We had a large group and we came for wine Wednesday. We were able to enjoy the lovely fall weather on the patio. I love our server- she was so attentive and took care of us! We ordered many bottles of wine and apps to share! All the wines we got was nice and even better at 50%! My favorite app is the burrata toast! But the Brussels, meatball sampler were all good. I got the Diavola pizza and love the firewood grill style with lovely chewy crust and just enough spice and cheese. Everything was fabulous! The parking is easy in the deck! Just make sure you pay and park on the second level- where the entrance to Grana is! I will be back for another wine Wednesday and happy hour!

We went on a fairly quiet Sunday evening with a reservation and were seated immediately on the rooftop patio. The patio is perfect for when the weather is more mild, but it is uncovered so likely not the best choice for a hot summer day. For an appetizer, we ordered the fried mozzarella ($15), which came quickly. This was good, not particularly a standout but consistent as far as fried mozzarella goes. My husband got the eggplant Parmesan ($18) and I got the paccheri genovese ($28), which is a pasta with short rib. It is not noted on the menu that the eggplant Parmesan does not include pasta, so I do think that should ideally be mentioned. For dessert we got the make your own cannoli, which is a fun idea and creates a memorable experience. We weren't blown away by the food but everything was consistently good, and I would love to return to try the meatballs and pizza next.

We had such a great dinner at Grana! We started with the meatball flight and calamari, and both were awesome. The portions were perfect for sharing with our group of five, and every meatball had its own flavor and personality, all of them were so good. We ordered two pizzas, the Figgy and the Diavola. Both had amazing flavor, but the Figgy totally surprised me, I didn't expect to like it as much as I did, and it ended up being my favorite of the night. For my entrée, I got the rigatoni, and honestly, it's one of the best pasta dishes I've ever had at a restaurant. Everything tasted super fresh and made with care. The only thing that stood out was how long it took for things to come out, it was pretty slow (over 50 minute wait) even though there weren't many tables (probably less than 5 tables seated), but once the food arrived, it was totally worth it. They do validate parking for up to two hours, you'll want to put in your parking once we get inside the restaurant, they'll have the code at the check in desk. The deck is super easy to get to and the restaurant is connected to it. Overall, the food was incredible, the vibe was relaxed, and I'll definitely be back to try more!

Birthday wishes from the Grana team!!

Last night we went to Grana for my Birthday with the recommendation from my daughter. Party of 10 inc. 4 kids - 5 and under. The welcome host Nick made sure my husband and I were escorted to the table where our little gang was all seated. Our server Tania was very efficient taking orders and making sure all of us had everything we needed. The special drink Sicilian martini was addicting! All the kiddies received their food first which was great to keep them happy. The adult dinners came out as they were ready so if you do not like that you better tell the waitstaff. (Mine was last ) Ok now for the food! Of course all the reviews include the meatballs! YES order them! I had the Ditalini seafood dish was very delicious flavor. All the dishes were getting rave reviews from our family. My son-in-law ordered the veal parmigiana - he could not finish it was so big. The gnocchi made with mozzarella- melted in your mouth! Charlie the manager was pleased that I thanked him for a great Birthday dinner!! His staff deserved some appreciation. Hats off to the chef! We will for sure be back.

The yurt was located on the restaurants patio, and was decorated for Christmas. There were lights and a wreath on the inside, as well as blankets in case it got chilly. There was a flap as the door that looked like it closed, but ever did because waiters were frequently entering. I thought that there would be multiple yurts, but we were the only one. From where I sat, I was in the direct line of vision of another guest outside of the yurt, eating on the patio, which was a little awkward. It was not as private as it seemed. We came for the 6pm time slot, and the guests who were there at 4pm were taking a while so we weren't sat until around 6:30pm. We got lucky with the weather and it wasn't cold, but I could see that being a point of concern very quickly. As previously mentioned, they do provide blankets. We started with the Charcuterie board, and it was exceptional. It says on the menu that it feeds two, but I think it could feed three if you're not starving. There was one cheese that was in a coating of what seemed to be nuts, and that was the star of the show. For the entree, I got the Cacio e Pepe with chicken. The pasta was creamy and very cheesy (!) and there was substantial amount of chicken. I got full about half way through, and took the rest to-go. Although there were some hiccups, this was an enjoyable, novelty dinner, and I would recommend.

Everything went well here, excellent food, exceptional service and great atmosphere. I definitely…read moreenjoyed it!

The atmosphere was nice, and the service was actually better from the trainee than from the woman who said she was training her. The food was just okay. My Grey Goose martini didn't taste like Grey Goose. It tasted like a different, cheaper vodka and went down very rough, even though Grey Goose is usually smooth. The drink was supposed to be sweet and fruity, but it didn't taste good at all. It had an odd, old taste to it. I ordered spaghetti and meatballs. It was just okay and didn't really stand out. I've been to Italian restaurants where the pasta tasted extremely fresh and the sauce tasted homemade. I love Italian food, but this spot just wasn't it. My husband didn't like his food either and didn't eat it. He told the waitress who was training that the sauce was a bit overwhelming for the dish. She didn't seem concerned. She told him she was sorry he didn't like it and walked away. She didn't ask if he would like to try something else or offer any other solution. The waitress who was doing the training was very short and acted as if she didn't care throughout most of our meal. We are not in a hurry to go back, especially after feeling like we wasted our time and money.

In addition, I didn't care for the ten layer lasagne as there was way too much dough and barely any sauce. More sauce would've helped some but still too much dough. I'd say five layers would provide a similar presentation as the slices do look lovely and the same can be achieved with less layering and more filling and sauce. I will eat in next time to get a better feel for the ambiance! And try something else! I have always loved Crust's menu so I'm sure I'll like more things here too.

Second, this might be the best Italian Hero I've had in recent memory. Great flavor, authentic ingredients and good balance. Nice job, Johan, and quick service as well. Lastly, Johns Creek doesn't have enough inexpensive quality places to eat. I mean, the list for, "how to spend at least $100 on dinner" is lengthy for this part of town.
