - on some nails polish was on my cuticle. Summary: I have no idea what I paid $23 for...The whole thing was just so wrong. I know some owners offer another visit, so they can fix up whatever was wrong, or a refund. No, thank you, in advance. Yes, it was that bad. read more

I had a pedicure done here with some friends. My friends had some good reviews so decided okay let's give it a try. Far most is the place is clean, friendly and assisting. Love that they offer you a drink as many salons don't provide that. My service was okay, she accidentally cut my toe nail cuticle and made me bleed but overall I was last to get my service but first to be finished. I initially wanted a foot massage so given the thought even though I didn't want polish provided I would of enjoyed a bit more of a massage but I felt my massage was just a lotion application, no massage given with the service. All in all my service felt like it was done in 15 mins to 20 mins. Not sure if I'll be back to give this place a second chance. read more

My friend and I purchased coupons for a gel polish manicure and paraffin wax treatment. The space: very clean, nicely laid out, had three manicure tables and two pedicure chairs. The staff: very friendly, we were offered beverages when we came in and they had the little single serving coffee cups which were awesome. It's nice having a fresh coffee while you're getting a service done. The service: excellent service! My manicurist was great, she was thorough but gentle and gave me good advice on my color choices. The price: with the coupon and the referral system, it's a good price. Regular price is a bit high, but I think it's actually a standard price for gel polish -- I've only had gel nails done with a discount so regular price always seems steep to me. One thing I noticed right away was that the manicurists all had nice nails! In almost all the other shops I've been to, the manicurists always seem to have short, worn looking nails and fingers. I'm sure it's from the type of work they do, and I've never judged anyone for it, but it was nice to see the manicurists with nice, cool looking nails for once. It made me think of how you automatically trust a hairstylist a little bit more if they have nice hair. I would definitely recommend this studio to anyone. read more

Minoko Nail Studio - These nails are a little more than 2 weeks old!! - Nail Salons Near Me - Burnaby, British Columbia

This was my first visit to Minoko, I was looking for a nail salon where I would be able to get beautiful bridal manicure and pedicure, with pretty nail design. I did my research online and chose Minoko and I was very happy i did! Mia did incredible job with my bridal manicure! She even stayed till 9pm (!) to finish the job and was not rushing at all but was full of ideas to make it even prettier! When I booked an appointment I asked for "gel nails" and I believe they booked me for "shellac manicure" instead, I guess I was not very clear that I needed a new set of gel nails so I had to wait for Mia to finish with her other Customer so she could do my nails, she was the only one who was able to stay after hours that day. Mia, thank you so much for doing that, my nails looked amazing for my wedding! I really appreciate all your time and especially for staying so late to get my nails done! read more

I have been to Minoko twice now, and I may return. Service and quality are good - however, this second time I found it a little pricey (over a hundred dollars including tip, for gel set w/ extensions, and little stick on decals, + both my ring fingers are done up in glitter - which I also didn't really want, but it kind of happened anyway). I don't know why it was so much more expensive this time, because last time I also got a regular pedicure on top of the gel nails (with sparkle on all ten fingers) and paid only ~$10 more. It's a mystery. My other criticism is that the techs do what they want rather than what you ask for. I may need to be more assertive if I return. I left with something I wasn't thrilled with because #1 I didn't get what I asked for and #2 I didn't understand I wasn't getting what I asked for until it was already happening. There is a little bit of a language barrier. I stopped the tech just short of gluing gemstones on my nails - I had said explicitly at the outset that I didn't want that because I type a lot and generally use my hands for many different things, including child care. Also, my nails are longer than I wanted, but I was rather flat-out refused when I suggested taking them shorter. I'll be filing them down, poste-haste because even just typing this now is a chore. Also, I was there for almost 2.5 hours. Which might be typical for gels. By the end though, i was getting antsy. I might return... right now, my feelings are maxing out at luke warm. I will probably, now that my nail biting habit is mostly cured, opt out of the gels and back into a regular manicure. read more

My appt was at 3 pm, didn't start working on my nails until 3:30 pm. Not experienced enough with 3D nails. My nail appt took 3 hrs, it was only a simple design and it cost $30 more than the place I normally go to. No magazines to look at so definitely going back to my usual nail salon. read more

I think that Minoko is pretty overpriced. I have only been here two times and my first visit was quite pleasant but my second visit wasn't very pleasant at all. The girl that was helping me cut a bit of my skin off my finger when she was doing manicure on me. She didn't even apologize. I felt that she wasn't very professional when she was helping me. She held the cutting tools in a very odd way... I'm assuming it's because of her super long fake nails. I only found out that I had a cut on my finger when she put liquids on my fingers and it stung. Don't think I will go there again. So disappointed. read more

Honestly, I don't think I will be back because of the price because it was SUPER expensive when I went. So the scenario went like this: My friend and I decided to get our nails done last minute before heading to the club. I think we called like at 11 and wanted an appointment around 6. They were able to accommodate us so we thought "why not?". On the phone though, I got asked about what we wanted to do and I gave the details as asked. When the description was done, the receptionist said that they wouldn't be able to do any designs since that would mean staying too late. That was fine with us since we didn't really want anything so after asking the price, we waited for our appointment. We showed up about 10 minutes early for our appointment and just waited. My friend ended up starting before me and I had to wait an extra 20 minutes (6:20) because my technician was late. It happens so I didn't think much about it but she didn't give any reason for being late or even apologize for being late. After that, once she started on my nails, she asked me about where my nails were done and I told her not there. Then she said that their store charges extra to take off the gel polish if it's not from their store. I thought that was ridiculous but just went along with it. During the whole appointment, the two technicians who were working on our nails chatted every so often. I normally would be fine with that but the thing is they were talking to each other in their native language so I don't know if they were talking about us or something. Overall it wasn't very pleasant. I got charged for adding 2 little rhinestones on my nails and so did my friend. We didn't even do anything complex in design. They even charged for doing 1 silver nail on each hand. Super expensive. In total, we paid 180 including tip. First and last time I'm going there. If you have the money then why not but not reasonable. read more

Annie did my nails, and I'm so happy with them!! Such friendly service. They are a little more expensive than some salons, but the quality is well worth it. She took such care and detail in shaping my nails and applying the gel Polish, it's so incredibly smooth. Would highly recommend! read more

Worse pedicure ever!!! I drove by and wanted to try a new place out. The name of the store made the shop sound like it was Japanese owned, but everyone there spoke mandarin. I walked in with a Tiffany green/blue color in mind, but to my disappointment they only had a palette full of pinks, reds, and dull dark colors. The color palette looked like it had been sitting in an oven as the colors were chipped, bubbley and unevenly painted on. They did not clean underneath my toe nails, no cuticle softener, no foam toe separator for the polish stage, no foot dryer (used industrial fan to dry my toes) and to top it all off, they didn't even have the color I ended up picking! The lady told me they ran out of that particular pink color and brought me a red instead. Also, they charge more than the average rate of pedicures. Pure nail bar charges 35$. While they charge 36$ without tax. So so disappointed. I don't even understand how this place has good ratings. I up keep my nails every month, but this place really annoyed me. I have been to Miniko Nail Studio a few times for Gel nails and have mixed reviews. I think this is probably due to the different technicians but I haven't had any of the technicians introduce themselves, or see them wearing name tags to identify who I would request if I return. I get my gel nails done every 3 weeks and have found that prices here are more expensive than any other nail salon in Burnaby. I don't mind paying extra if I have a specific design or nail art idea in mind but not for a basic colour refill. Best Experience: I wanted some technical nail art designs done for a music festival I was attending and my nails turned out absolutely perfect! It took about 3 hours for them to complete my nails, but in the end they looked gorgeous and I didn't mind paying over $100 for the quality of the work. Worst Experience: Wanted a french manicure for a wedding and last minute before the colour was to be applied was told that is wasn't possible. The technician did not speak english very well and didn't give me a clear reason as to why she couldn't complete a french tip.. I was a little annoyed and didn't understand but decided to go for a solid colour instead. It turned out alright but she cut my nails much shorter than I requested and I ended up walking away very unsatisfied and felt as though I couldn't communicate my disappointment to her. read more

This is the best nail salon I've ever been to. I used to come here to see Annie often when I lived in Burnaby. So my friend waited for me when I'm finish SO she could do her's, But as soon as my friend just got done the first part of the manicure there were another customer came in which was the next in line. MY FRIEND'S NAIL WAS WAY FAR FROM FINISHING AND THE WOMAN ASK US TO LEAVE BECAUSE THEY NEED TO DO THEir NEXT APPOINTMENT!!! How ridiculous could this be?? Can somebody leave your hair half cut and ask you to come back next time? Can you leave your half way finish dinner and come back next time because we need to serve our next customer? There were no apology given, and we were blameD because my nail took a long time for them to do , so they didn't have time to do my friend's nail. SO WHY DON'T YOU GUYS PLAN AHEAD OF TIME SO EVERYBODY COULD GET THE SERVICE THEY DESERVE??? +4 Stars: I am very happy with how my nails turned out. I coloured gel nails with extensions put on. Did not opt for the artwork or glitter options so I can't comment on those. The lady who did my nails was very kind and seemed to be a qualified nail tech. -1 Star: It cost more than what I was expecting. As a first time customer I wasn't aware of the different prices except for what the website said (for what I thought I asked for). Communication was not given to say what was more expensive than what, (clear vs. colour gel). My suggestion is for customers to ask before the services commence. +1 Star: When I got in contact with the owner the cost issue was explained, addressed, fixed extremely quickly! I am very impressed and I feel confident that the company wouldn't hesitate to address other issues their customers may have. read more
