There was a mix-up with our peanut allergy note on the reservation, but the manager and our server were both really nice and got the situation corrected quickly, which we really appreciated. The food was mostly great -- the French onion soup was flavorful, and the calamari had a good spicy kick. The mac and cheese was so good with that crispy breading on top. The steak and asparagus were cooked well, and the sweet potato fries were tasty, though a little too sweet -- they really don't need extra sugar. The mashed potatoes had good flavor but could've been a bit creamier. The martinis were good. The water had a strange taste, the Sprite tasted more like 7UP, and the glassware was a bit sticky, which was noticeable. Overall, good food, friendly service, and a comfortable atmosphere. We are visiting family and they wanted to take us out for dinner at the Village Tavern. Overall I would say our entire experience was meh. We ordered drinks but half the table ordered bar drinks that took forever to arrive. We ordered the onion dip and spinach dip for apps. The onion dip was missing onion and the spinach dip was blah, not much flavor. For our main I had the pimento blt which was really good but the fries were dull. Unfortunately my husband had the short ribs and they were horrible. They were drier than sawdust. My mother had a burger which was okay. My uncle enjoyed his fish and my grandmother enjoyed her ahi tuna. My aunt also had the blt and again it was very good. My husband and I recently discovered Village Tavern on a whim not even a month ago, and we've been back 3 times already. This place is amazing! They offer so many food options and also a great Happy Hour selection. The interior reminds me of Fort Wilderness Lodge. For those that are Disney fans, you'll understand the reference. The location can get quite busy, but there is plenty of seating to handle large crowds both indoor and outdoor. The staff is amazing. We've never had someone help us that isn't polite or ready to give A+ service. I've tried so many things on the menu from their appetizers, to their dinner options, and ultimately their happy hour offerings. My current favorite appetizer is the Flash Fried Calamari. So flavorful and honestly I never want to share with my husband - it's THAT GOOD. The Happy Hour options are so filling and easily could satisfy a dinner craving for those that aren't super hungry. So, I decided to come back here since I had a good experience the first time and the food was good. I wasn't really impressed this time around, unfortunately. Service was incredibly slow. We ordered the crab dip, and honestly, I couldn't taste much of anything. I apps got the crabcakes as my entree and it was the same thing, no taste. My husband got the fish and chips and he didn't really enjoy it. The fish was had an overwhelming oil taste to it. I have been going here with my family ever since I was a child. It is truly a long standing neighborhood staple. Still quite busy even though it's been around forever, so that says something about this place. Bar area was busy with a more casual crowd. We ate on the dining room side. Service was properly attentive for a place of this caliber. Wide selection of what they call martinis but I call cosmos. Berry one much better than the pear one. Drinks similarly priced to other restaurants in the area. Our food did take a while to come out, but again, the place was quite crowded so not a big surprise.This is a place to go to linger and enjoy the ambiance and company, not to rush in and out of. My pork chop was perfectly cooked, just enough to get the pink out and still remain moist. Chutney definitely added flavor to otherwise benign mashed potatoes and green beans. I would order it again. I also love their grilled chicken Caesar salad. Tons of seating available (tables and booths), and they do take reservations for larger parties. read more

Not the same VT. My husband and I moved to Alpharetta 14 years ago and have been frequent patrons. The ambiance is wonderful, service is always good, and the food WAS consistent. Our food has been hit and miss for the past couple of years but we always go back thinking it was an anomaly. Their burgers were the best in town. Seems like they can't cook them to your requested temp anymore. We have returned them more often than not. There again tonight and the calamari was over cooked to rubber and the Cesar dressing was awful. We were told it was changed recently and no one likes it. Clearly no consistency in the kitchen. I came again on a business trip to Alpharetta back in September and came for lunch with a group of coworkers. Our party came staggered as two of our group were running late due to a meeting going over the allotted time. Laurel, our waitress was super cool about it and just cool in general. This place is always packed for lunch. I just don't get it... are we starved for good places to eat around here. This is ok... it is by far not great! I had a Greek salad that was void of much besides lettuce. Including the dressing. I mean it was ok but it was very minimal and they still charged mint for basically lettuce. Service was good. They are always on top of it. My deal is that the food is just ok... it really is nothing special. My team continues to come here... I guess for convenance sake? I used to come here a lot back in the day and was always happy. Unfortunately this evening was horrible. It wasn't very busy and yet the service was terrible. At one point the bartender was so busy talking to 3 regulars or friends ‍ my drink sat empty for 15 minutes too long. Also when I questioned the length of time it was taking to get our appetizer I was told, "we have a couple large parties!". Oh, well excuse me, I'm sorry for coming into your restaurant and taking away time from the VIP large parties. Shrinkflation has mad it to VT. As a regular patron it's very recognizable when your food shows up far smaller than before for the same price. Caesar salad portions have shrunk. This restaurant had its own parking and it's an independent building. We started off with drinks where we had a old fashion and they did it right the first time with a single large cube of ice. But when ordering it again, the second time they just did standard amount of tons of ice instead. So they know how to do it, but not more than once the food was good we ordered the chicken and also the Braves short ribs. The short ribs were very good. Service was decent. My wife and I went there the day after Valentine's Day (we don't go out on the 14th because the restaurants are a nightmare, but that's a rant for a different time). We had made reservations and were seated right away. Our server, Justin, was excellent. We liked how he would do a drive by replacement for her Diet Cokes when they got low. He'd walk by quickly and drop off a new glass without even stopping. I ordered the fish and chips and my wife ordered the shrimp and grits. I asked for a side of sweet potato fries. A minute later my wife asked why I ordered that when the "chips" in fish and chips are fries. I told her it's because I'm stupid. Fortunately, Justin interpreted my request as asking for substituting the regular fries with the sweet potato fries. The batter on the fish was crisp and tasty. However, everything else was just OK. The fish was bland, and the tartar sauce did nothing to enhance the flavor until I put a little bit of pepper in it. The coleslaw was also tasteless. The fries were good but got soggy quickly. Before ordering the shrimp and grits, my wife asked Justin if they were spicy (she doesn't like spicy). Justin said they were a little spicy, but they could adjust that, which they did. It's too bad she doesn't like spicy because that would have been the only interesting thing about the dish. It, like almost everything else we ate that night, was bland. We had the caramel sundae for dessert. the ice cream had ice chips in it (what was the deal with it with chips that night?), so we did not finish it. My actual rating is 3.5/5 I went to the village tavern with my family on Friday for dinner and liked the ambiance. It was brimming with people and looked like a good place for family or date nights. Here is the summary of my experience there: Ambiance: 5/5: I really like the decor and atmosphere. It gave a posh vibe where you can take your family and dates for a romantic dinner. Service: 4/5: The service was good and the servers were delightful. I saw they amicably solve a slight bickering with a customer without disturbing other customers. The only problem I felt was that bread was not served unless we asked for it. I also liked the fact that they did split my food into two and brought it when we asked for it. Food 3/5: This rating is based on my first-time experience and might change in the future. Here is the summary of the food I had: 1. Brick chicken: The chicken was undercooked and difficult to slice through. Also, I did not feel it was crisp as the menu said. The garlic mashed potato was a good side to it. Also, it was pricy for the portion. You can share it with 2 people if you are mildly hungry but I would suggest a complete order for yourself if you are really hungry. 2. The fries which were served were soggy. My golden standard for fries is McDonald's fries which I love and these were not at par with it. Additionally, I felt the menu did not have a lot of chicken-only items. Anything that had chicken in it was also accompanied by either bacon or beef. It would be great if I can order chicken-only items in the main course as well. Value for Money 3/5: I felt the place is pricey and on the heavier side of the pocket. Village Tavern has long been a work lunch go-to for the variety and quality of food and the quick yet friendly service. The past 2 visits have been a huge departure in service and food. I'm not sure if the staff is overwhelmed or just new, but the service has been a mess. On one occasion, we were seated and no one came to our table. After approximately 10 minutes we flagged a waitress down and she got our server. It seemed like no one had been assigned our table of 6. On the most recent visit, service was ok until it was time to pay. We finished our meals and were ready to pay, but our waiter disappeared. On to the food... I recently ordered a salad and it was sitting in dressing. When it arrived, the lettuce was already soggy. This is when I knew the food had also taken a turn for the worst. In the past, the food wasn't anything spectacular, but it was tasty and consistently prepared well. I've come here a number of times and really enjoyed it! The most recent time we came here, I made a lunch reservation for a party of 10. As soon as we arrived, our table was ready and we sat down right away. Our server was phenomenal and super fast. We ordered a number of appetizers which came out within minutes of ordering them. We ordered the Caprese and fried Calamari. Both appetizers were fresh and delicious! I ordered the Fresh Catch of the Day: Mahi Mahi Hemingway. The Mahi Mahi was grilled in a white wine and butter sauce. It came with green beans and sautéed green beans. The dish was fantastic! Everyone at our table enjoyed their entrees as well. They really liked the fig jam burger, the Cuban sandwich, and the Salmon sandwich. I look forward to coming back again soon and definitely recommend this restaurant for lunch or dinner! read more

This place kind of looked like a old hibachi house from the outside. This restaurant is in the middle of the North Point Mall parking lot so it can be kind of hidden from the street view. I'm glad we decided to go here! It's actually very big and cozy inside they even have a couple of fireplaces near the dining booths. The decor is Very traditional with cherry wood furnishings. Kind of outdated, but it is fitting for their concept. We had a long business meeting there, so stayed for quite a while and the service the entire time was excellent! Our waiter was so attentive and kept making sure we were OK. She even let us pick the best spot to hold our dinner meeting without any issues. The food was surprisingly pretty good! I got the traditional nachos, and that plate was enormous! I am a big fan of nachos and I could not finish my plate even with it being shared. It was that big! I also got an order of seafood pasta, very similar to what Pappadeaux or Copeland would serve. It was almost just as good! I would definitely go back to this hidden gem again. It was very good and the fries were killer, no seed oil happening here Grabbed a couple of peanut butter pies to go and they were killer as well. Looking around saw lots of things to check out next visit. Great service.
