I received 4 bids from GCs for our project, and did as much research as I could leading up to the project, even going to other properties viewing the work of the other GCs I was bidding. I ended up selecting Dreamcatcher based on their extreme professionalism during the bid process, even though they weren't the cheapest to hire. For anyone who has done any level of construction in their home, having a team you can trust, who is honest, who shows up on time and doesn't give excuses far outweighs dollars saved in the budget. If I could give no star to this company I would. I had a horrible virtual consultation with a project manager there. To be honest, I felt uncomfortable right at the beginning of the meeting. He was unprofessional and did not say what his title was at the company, and I had to specially inquire. The consultation just got worse as it went on. His demeanor was condescending, and certainly not very customer service oriented, and unprofessional. The company may have the capability to design and build descent houses, but they know nothing about customers service or how to speak to potential customers (maybe they don't care because they already think so highly of themselves). He acted like they were the only design and build firm in town and called others merely "contractors". This company charges $1450 to come out to the house and take measurements after the initial virtual consultation, which was a joke frankly. The other design and build companies I interviewed for the kitchen remodel all came out to the house physically and took measurements, free of charge. They explained their processes, and were all courteous and understanding when I informed them that I was getting 3 bids for the job, because of the scale of the work involved. I can only comment on the virtual consultation I had with this particular project manager, but frankly I am appalled at the snooty attitude and the unprofessionalism and complete disregard to customer service demonstrated today. A company should pride themselves on customer service FIRST, before everything else! Plenty of companies can design and build houses, and it's the way they treat customers and react to inquiries that separate them from the rest. I seriously have NOT been this offended by a company for a long time...thank Goodness in a way because I dodged a bullet. Ewwww You have every right as a paying customer to ask as many questions as you need to, and get as many bids as you feel comfortable (within reason of course :) ) Do not let companies, like this one, take advantage of you, and make you feel like crap when you DO your due diligence in selecting quality, competent professionals to work on your house, one of the most important asset s and investment you hold in your life. These guys were truly a dream to work with! From the initial phone consultation to the completion of our kitchen remodel we felt that they were transparent and fully invested in our project. Despite 8 weeks of delays to get permits and a number of unreasonable requests from the city, the team at Dreamcatcher progressed work as much as they could during this time. Once the permits were granted and full construction started, Roye visited the house 2-3 times a week, giving us a peace of mind that the team on site knew exactly what needed to be done. Kelsey kept communication going with end of week updates so we always knew what to expect. Jay did a great job keeping the jobsite clean and was always lovely to chat to. Samples were brought over for the initial design and we had excellent selections to chose from, the team truly listened to what we had in mind. The team at Dreamcatcher even sent us a lovely gift basket when our baby was born (mid-construction!) and they were conscious on keeping the noise down when baby was sleeping. Working with the Dreamcatcher Remodeling team was a great experience. They were able to walk us through the entire process starting from very simple ideas that sure enough were translated beautifully to construction. They really are design, build which we found to be very helpful. The communication especially was smooth and since they communicate through a message board, someone was always there to answer questions the same day. Sometimes in a matter of minutes or hours. Things came up after they fully completed the work but they were quick to address them which to me just proves how honest, professional and accommodating they really are.
