Excellent service and good. Good size portions, enough food to share. Nice decor and a very nice outside area. It's a favourite!!

I really wanted to give this more stars, but the food was ok. The first thing was the menu could have had better selections to choose from and it was small, meaning not a lot to choose from. I felt that for it being an Italian restaurant, it should have more options to choose from especially pasta dishes. The only creamy pasta was the Tonnarelli Cacio E Pepe pasta dish. I was hoping for a fettuccine or maybe calms with linguine or a scampi to choose from so that was a little disappointing. I started with the Fritto Mista appetizer which was really good. The shrimp, calamari and veggies were fried well and it had a good mix of seafood and veggies. For my salad, I ordered the Insalda mista, the salad was ok. I didn't care for the roasted parsnips in it because it gave it a sweet taste and the dressing wasn't that flavorful. My pasta dish was the Tonnarelli Cacio E Pepe. It was good but a very rich sauce. Overall the food was mediocre for an Italian restaurant. Where are the classics? Soups, Veal Parmigiana, chicken parmigiana, lasagna, and tortellini. Also, there was a lot of focaccia bread going around, but no complimentary bread and butter was served. The pricing wasn't bad, but did feel that the salads were overpriced.

Osteria Mattone is a real standout from the many restaurants on Canton Street. The food is exquisite and their fresh bread is like manna from heaven. Easy check in with hostess who lead us to a high top table, as we did not have reservations. Service was quick and prompt. The Ambiance of the place is good, but looks like a converted house giving it an overall homey feel. We dined during restaurant week and took advantage of the fixed price $35 (2024 price) meal. This included Polpette (meatballs), Tagiloline Bolognese, and Caramellato desert. All were good with Tagiloline Bolognese being my favorite. Other choices are available. Large portion and had leftovers too. We also looked at the normal menu which was slightly more expensive but still reasonable for the value. Valet parking is available. Parking around here can be a hassle, but we parked at the large free lot off of Green Street, which is short stroll to Osteria Mattone. Also dined at their sister restaurant Table and Main, see separate review.

Went here with my family a while ago. Customer service was very welcoming and even offered us free complementary dessert due to a mistake on the menu. That was seriously the highlight of our day, after coming back from an exhausting trip and in need of some home food. Food was absolutely amazing. Definitely coming back.

Osteria Mattone has been one of those restaurants We've been wanting to try for a long time. Knowing that its owned by the family of Table & Main gave me high hopes that it was going to be great, and it was! After looking around, i noticed they were participating in Roswell Restaurant week, so perfect time to try it out. Service is impeccable; food is great as well. Some of the dishes we've had: - Insalata Romana -Arancini -Burrata D'Autunno -Funghi -Tonnarelli Cacio e Pepe -Tagliolini Bolognese -Agnoloti Di Oxo -Budino Caramellato -Morte de Cioccolato All were excellent and disappeared rather quickly, which is always a good thing. We will be back soon now that I see they have an Easter brunch special..

We came here Friday night for early valentine's dinner! It was a bit of a pain to find because all the businesses beside it look like houses so you'll have to wait until you're on top of it to see the sign. I think it's valet only and valet was complimentary, just tips. This place was great overall. It's not a big shop and they have a couple of dining rooms including a private dinner in their wine cellar which you can request but it is cold in there at 60F. The drinks we ordered were strong & subtle flavors. I forgot the name of mine but it was dark rum, ginger and pear - flavor was rum heavy with a hint of ginger & pear. Not something I'd normally order but it grew on me The tables are close together so you can definitely see everything everyone else is ordering I ordered the Bolognese and my husband got the gnocchi special from valentine's menu. His gnocchi was small in comparison to the Bolognese while I had way too much food to finish. I didn't snap a pic of his food but it was tasty! They provide complimentary focaccia bread for the table with olive oil to dip it in. We also got the arancini as an appetizer and really enjoyed it. Our food took quite awhile, maybe it was the gnocchi but everything was really good once it arrived so you may be in for a wait, depending what you order. We finished off with the valentines menu banana hazelnut dessert and it was delicious. I was full but we managed to finish this off! The banana ice cream was so light and subtley sweet and paired perfectly with the rich ganache on the cake. Very pretty presentation as well. Multiple people came to check on us during our meal and everyone was super friendly. This place is worth a visit!

    Tiramisu (MUST have!)

Italian is something I generally have to be in the mood for as it is not one of my favorite cuisines and usually even when I am in the mood for it, I end up disappointed. Fortunately, that was not the case at Osteria Mattone. I had this place bookmarked since we moved to Roswell a few months ago, so hubby and I recently decided to try it out for our date night. These are my findings based on that one experience: PROS: * Lovely ambiance. We sat inside because we thought it might rain, but I loved how the outside patio dining area looked. It is in front of the restaurant and has a romantic but classy vibe. As long as the weather cooperates, we will probably sit there on our next visit. The inside also has a classy and romantic feel to it. * Excellent food and drink. First, we enjoyed the complimentary focaccia bread, which was soft and delicious. We ordered a bottle of wine that was smooth and tasty. For food, we started with the Salumi E Formaggi, which was essentially a charcuterie board, and it did not disappoint. It had a nice assortment of fresh meats and cheeses along with some vegetables, crispy breadsticks, and bread. My husband also ordered the pea soup, which was served cold with a vibrant green color and a tasty cream on top. I am not a soup or pea fan, but I had a taste and it was very good, especially with the cream. We also ordered and shared a margherita pizza. The crust had the perfect amount of crisp to it. While it did not reheat well since I was missing that perfect crust next day, it was divine when eaten fresh. We finished our dinner date with a shared slice of tiramisu. I am rather picky when it comes to tiramisu and personally think my husband makes the best I've ever had, but the tiramisu from Osteria Mattone gave my husband's version some healthy competition. They had the genius idea to sprinkle it with coffee beans, which complemented the light, airy, and flavorful tiramisu beautifully. My taste buds approved of every single thing I tried here and this is not an easy feat, especially for Italian food. * Excellent service. I absolutely love a server who has mastered the art of being attentive and available without being intrusive. Our server (I believe her name was Lou but it escapes me now) was phenomenal. She struck the perfect balance of meeting our needs without hovering. She had a strong knowledge of the menu and made great recommendations when asked. Most importantly to me, she never had to be asked for a refill as she was attentive to the water level in our glasses and quickly slipped in and out to top them off. One of my biggest pet peeves is when I need a refill of whatever I am drinking and the server is nowhere to be found. The service was great and I hope we get the same server when we come again. CONS: * Parking problems. The biggest complaint about our experience at Osteria Mattone is the parking situation. Only valet was available at the restaurant itself and I hate using valet service, so we had to park a few blocks away and walk to the restaurant. If you don't mind valet, then I guess this is an okay option, but I don't like handing my car over to some random guy and generally refuse to use valet if I can avoid it, so it was annoying not really having any other option. * Price. This isn't a real con in my book because I understand you get what you pay for when it comes to consistent quality in taste and service. I don't mind paying a premium to dine at an establishment that makes me feel like I got my money's worth and Osteria Mattone certainly achieved that. However, it is a con in that our budget won't support us adding it to our weekly rotation of restaurants. We will definitely be back, but most likely more for special celebrations or the occasional date night splurge than our regular weekly outings. If you have not tried Osteria Mattone and are thinking about it, I would say to go for it since I am confident that you will enjoy it as much as we did. Don't skip the tiramisu!

I have been back to Osteria Mattone two more times, and our experience has been just as great as the first. We most recently were there for Roswell restaurant week, during what they offered three course meal for $35, and it was a great value and experience! I can't say enough how delicious the arancini is! The staff are always professional, and it always has a cozy environment.

I feel like it's tough to find good/delicious Italian restaurants these days, but luckily, I know of a few. One of my favorites is in my old stomping grounds of Roswell at @osteriamattone This isn't your everyday Italian joint as their menu, flavors, and yes, their price, separate them from other locations. I would call this an upscale Italian restaurant with many delicious favorites like their meatballs or ravioli, so this is a special occasion stop for me, and boy, does it deliver every time. As you could expect, their staff is nothing but 1st class, making you feel nice and special Roswell parking and I have never gotten along... I'm bitter that Alpharetta grew up and did all that they did to solve for parking while Roswell just did nothing in the past 15 years to remedy the situation BUT if you can find parking behind Osteria, great. I haven't stopped by during the NICE weather season, but the outside patio area always looks so nice. 5 stars all across in my humble opinion #rolieats #myfavoritefood #italianfood #roswell #osteria

We started with the pimento cheese dip and were both surprised to find that it was served hot along with several pieces of soft, warm bread. It was SO good and a nice change from the way that most other restaurants serve their pimento cheese. Even hubby loved it and he is usually not a fan of cheese. For my main, I ordered the grilled cheese sandwich with tomato soup. I am not exaggerating when I tell you that this is THE BEST MEAL I have had in a really long time. Total comfort food that hit all the right spots on this chilly afternoon. The cheese on the sandwich was just the right amount of ooey gooey and the tomato soup was perfection. I was tempted to lick the bowl when I got to the bottom, but that wouldn't be very dignified while dining out, so I did the next best thing by sopping up the residue with what was left of my sandwich. It was delicious and I will be back for more soon. Hubby ordered the grilled chicken sandwich and said it was the best chicken sandwich he has had. He is hard to please, so between the pimento and sandwich, 1920 achieved the improbable in impressing hubby. Service was impeccable. The main reason we had not come back in a while is because it is a small space and can feel pretty congested when it fills up, which is not the most comfortable. We don't like feeling crowded, but after today's visit, we decided that the limited space is a small price to pay for amazing food and service, so we will undoubtedly return soon. Perhaps we will try sitting outside instead when the weather cooperates. Big thanks to 1920 for starting our new year off on the right foot!
