This place was so so so so so so so so amazing!! My review is several months late but I came here in April with my best friend when we visited MN. The food is so filling. I got the world's best pasta dish & was so in love that I got a second plate for later that evening. They have a great selection of beverages. My best friend who is not a vegan at all loved this place too, so definitely bring anyone and everyone! We sat right by the window which was so cute because it rained & we got to observe the quaint street. Dani was our server & she was really funny & sweet. Henrick was behind the counter & I remember talking to him about the most niche subjects, haha. He was there when I ordered my second helping. Before I left, I saved both of their names in a draft & am fiiiinally writing this. This is just a place that is very emblematic of Minneapolis at heart. It's somewhere you dine whether you live in the city, the suburbs, or are in town for a few days (like we were), and it perfectly engulfs the atmosphere of the city at large. Wholesome, hearty food. Beers & cool, delicious drinks. Very friendly employees that you can talk about anything with & get recommendations, etc. I would absolutely come back. It's not often we get to check out a true vegan restaurant but having a world-renowned electronic music vocalist in town that loves to visit New cities with the fare & try something new it's something we have to jump on, nonetheless having the name of our avorite trance music festival. I ordered the margarita with jalapeno vodka, my wife had the raspberry beret, and a to close things out I had a Modest brew for a libation. Digging into the main course we ordered the nachos to share, and each of us had a different meal choice ranging from the fettuccine to the pub Burger, the chicken sandwich as well as the ramen noodles. The item of note is that they don't have any wait staff to that comes to your table except to deliver food, and you have to wait for them to bring your selections to you. The staff is very friendly and very knowledgeable about the intricacies of the menu items and was always eager to answer any questions about the specials, etc. To top it off they have a really nice patio with some lovely rabbit wildlife running amok. I came to dreamstate as a non-vegan with a vegan friend and oh boy it was incredible!!! Food was exceptional check the photos, great staff, great price. I had been dying to come try since they moved into the old Hi Flora space and it did not disappoint! I've been vegan for 11 years and loved the variety of menu items, there really is something for everyone. We came by for happy hour and found the prices and portions to be fair. We also tried the double chocolate chip cookie which was delicious! It's order at the counter and then they are delivered to your table. My only complaint was the music was heavy metal screaming and really loud too, it just did not feel peaceful and I left with a bit of a headache after as well. I think I'd be more inclined to order to go next time or sit on the patio if that's possible. read more

Got there at 4pm, and had no idea that they only had their happy hour menu, but I got their chicken sandwich which was around $3 off. I am not vegan or vegetarian, but this sandwich was tasty! I loved the coleslaw and had a tang flavor, but I wish there was tomato on it. The fries were great! One thing to improve is for the restaurant to have a seat yourself sign. We were waiting for a host, just to have to ask after 5 minutes. We had no idea we had to order at the counter. We had a fun brunch at Dreamstate. Ambiance was adorable with large sun-filled windows, artsy murals and wildflowers at each table. Service was okay once we figured out that we had to order at the register and the waitstaff was not going to come and get our orders. On street parking was easy and plentiful. I don't normally eat at Vegan restaurants as I'm a big fan of meats and dairy, but still had a great time with delicious coffee. Ambiance 4/5 Service 3/5 Food 2/5 Coffee 4/5 Value 2/5 Blueberry Pancake Latte 4/5, nice change from my normal latte. The pink cold foam was sweet and tart. Blueberry Pancake looked nice. 3 off our table of 6 got this dish. They said it was good, but I'm not sure it was worth the $14 price tag. Curtido Benedict looked good, but my friend did not like this dish and was the only one who didn't join the clean plate club. Breakfast Sandwich looked okay. The vegan sausage was good, but my friend said the sauce was less delicious. read more

Dreamstate is so good I don't care that's it's vegan. They have a very reasonably priced and delicious brunch on the weekends and their breakfast burrito is one of my favorites in town-- and I'm NOT vegan. I love eggs, I love dairy, meat, etc. But I'm telling you, Dreamstate just does it right. Their food is utterly craveable. And the vibe is cute, too. TLDR; As an egg, meat & dairy eater, I DO recommend this cheery vegan place - my hangover brunch order hit all the right notes for me. Came thru to Mpls from Brooklyn to visit some friends, and wanted to try this place out. I had gotten a bit swept away with free (but mid) wine the night before (vacation heyyyy), so definitely needed something with good carbs, fat, salt, and flavor to indulge in. I ordered the breakfast sandwich - an English muffin with vegan cheese, egg, and sausage. For a side I got the yucca fries (I love me some yucca). And a plain ol cold brew with oat milk to drink. They have fancier options, but I like my coffee simple. The fries are coated in a cilantro sauce and also come with a dipping sauce, was very happy with both fries and dip. The breakfast sandwich was basically an upscale fast food / bodega breakfast sammie. I do eat pork, eggs, and cheese (picky about the source where I can be); but I usually do not eat fast food. This meal is a nice alternative to get that kind of craving fulfilled. Staff were mellow and relaxed, which I like to see - usually means the boss ain't an *******. The art on the walls was cheery but not annoying. Would definitely revisit to try other menu options next time I'm in town. read more

I visited Dreamstate for lunch and had a great experience. It's a beautiful space, with super friendly employees and great vegan food. To drink, I got the non-alcoholic All-Day Spritz, which was a refreshing cucumber-lemon drink. I'm originally from Texas, so I wasn't sure what to expect with the nachos, but they were delicious--full of chunky guacamole, flavorful mock duck, and a really nice cashew-based white sauce. The best part was the tortilla chips, which are serious the best that I've had in the Twin Cities (and would be well-regarded by any Texan). I only wish the dish had been a little less garlicky. The fried chicken was outstanding--the patty was very flavorful. I do wish it came with more of the slaw. I wish they had a spicy version! The maitake tacos were also good, though a bit more garlicky than I prefer. I liked the salad side that I got with it. We were even more impressed when we got our (very reasonable) bill and realized that this is a no tipping restaurant. We will definitely be back to try brunch. read more

Dreamstate was a dream! The decor is trippy but beautiful, the flavors are bomb, the service is polite, the parking was easy. We (four people) got the Lions Mane Mushroom Steak, Sweet Potato Sopes, Scallop Linguine, Maitake Tacos, and Chocolate Raspberry Cupcake. The sweet potato sopes were the tastiest -- a light puff of sweet potato topped with spiced pepitas and onion(?) and a rich creamy sauce -- and while everything was great, I especially recommend the Scallop Linguine -- the tomatoes and mushroom scallops were perfectly cooked, and it was hearty and filling. It's also nice to grab a window seat and people watch out on Lyndale Ave. We'll be back! read more

Dreamstate comes from the folks who gave us Reverie, and like their sister restaurant, it's just as inventive and delicious. The Delicata Squash Donuts are deep fried tempura Delicata and one of my favorite things we got. Also loved the Lion's Mane Steak. If you're a mushroom fan, get the King Oyster Mushroom app. The broth and mushroom are an explosion of flavor in your mouth. Can't wait to come back for breakfast and lunch! read more

I mostly do 5 star reviews so a 2 star from me means I'm extremely disappointed - and I really don't enjoy leaving a bad review. We went there to grab takeout for lunch. We ordered the Maitake Tacos and the Seaweed Caesar Salad - both $16 each. There was no seaweed in the salad - just a bunch of lettuce and dressing (maybe the dressing had invisible nori sprinkles?) It should have been $8. The tacos were two soft corn tortillas filled with a couple of spoonfuls of a maitake mixture. Nothing else in the tacos and two thirds of the box contained literally cold limp french fries that had obviously been sitting in the kitchen for quite a while. Seriously disappointing and the chef should be ashamed of dishing up something so bad. Maybe they were having a bad day but we're not going back. The reason for two stars and not one is that the restaurant ambience was very nice and my server was great. read more

I came during their first full week I believe. I tried the burger of the moment, which was a vegan brat burger on a pretzel bun with sauerkraut and mustard. I got an order of fries as well. It was pretty busy so took a little time but it was worth the wait. Everything was so good! I'm bummed it's a "burger of the moment" and will probably not be on the menu later, but I'll be sure to try other burgers. read more

The service and environment here are great. I appreciate the variety of food options. On my first visit, I had the nachos, which were delicious, a drink special, and my son had fries, a cookie, and a drink. Nachos were fantastic and my son enjoyed the cookie. The one issue I had was that the fries were unbelievably salty! They were so oversalted that my son did not finish them. I returned for my second visit with my partner. I had the delicata squash sandwich, the trumpet mushrooms, a side of fries that I specifically ordered with light salt, and my partner had the fried Chicken sandwich and fries with light salt. Salt. The salt issue came up again because the trumpet mushrooms were incredibly salty - I believe it had too much soy sauce in it. The fries, although I ordered" lightly salted" fries, were once again oversalted. Please, stop with the heavy-handed salt. I will say that my squash sandwich was absolutely delicious. I've never had one before and it was incredible- my partner finished half of it. He was not so impressed with his chicken sandwich, as he felt that the Patty and breading was incredibly under seasoned- which is surprising. Considering the salt level and other things. I will continue to patronize the cafe and try more menu items. In the future, I'll be ordering my fries with no salt to avoid the saltine problem. read more
