Disappointing takeout, and the service made it worse I ordered takeout of chicken vodka and ravioli. The first trip was a wasted one: they gave me rigatoni instead of ravioli, so I drove all the way back to the restaurant. Whoever brought out the replacement just handed me the container and walked away without saying a word, not even an apology. At home, the problems kept coming: The ravioli was raw. The pasta was doughy and completely undercooked. The chicken was rubbery and spongy. The sausage in the vodka sauce was burned. I ended up throwing the entire meal away. I ordered this meal for delivery, so I can't comment on the en-restaurant experience. But ... The food is extremely salty. I stated with a Caesar salad. The Caesar salad had a very generous portion, but the dressing - salty. I ordered the eggplant rollentini and meal was over baked and the red sauce was salty and sour. Definitely not the comforting red sauce I was expecting. I feel like I need a gallon of water to wash down the salt. We were the first people to arrive for lunch so the service was immediate. I ordered chicken Francese, which came with pasta, and I asked for spinach instead. Request immediately granted. The garlic rolls came out first, with four hot ones in a basket and a side of marinara sauce for dipping. They were succulent, hot, soft, garlicy, and flawless. My companion ordered salmon with artichokes, tomatoes, and a lemony sauce. Both of which were very tasty. The piece of salmon was the largest portion I have ever seen in a restaurant... perfectly cooked. There was no way we could finish our lunches so when our server brought to-go boxes, she made sure that we both had two more hot rolls dripping in garlic to go with our next meal. Worst dinning experience ever. We went there with two kids, the youngest 2 year-old. Dinner started good, the staff was helpful and polite. Then the owner suddenly decided that he was done with us, refused to give us the dessert menu or served us coffee and told us to leave. He then started yelling at us (not sure what he was saying but pretty sure it wasn't very nice), all the while wiping the table even if we were barely finished with our food. I think he was exasperated by us being with a young kid (and it's not like we were hiding the kid, they even gave us a high chair) being, well, a young child. We couldn't believe how we were treated. We should have known when we arrived around 1pm for lunch on Saturday and saw only 2 cars parked in front to turn around and leave! But, we thought we'd give it a chance since the last Ippolito's location we visited in Suwanee was excellent. It is clear this establishment is going downhill. Ambiance is dark and gloomy. Service was subpar- we had to ask for straws and water refills, server was not knowledgeable about the menu, and they didn't clear appetizer plates before bringing out entrees so it became an awkward dance of trying to clear the table ourselves to make room for entree dishes. Food: Nope. Just don't come here if you are craving delicious Italian. Sadly the craveable garlic rolls that we were expecting were hard. The caesar salad was drenched in dressing. It would have actually been ok if it the lettuce wasn't sitting in a soup of dressing which made it super salty especially with all the cheese on top. Do not order the mussels. I ordered the white wine sauce and their extremely odd preparation that included red and green peppers left a lot to be desired. The sauce was definitely not classic when you think of white wine mussels and it was just too salty and gross. Overall, a sad experience and we will not be back. read more

Date of Ippolitos restaurant experience: Tuesday, 5/12/26 in Alpharetta, GA in the Kroger shopping center. All of the food that we were served was very poor quality and had either been frozen or store bought. Nothing was homemade. The garlic rolls were very stale, like they had sat out uncovered for days. They were sprinkled with some form of store bought, mystery cheese that was far from fresh. The rolls were unedible. The pizza crust was tasteless and had the consistency of cardboard. Instead of real chicken, the pizza had two-inch round, thinly sliced, processed chicken, lunch meat that was disgusting. The chicken in the chicken parmesan was almost non-existent. What there was of the chicken was so thin, it was about the width of a slice of cheese. It was all tasteless breading that was drenched in a watery sauce. The food was horrible and the service was no better. I had to ask for my grandson's water glass to be refilled, and then she never refilled it again. The plates of uneaten, stale rolls sat at the edge of the table throughout the entire meal. Even though the waitress walked by dozens of times, she never removed the plates. Ippolito's is a very poor, unsuccessful attempt at being an Italian restaurant. I am from the Chicago area and know what real Italian food is, and Ippolito's is far from it. What an absolute best establishment! When you want something so you go looking for it, well I found it. The food and bread came out piping hot like I wanted it to. I had not been to Ippolito's in several years. I used to go for lunch but they quit serving lunch. A friend was in town and had never been here so we went for dinner. The rolls were as good as I remembered. I had Baked Ziti which was delicious. My friend had Eggplant Parmesan which had artichoke hearts in it. Some of those were tough and she couldn't eat it. When the manager finally came over---he had been to all the tables that appeared to be regulars---she told him. He said no one had complained before. That was it. No apology or anything. Our waitress was very good. She did apologize. She gave us good service. However, the manager's attitude was a downer for me. I remember the managers at Ippolito's in the past being very customer oriented but that wasn't the case tonight unless you were a regular. Very disappointing. read more

I've known Ippolito's to be the neighborhood spot for garlic knots and Italian food for a while but have never had a chance to stop in. I stopped in for a late work lunch and was pleasantly welcomed by a food coma. I had to make sure we got those garlic knots ASAP, but also ordered a lasagna bc carbs all DAY. The lasagna was pretty good, although nothing special. Didn't have the desired cheese pull I was looking for. Loved the meaty red sauce, though! But those GARLIC KNOTS had me wanting more and more. We generally enjoy Ippolitos and used to go there all the time, but today when we went in they were doing some kind of fund raiser for an elementary school where the school convinced people to eat there and in exchange got part of the profits. The place was overrun by 5-7 year old children, and not one of them was sitting at a table behaving themselves. Instead they were running around screaming, hitting, yelling, and bumping into innocent bystanders. The parents were not doing a thing to control their children, not even pretending to try to control their children. I don't know why parents think it is okay to subject innocent strangers to their children, but the fact that the server didn't even once ask one of these parents to control their children means that we will never be back there again. It was honestly the worst dining experience I've had probably in my entire life, and they also clearly did not put enough servers on the schedule to deal with the increased demand of this fundraiser because our server ignored us the whole time, even when we tried to get her attention so that we could get boxes, pay, and get out of there. We were there for over two hours, which is far too long to deal with ill behaved children. read more

Well, it is the LAST CHEAT DAY of the year...LOL The Holiday season is actually one long Cheat Day, who am I kidding...LOL After the many culinary indulgences of sweet and savory things, I had the most unusual taste for CALAMARI.  Now, this surprised me. My cheat days usually have pizza, ribs or a burger attached but not today. No, today I wanted some fried squid...AKA...Calamari. Ippolito's is a well-known restaurant with several locations. I used to go to their former location on Peachtree Industrial but found the Roswell location to be even closer, so I went. The restaurant is a little dark inside but in a calming way. The host and hostess were cheerful and very accommodating. The host took my order, made some small talk and in about 15 minutes, CALAMARI!! You get a COPIOUS amount of the lightly-fried rings, a side of spicy marinara and two wedges of lemon. All incredibly good. I especially appreciated that they did not over-cook the calamari. Each piece was tender with a light crust. Delicious! They also have garlic rolls and they too are good. You can dip pieces in your spicy marinara, if you have any left. Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed my calamari and will make it a point to come back to try other menu items. Happy New Year! read more

In October 2024, I called and swung by Ippolito's Roswell requesting a table of 20 people for Dec 7, 2024 at 5pm. The restaurant mentioned that they do not officially make reservations, but the manager said both times that they couldaccommodate and made a note of it. I even mentioned that it was a Saturday but it would be early in the evening. On Wed Dec 4, 2024, I called to re-confirmed and left a message for the manager, but never got a call back. So on Thu Dec 5, I called again, but this time I was told that they could NOT accommodate. I was in a mad scramble to find a new restaurant. It did not seem like they were going to call me back. Wow - what a pathetic let down. Despite ignoring the recent bad press in the media, I was still punished. We received the wrong drinks. The replacement/correct drinks were hard to consume because they were so bad. Our meal was overcooked at the edge of burnt (had that nice burnt smell even though it wasn't black yet) and we weren't asked to order another round of drinks. Service was subpar even though the restaurant was almost empty. I've gone to this location and its previous location down the street since 1993. It was the worst time I have had at any of the Ipp's locations ever. Left me wondering if it was empty because of their sad product and service or because of the bad press- both I would guess. Of course I got a charming $50 bill. Like Rick S indicated, the rolls were good and better than we have had there in a few years. I've been to other Ippolitto's restaurants. The quality is just as good at this location. Had a group of 15 and we were seated quickly. The server took care of us quickly with the drinks and their fabulous garlic rolls. We ordered the grandpa meatballs. It has great seasoning; it has a little spice which we really enjoyed. The sauce was thick and the bread was very good. I had the salmon Gabriella which is wonderful. The salmon was cooked perfectly and the lemon sauce on the angel hair tasted good. I liked the spinach and artichokes with it. I wish there were more spinach in the dish. My husband had the special, the pork chop marsala. I had a taste and it's pretty good. The sauce is light and very good. The pork chop was well done. We ordered a cake to go. It was awesome. However the cake was a small sliver. We usually go to the one located on Roswell Rd and the slices are twice what we received. It was disappointing. Good cake but for $9 it should have been more than we received. Overall, we enjoyed our meal. Ippolitto's is good family style Italian food. read more

Ordered from grubhub wont go there again bc the owner has a rule not to give free rolls with purchased entrees. How much $ do u save by not providing the same level of food & service for take out that is provided when dining in? U gotta be a cheap, stingy @&& owner to do that. Consumers are paying more $ for less food and ur lucky ppl still patronize ur restaurant yet u think its a good idea to reduce the meal experience for take out customers by denying them rolls that typically are included with the meal for dine in. Alpharetta Hwy location doesnt do this so although HB location is closer, hell will freeze over before I go back there. We used to love this place. Ordered tonight and it took 30 min longer then expected. When I called to check on order I was placed on hold for a while and then told they could not check my order! Seriously rude! Called the manager and he said they didn't work with Grubhub but somehow my food was ordered and finally on the way? He even saw the order- how do you not work with a service and yet take my order? Grubhub driver messaged me letting me know that there was a long wait and she expected a "generous tip" for the wait they imposed on her. Food arrived cold. For the manager - Pls Get your act together and pretend to care about your customers. There are plenty of other places. We loved yours but Won't return after this. Actually, the second one of the staff finally came to the waiting area, I asked her if I could sit down, as it didn't appear they were in any rush. Waiter was very abrupt and unfriendly, similar to past experiences. Not even a 'hello' or a smile. Side salad no longer included with entrée! Service was average, on the slow side. So this restaurant was my boyfriends favorite as a kid, and i never had it so i was super excited to try! well i should've stuck with my original plan and went to olive garden. to start, our server was so rude. didn't even say hi when he came to the table and just asked what we wanted to drink. my boyfriend ordered a water and he said "ok two waters" and started walking away and i had to call him back just so i could order my coke. then we ordered our food, and everything tasted microwaved and was so hot like it was sitting under heat lamps forever. we got the meatballs as an app, and i ordered the chicken vodka that i ended up sending back because the chicken was so dry and the sauce was so watered down. i told the manager i'm assuming and he wasn't very apologetic, just asked if i wanted to order something else. which i didn't. when our server came back around he didn't even say anything about my food being sent back. he just took our plates and didn't say a word. I honestly felt our server was making assumptions that we wouldn't tip because me and my boyfriend are a young couple and this was an older man. The place had a pretty good late lunch crowd here when my friend and I stopped by for lunch around 1 PM this past Monday. The complimentary garlic knots were delish. If you're dying for more, go ahead and ask. So my friend and I shared our miniature meal, which was a pretty good portion size for two: * Pepe -- Sweet and yet salty at the same time. The Italian sausage was pretty good. The tomato sauce gave the pepe an extra flavor kick and moisture. The dough around the sausage was enough to add another texture and flavor to the yummy mix. * Steak and mushroom flatbread -- The crust was thin and crispy. Although a tad oily, it wasn't that bad. The steak was good and meshed well with the veggies. Perhaps they could have been more generous with the steak or have the meat cut into smaller pieces... But then again, some places overload unnecessarily. Finding this place sucked since the restaurant is located at the very most front strip in front of Kroger.
