We recently had a death in the family and we needed a last-minute reservation for a large table to host several family members who flew in from out of town. The general manager Joel was very accommodating and helped ensure our large party was taken care of. We also went early at around 4 during the start of their amazing happy hour service - and several local friends and family were able to stop by and meet the family to say hello and have a drink & offer condolences Our server Spencer and other staff took exceptional care of us. I formerly opened and worked at the Pieology that has since closed but originally was a tenant in the neighboring building of Firebirds. I'd come in for a drink after earlier day shifts, and grab a small bite on occasion. Back then, it wasn't ever busy but it has taken a positive turn for its reputation in the Avalon area. My husband and I ate here recently for brunch, I had no idea what to expect as I'd never had brunch here before. Sat immediately, and served promptly by the nice gentleman. We got to chatting and found he had just started, working mostly just for the holidays. I ordered the Shrimp and Grits, and they were incredible--even without the sausage! Not a big pork eater, here. The flavors were authentic Cajun, and do recommend it if you're ever here for Brunch. My other half ordered the breakfast burger--warning this thing is HUGE but according to him an incredible foodie adventure to conquer. Atmosphere is a bit dark and drab, but not a deterrence from coming back to try again. One last note to wrap it up, service needs to be sure to recognize Happy Holidays versus immediately resorting to Merry Christmas--very adamant from our server when I said Happy Holidays upon leaving. It's just a courtesy to those like myself who do not celebrate the mainstream holiday. Came in for a Sunday Brunch prior to a concert. The first impression as you walk in is pretty impressive. It looks more like a fine dining steakhouse than a casual steakhouse. But then you are seated.... Ugh the tables....They are SO gross. They are so sticky you have to ask to keep a menu so you can rest your arms on top of them instead of the table. We asked the waitress if she could get us a wet rag so we could wipe down the table. She did that, but it didn't help. I attempted to clean it with a napkin and hand sanitizer and that didn't help. I have no clue what is ingrained into the wood but whatever it is....sand it off! LOL Many of the tables are super old looking with rough top surfaces. The table next to us actually looked like there was food all over it or stuck to it but then someone was seated there and we realized the sun shining into the window was basically showing how damaged the table top is. Please refinish the tables. Cleanliness.....yeah this is not a strong suit...At least that Sunday it wasn't. There were more tables that hadn't been bussed after a party leaving than there were with people sitting at them. Plenty of wait staff kept just walking by these tables and I never saw one of them get cleaned off. The food... the deviled eggs were good. We both ordered the brunch burger. I ordered mine to be medium and my friend ordered medium rare. We both ended up getting rare. It was so hard to eat and not be grossed out. The sear on the outside was perfect, but the inside was barely cooked. I don't live in the area so don't have many opportunities to go back to see if they were just having an off day, but I also wouldn't go out of my way to go there. read more

I can see why this is a popular spot for business groups but It probably is really nice for a date night as well. We were having girls lunch and it was super busy. We ordered the mushrooms, fondue lobster queso, bread, lobster bisque and a Smokehouse BbQ sandwich. All the food came out promptly. I thought the dishes were flavorful. The fondue had maybe three pieces of lobster, at $19 it was yummy but lacked the lobster meat. I would give them another try but probably stick to appetizers and maybe a burger. read more

I've been to Firebirds plenty of times, but never for one thing in particular. In my experience, it's been great for whatever you are in the mood for whether it be: appetizers, salad, burgers, pasta, steak - you name it. This Firebirds is located across from Avalon (an extremely popular Alpharetta shopping center). It offers both indoor and outdoor seating and the interior is quite appealing for any guest. I haven't been here during an evening weekend, however during any of the times I have eaten here there is always a large crowd. On my most recent visit I ordered the Three Course Menu for $39.95, while my husband ordered a burger with a side of scalloped potatoes. My three course meal consisted of a side Caesar Salad, Grilled Sirloin with a side of garlic mashed potatoes, and a slice of Crème Brûlée Cheesecake to end with. Chose this place for brunch since they had an early seating in a relatively diverse menu. The staff was lovely. Welcoming and helpful and did their best to see our every request accommodated. Had a good menu with a nice mix of breakfast and lunch options which were perfect for a brunch offering. Those are the positives. This was Sunday brunch and the first thing they tell us is there isn't a bartender, but they'll do their best to make whatever we ask for which seem since it was brunch. Then they're out of bloody Mary mix so no bloody Mary's are available. I had the French toast bake and my friend had the scrambled egg plate. The French toast bake was OK, nothing really spectacular about it, but the portion was good and it did have a good taste taste. My friend's egg plate was unremarkable and arrived cold and relatively tasteless. We did order the cinnamon roll appetizer and that was delicious and really the best part of the meal. The best thing about this place was it was empty and we were able to enjoy a nice long chat, which is what we were looking for and we were not rushed out of the restaurant, which was very nice. 2/23/25 - party of 2 5pm When my son and I arrived at Firebirds, there were about 8 occupied tables/booths. The hostess seemed unsure of where to seat us and walked us all around the dining room before finally seating us in a booth. The music was very hip-hop and extremely loud. It definitely didn't fit the ambiance of this nicely decorated dining room. We both ordered steaks. I asked for mine medium rare with no bacon butter on top. My son ordered his filet medium. Our cooking preferences were mixed up and my steak was very overcooked - almost medium well - and soaked in bacon butter. Our waiter was missing in action so I scraped off the bacon butter and started eating. I chose the meal deal with a salad, entree and dessert. When the waiter brought the check, I inquired about my dessert to go. He went to get it and disappeared again. We waited quite a while until reappeared. I asked about the dessert again and he asked if I had ordered the meal deal. Good grief. I finally got the cheesecake and we departed. Overcooked, undercooked and chaos wasn't worth the $110 bill for 2. At least the salads and bread were good. read more

I love Firebirds for their Cajun ribeye, BLT salad, great happy hour drinks. Whenever I'm in town I go for the treat. Tonight my $50 ribeye was burned and tough as leather. They usually do a fine job of well done, tender, seasoned, juicy ribeye! When I sent the steak back, the manager came over and tried to explain the cooking process for a ribeye and I let him know I am well aware of how to cook a ribeye and they missed the mark tonight. Rather than apologize while looking at the charred steak, he acted like he did me a favor to cook a next one. I didn't appreciate that energy. Stopped here before heading to Ameris for a concert. We didn't have a reservation but there were plenty of tables. We sat in the patio. Our server greeted us with menus and water. I initially looked at their menu online and noticed they had happy hour from 4-7 pm but our server was definitely unsure about it. He brought us a bar menu but he just seemed confused about it so we were wondering if we could be served at the patio; turns out yes. We ordered fried cauliflower and salad. The fried cauliflower was shareable between 2-3 people but I could have easily finished it, lol. The sirloin salad was a good serving with a decent portion of steak cooked medium rare. We had the best experience at Firebirds for our friend's birthday. Our server Sina took fabulous care of. Us and made sure we had everything we could possibly need. We started with some delicious happy hour starters - crispy cauliflower, fired up shrimp, and crab fritters. The classic cocktails hit just right and were great for the price. The steaks were delicious as well, they also have my favorite Caesar salad out of the chain steakhouses. Recently we got a family meal to go and can definitely recommend this option for you. The amount of tasty food we got was amazing. The website says that the meal feeds four to six and they're right! Generous portions and cooked to order. Apparently i made an error with the order but they quickly resolved my issue without blaming me first the mistake. I've been to Firebirds in Alpharetta several times and usually order the same pasta dish with extra sauce. In the past, it's always been a good experience. Sometimes they even gave me a full bowl of sauce on the side. But my most recent visit was completely different and very disappointing. I arrived to pick up a to-go order my husband had placed. While waiting at the bar, I ordered a drink from Malia (the bartender). When my food came, it had two small containers of sauce. I asked for two more. Malia went to the back and returned with only one. When I asked again, the chef -- who introduced himself as Chef Rob and also said he was the manager. Instead of resolving the situation, Chef Rob (or Robert Johnson, according to his uniform) started looking through my to-go bag and in a derogatory tone asked me over and over, "How many sauces do you WANT?" It was said in a way that made me feel like I was asking for too much. I explained several times: I had two, asked for two more, and only received one, so all I needed was one more. Rather than just fixing it, he kept repeating the same question and even began reciting how many ounces were in each container as if to lecture me about why I didn't need more. His tone was rude, dismissive, and completely unnecessary for such a simple request. Later, I stepped toward the kitchen with my husband on speakerphone. At that point, Chef Rob's tone suddenly changed. He told my husband it was a "miscommunication." My husband even thought he was speaking to a different person because of how different Rob's demeanor was compared to how he acted with me at the bar. To me, this wasn't about miscommunication. It was about the way the situation was handled. A loyal customer shouldn't be made to feel uncomfortable or interrogated over something as small as extra sauce. I even offered to pay for it. I left Firebirds feeling disrespected and embarrassed instead of cared for. This was not the level of service I've experienced here before, and I hope management takes this seriously. read more

My coworker and I came to Firebirds for dinner on our first night of our business trip in Alpharetta back in September. We were set to meet with one of the vendors that work with our company and his wife. We were all co-presenting a training class the next day and we planned to eat and drink together the night before. We were sat and we told our waitress and we waited for 20 minutes, we kept calling and could not reach him. We found out later it was due to a flight delay, but we were noticeably worried. Still we decided to eat and drink. Kenya server was absolutely awesome! She noticed our mood snd asked what was wrong. She showed empathy and her great personality and jokes helped us get out of our funk. She truly was amazing! She also made great recommendations on what to have. Talking about my friend had a beer but I ordered a Lemonade Drop. This drink is made with Tito's Handmade Vodka, Alex's Fresh Lemonade with a sugar rim... very refreshing! For our meal I had the Tomahawk Pork Chop... it was flavorful, juicy, and succulent! My coworker had parmesan crusted chicken, that he thoroughly enjoyed. We ordered our drinks, one appetizer, and dinner. We had three martinis, an order of the Deviled eggs and the "$7.50" salads that were to go with our entrees. After one and a half hours, we had not been served our entrees. However, the couple across from us and the gentleman sitting next to us got their food. We asked for our bill because we were tired of waiting. We were charged for the drinks, the appetizer and full price for the salads and never received the entrees. The bill was $82. Went to Firebirds while in town twice; once for dinner and another time for a drink and some apps. It was conveniently located near the hotel we were staying at and was chosen by one of our local colleagues. I liked the overall vibe of the restaurant and decor. I thought the menu had a good variety of options varying from steak, seafood, and other entrees, to handhelds, and appetizers. While I did not pick the three-course meal option, I did like that it was available on the menu to select soup or salad, main course, and dessert, all for a given price, from a smaller selection of items on the menu. The first visit was for dinner - we all ordered one of the steaks. I really wanted to get the ribeye; however, I tried to ask our waitress for more information on the "aged" aspect, as I personally don't care for the dry-aged taste and flavor. Unfortunately, our waitress was not able to confidently answer my question / provide context as to whether it was a dry-aged or regular, so to not chance getting a steak I did not like and double the cost, I opted for the Roasted Garlic Sirloin. The garlic thyme butter was excellent - really enjoyed that. It had excellent flavor and really enhanced the steak. The steak itself was okay - what I expected for a sirloin... not as juicy and flavorful as, say a ribeye, which I prefer, but it was still a decent steak and good for the price associated. The apps and drinks were good when I went the second time too. They have the dining area in the back and the bar area in the front - plenty of seating. They provided a new server who totally botched our orders. when trying to find the manager he could not be found. After 3 hours and orders forgotten (including the birthday guest). The last time I reviewed this restaurant I was able to give a much higher rating. Last night we were disappointed. My coworkers (party of 6) and I went to enjoy some time together socializing over libations and good food. First - the Happy Hour Lemon Drop Martinis all three of use agreed tasted like lemonade with sugar on the rim, I had to order a shot of vodka to make it taste like a Lemon Drop. The other friend who doesn't drink enjoyed it ;-). Thank you for the Happy Hour price, but lesson learned next time just order a shot of vodka neat. beverages - Strike 1. We socialized and some of the food came out as ordered, but one of us had ordered wings - flats only, and another drums only, drums came out as ordered. The flats were actually mixed, OK things happen. Waitress replaced it with a flats - good; however, with FEATHERS attached after being prepped and fried. Friend was by this time irritated. The Manager then got involved, extended our friend another item gratis from the menu. OK, thanks. Then another friend had ordered a steak, medium rare and her comment, "this is a hockey puck." and the meat was definitely not looking tender or medium rare. Manager came over, put in an order for another steak. Unfortunately this friend had to sit and wait at the table after everyone else had finished eating while talking (this takes time people). And her steak still hadn't come. Couldn't get our waitress' attention because she was talking with another table for most of our meal. OK she knows them we guess. But food and inattention - swing and a miss I want to add that the Manager did comp the wing friend and I the steak friend, and comped us all dessert, nicely done. However, we waited quite a while for those desserts to go ( because by now we had to) AND the checks. One friend will never come out with us again due to this experience. It was a disappointment. Places can be busy and hiccups happen, but multiple hiccups on basic things is disappointing. Hopefully last night was a short staffed and not well trained one off situation. Manager did as well he might be allowed. It will still remain popular, especially with smaller parties and at the bar at Happy Hour and the bar food selections. I've been here a few times before and never bothered with a review because the temperature of these reviews is pretty much accurate. It's somewhere between an Outback and a steakhouse. Not a lot really get into the what I think is the real reason to come here -- happy hour. For what it's worth, they call their happy hour area Firebar. There's no fire, and it's not hot ... so the reasoning escapes me, but for somewhere you can go *consistently* Monday through Friday 4-7PM, you can easily make this a part of your rotation. They have a pretty limited selection of appetizers, but when most are less than $6, it's hard to complain. I've tried a lot of them, and I'd definitely get them again. Their bar is stocked by someone with OCD because it looks like a work of art with everything arranged in colors. If you stick with their house stuff, you can get a cocktail for $7.50. They have pretty decent seating -- ample chairs (yes, with backs) around the bar, and lots of patio space. If you got more than four in your party though, it's gonna be a little tight around those weird kidney bean shaped tables. No complaints about service. Everyone there was super friendly. read more

A great vibe and very nice inside. The food was good. Their Firebird's Chicken Pasta was probably the best plate at our table. It had a hint of heat and was very flavorful. The steaks were good but they weren't something I would be gushing over. The Parmesan Mashed potatoes were amazing. Staff was friendly but a bit slow. It wasn't that busy when we went. Overall it was a great experience and food was good. If you're in the area because you're shopping at the Avalon and don't exactly want to eat over at the mall, this is right across the street and is a good option. read more

Yum! Stopped in for a quick lunch while in Alpharetta and got the honey garlic chicken with a side Cesar salad. Both were delicious and light enough for lunch! I didn't feel over stuffed. Both dishes were gluten free (after I requested no croutons with the salad). Service was great- she knew all about the gluten free dishes and how they were prepared. I got the Firebirds' Chardonnay and it was delicious! My boyfriend got a burger and tater tots which were crispy and delicious. The kitchen made him a special fry sauce as well. The inside of the restaurant is dark and moody, I loved it! They were playing good music too. We will be back- especially for the happy hour! read more

Update 10/7/23 This was my third visit to Firebirds Wood fired Grill in Alpharetta. When I walked inside, I was immediately reminded of how much I like the look of the interior of the restaurant. The bar area is a colorful kaleidoscope of bottles from bar level all the way up to the ceiling. I decided to go with a salad this time, so I ordered the grilled tenderloin salad. This salad really tasted amazing. The combination of grilled tenderloin, mixed greens, bleu cheese crumbles, and balsamic vinaigrette provided the perfect combination of flavors. While the food and ambience are incredibly memorable, the service simply does not measure up to other high-end restaurants in the area. For example, when I entered the restaurant, there was nobody to greet me. I walked over to the bar area, and there was a server standing there engrossed in watching a college football game. Shortly there after a host appeared, and I was able to be seated. Upon leaving the restaurant, there were four people standing behind the host stand. As I walked by them, nobody, thanked me, acknowledged me, or invited me to return to the restaurant. As a result, I won't be returning to this restaurant anytime soon. Cheers read more

I was impossible to review this establishment as we had to leave before we got started. My wife and I decided we wanted to try this place after she had eaten here with a friend. We walk in and a host came to greet us shortly after we walked in. It was 5 PM and asked for a table for two. The host brought us to a section of the restaurant that was next to the restroom and no other patrons; the other section was less than 2/3 full and waite staff was servicing these tables. After about 10-15 mins sitting in the very dim section and no one coming to greet us or take a drink/food order we decided to leave and walked out without anyone asking us why.
