My friend ordered the gumbo and said it was very good with a good kick. I got the crawfish mac n cheese which was delightful and a perfect portion in my opinion. I did not find it spicy for anyone who's afraid of spice. We finished up with the beignets and they were fluffy and sweet and just right. Dined here tonight. From NOLA and found the gumbo was very thick and salty. Fried shrimp were good. No bread or crackers, nothing put on table, have to buy it. The restaurant was uncomfortably warm. Found it odd they didn't have tarter sauce. Were out of bitters for the bourbon cocktail (strange for a restaurant the wants to specialize in bourbon drinks) At table next to us, saw a white wine sent back when the customer ordered a cabernet, go figure. The waitress brought my plate with hushpuppies on it. I didn't order them and they cost extra. She brought an empty plate and stood there holding the plate while I had to pick them off my plate to give back to her. Recently in town so we stopped by for a quick lunch. I did not remember the food being so salty. Yeah cajun food is supposed to be well seasoned. But this was beyond that. Not one dish but all the dishes were overly salty. We got half chargrilled oyster and half Rockefeller oyster. Both were salty but the rockefeller was a sorry excuse to be even called that. My husband discovered this restaurant while looking for a place to eat lunch, and we decided to stop in for some authentic Cajun food. The service was good and attentive throughout our visit. We started with the alligator bites (not pictured). While they were fresh, we found them a bit dry and lacking in flavor. Fortunately, the trio of sauces served on the side helped liven them up, but I wouldn't order them again. Next, we tried the Oysters Rockefeller, and they were absolutely delicious--perfectly cooked and full of flavor. Both my husband and I really enjoyed them. The atmosphere was stunning! A small old house turned into a restaurant. We had a work party of 10 and we sat upstairs in the loft area. We really had the place to ourselves. But then they came and said that the min for a part of ten was 1400... not including tip or tax!!! WTF?!? We were all stuffed and had eaten just about all we could! I mean we ordered 6 aps, entrees for each, 6 deserts, most people drank... but we were 600 short of the ridiculous min! I mean this worked out to 140 per person?!? I have never been to a place that did this... in the beginning they would not budge on the difference. They wanted to charge us an extra 600 on top of the 800+ we had already eaten! after some discussions they finally allowed us to include tip and tax but we were still 400 short. We ended up ordering some Papi at $85 a glass, for a couple of our coworkers, to get us to the needed total but I'm telling you this place blew it. I work for a company that does events all the time... from in location dinners to catered events... what they made us spend that night cost them 100x more in future business. Our last event we planned ran over 3000 at the last place we ate and we do several of those a year! Before all the craziness I was considering coming again with an even bigger group and even having them cater our next event. Not anymore. In fact I won't be back. I am so glad we stumbled upon this place and gave it a try! They do Louisiana-style cooking very well, and you will not be disappointed with their flavors or the wide variety of entrées on their menu. It was evenly cooked throughout, which some restaurants struggle with, but definitely not this one. It was served with a brown sugar and sweet potato risotto, which complemented the salmon perfectly, and also had asparagus on the side, which, no surprise, was cooked perfectly as well. We opted to try the beignets for dessert and added their praline stuffing, which elevated a classic beignet into the most decadent dessert you can imagine! My understanding is they rotate the beignet stuffing regularly with new flavors, so there's always something new to try. We sat outside on the porch and had great, friendly service. If you do not like spicy food stay away. I love spicy food, and it was delicious. The hostess "Chris" recommended THE BEST ever bread pudding. OMG! It was warm, sweet to perfection, 10 out of 10. Gumbo: they don't serve seafood gumbo, from the looks and taste I guess it's Cajun style gumbo since the base didn't seem to have tomato and it's spicier; Jambalaya: it's the andouille sausage version, I hope they can make seafood version of Jambalaya as well, the taste of seafood Jambalaya is very close to Paella; Crawfish Étouffée: the look and taste of the gravy were almost same as gumbo except it's thicker, don't get me wrong, I liked it, should I know it, I would order Crawfish Étouffée only; Shrimp Andouille: I liked the smoky flavor from chunks of famous andouille sausage, red beans tasted very soft. I went here in November of '24 for a work trip and it was SO delicious. The asparagus was good but the jambalaya was beyond incredible. My coworker got a bigger dish but neither of us could finish our meals! Super delicious but also super filling. It was warm for late November so we sat outside and we were glad to have! I myself had the seafood risotto which was ok as it was very bland and not at all hearty and filling like risottos that I'm used to. It had salmon broken up in pieces into it, small bites of crawfish and shrimp, which the dish lacked flavor and seasoning. The rest of my party had the salmon and shrimp pasta which they enjoyed. I had a vintage old fashioned drink which I didn't see the waitress to get a straw but that would have been nice to have so I could sip my drink.
