My sister and I booked appointments the night before the scheduled date. They were able to accomodate us on short notice, so we felt really lucky! Laura worked on both our pedicures (our appointments were one after another, if we booked more in advance they would have been able to schedule us at the same time). She was incredibly caring and checked in to ask if the temperature of the water was ok, if ever I felt uncomfortable to let her know, if the color was OK after she put a drop on the first toe. I could really tell that they are very attentive to their customers and care about helping them feel as comfortable as possible! I'm so happy with how pretty my toes looked at the end of the service (light cotton-candy pink). It was such a relaxing and pleasant experience! It was the perfect way to check something off my list of things to enjoy during my vacation.

One of the girls was giving me a pedicure and Anna (the owner) was giving me a manicure at the same time. The girl was scraping the dead skin off my foot and wasn't paying attention and scraped the side of my foot. Realizing what she'd done, she immediately dropped my foot in the water to hide the cut, which stung so fcking bad. I pulled my foot out of the water and blood was gushing out. Anna said something to her in Vietnamese and the girl ran to grab ointment and bandages. I'm not impressed that she didn't acknowledge her mistake right away, but I didn't make a fuss. The girl was so embarrassed, she didn't look at me for the rest of the time so Anna ended up taking my payment. It's surprising that she charged me full price and I'm an idiot for tipping on top of that. This was 2 months ago and I wasn't going to bother writing about this, but that cut is now a scar, which I'm not happy about. They will text you the check in procedure -- call to let them know you have arrived and remain in your car till the nail technician is ready for you. What about those who do not drive? And I saw other customers who came in later who definitely did not call ahead to announce their arrival. Street parking is available though it can be tricky to get a spot during popular hours. Capacity has been halved as only alternate station is used and they are fitted with plexiglass. They should not be using the first station near the door as it was next to the nail polish display case. I could tell the customer in that chair was uncomfortable when I had to go to the case to pick out the color. And I was told to go pick out what I wanted. Definitely no social distancing for that. They did a double booking when I was there and the other client had to come back at a later time. This was quite the fastest pedicure I ever had. It was done in 20-30 minutes. As it was winter and cold out there and I did not manage to get "Rock star" parking aka right in front of the shop, I did not want to wear my flip flops out. So I waited for another 15 minutes for the nails to dry. Another thing to note was how the purpose of mask wearing was defeated when the nail tech pulled down her mask to blow on my toes to dry them faster. I was stunned but just prayed for the best. I also did not like the fact there was a $1 service charge added to the bill when it was not stated anywhere in the price list etc. Be upfront about all charges so customers can make informed decisions. Maybe it was due to covid, but there was no toe separator being used while painting the nails. Other places would use tissue paper wound around the toes instead of the usual sponge separators. While the pedicure itself is ok, I am not sure if I will return again. I have been avoiding nail salons due to covid and this was my first pedicure in about a year and the blowing on my toes really shook me.

Although yoga helped making me feel better, I decided to go for a massage. I was trying my luck that day to get accommodated without reservation. I walked in, was greeted by the lovely receptionist and asked how she can help me. I told her I wanted a massage. She checked her computer and luckily I only have to wait 1 hour. This Eccotique branch is conveniently located inside Metrotown mall. I could definitely spend 1 hour window shopping. Five minutes prior to my appointment I was already back at Eccotique. I was lead inside and was asked to sit on a couch and wait for my masseuse. I was offered water or tea while I wait. After five minutes, my masseuse came and introduce herself. My masseuse' name is Paige. She then lead me to a private room. The room is of adequate size. Enough for a massage bed and for the masseuse to move around. I was asked to sit on the bed and was told to close my eyes. Paige then pressed her oil damped thumb on my forehead as she asked me to inhale deeply. She did this 3 times each with different aroma oil. I ended up choosing the Rosemary Mint oil. Paige then stepped out of the room and asked me to undress and go under the sheets face down. While waiting, I noticed the relaxing music playing in the background. I hear the sounds of the ocean and then birds. It was really pleasant to the ears. Before starting the massage, Paige asked if I have any injury or if I have parts of my body that I don't want pressure on. I am typically healthy so went for a full body massage. It was heavenly. I like that Paige would always check if the pressure is acceptable. I'm not a masochist. I don't like hurting myself more so paying the person who hurts me! I like my massage to be just right. I can say I went out of that spa a changed person. I felt so relax and loose. It felt like I can do another round of 90 minute hot yoga. This spa is highly recommended.

I became even more stressed about it knowing that I was going to be on stage for the world to see. But I was so fortunate to have Tessa's expertise and nurturing touch to help settle my nerves. She provided me with a body exfoliation followed by a body bronze (spray tan). It was MAGIC! My skin felt and looked amazing. My body was smooth and had a wonderful healthy glow - it honestly looked very natural (not "the orange" that people typically associate with spray tans). With proper care, it lasted me for weeks and I received so many wonderful compliments on my tan. I'm happy to know of a healthier alternative to tanning salons. Tessa, the owner, makes you feel at ease right from the very beginning when you call to inquire/book with them. By the end you feel like family (the good kind).
