The location is great, so we end up coming here to eat if we are in downtown Duluth and want some BBQ. The food is not bad at all, my BF loved the BBQ sandwich with the rib tips, but it's a little too sweet for me (but I don't like things too sweet) I get the pork plate, we both love the fried orka and I get the green beans for more veggies. We love sitting outside with our dog when the weather is nice. Inside is a little dark, but is fine when the weather is terrible outside. As soon as you walk in the door you can smell the smoke coming from the indoor pit in the back corner! Ohhhh it smelled so good. The place is a throwback to old school BBQ spots. A local spot not too far from my work Dreamland smells like I image heaven smells... When you pull into the lot the over powering aroma of smoked meat wraps you in its warm embrace and gently pulls you into its dreamy hug. Basically the smell is amazing! I've said it before... bottle this smell and sell it as cologne! What man wouldn't love to smell like smoked meat? The location is simple but roomy. They have a long bar area and lots of table space. My group came at lunch time and there was plenty of room. The smoking pit is right in the wall of the dinning area so the wonderful aroma of smoking meat just permeates everything... it isn't Smokey in here though... it just provides more of that great perfume. I got the pulled pork sandwich and a side of wickles. Wickles are these crunchy spicy and sweet pickles that are habit forming. They add a great texture and flavor to just about any meal. The bbq sauce is more of the Carolina sauce type. A vinegar base sauce that is more tangy then spicy. Carolina bbq is good but it is not my favorite... however the food was still good. I just prefer my sauce to be a bit more spicy then tangy. Our service was great... the atmosphere was good, the location nice... I'd eat here again if I was with someone who wanted to... but due to the style of BBQ it just is not my preference and I would not pick the location myself. So disappointing. Hadn't been here in a while and stopped by for lunch, and was shocked by the poor quality of the food. Pork was very fatty and had very little flavor. Rib tips were more like Sloppy Joe meat slathered in too much sauce, you couldn't even taste the meat. Fries were cold when served and house chips tasted stale. My wife's chicken salad was similarly unappetizing. We ended up leaving most of our portions on our plates; very unsatisfying meal and a complete waste of money. The inside was a bit smoky and nothing fancy, but it clean and had several tags to look at while waiting. This location of a well known small chain in the south fulfilled its mission completely. No pretentious. Kind of divey. But really good filling pit BBQ at a reasonable price. My daughter especially loves the deep fried okra and my wife appreciated the burnt tips. read more

When I walked in, I was greeted and order taken no problem. My first visit I did to go and so this visit I did the same to do a fair comparison. You have several meat options with this plate. I decided to go with ribs and chicken and for my sides mac n cheese and green beans. I also decided to give the banana pudding another go. Friend of mine told me before you know it's a real bbq place when they just give you slices of bread to go with your food. Lol. It also came with 2 slices white bread and small side of bbq sauce. My dad taught me to me season my meat well and not drown it in bbq sauce. With that said, I was happy the sauce was the side because I didn't use it nor need it. I did taste it just to see. The bbq sauce was thin but nice flavor. The ribs and chicken were well seasoned for sure. Just the right amount of seasoning to give it a good flavor. I wish the chicken hadn't been diced up so small. You have to use fork to scoop it all up. The ribs weren't fall off the bones tender but tender enough. The right before they fall off the bone. Lol. Ribs tasted pretty good. So the sides...the green beans were not over cooked this time. However, the seasoning was a bit too much. There was too much salt for my liking. The mac n cheese looked pretty good. I would say that it reminded of KFC mac n cheese. I was not a fan of it. I wanted a more home cooked mac n cheese than what I got. It wasn't bad just not my preference. The banana pudding was pretty good. It had a really good balance of wafers, bananas, and pudding. Definitely enjoyed finishing my meal with that. I had a chopped pork sandwich,creamy coleslaw and green beans. The pork was tasty! Finely chopped, not overly dry, nor overly salted. The pickles were dill not those horrible sweet bread and butter ones! The sauce was a wonderful balance of vinegar/ sweet combo. Definitely my cup of tea! The coleslaw was cold and perfect! Although I lived in Roswell for several years I've only been to this place one time. The first time I think I had the chicken and it was pretty good but I never tried the ribs until yesterday. They were out of rib tips so I got a rib plate with two sides. You get a lot of food for the money. I also tried the fried green tomatoes and they were really good and fresh. Gisele was our server and she was really good with recommending something different since they were out of rib tips. She was a really good server she made sure that the girls have their drinks refilled and brought us to go containers even for the barbecue sauce. Great service and great food.
