We tried to remove our glued down hardwood floors, but it ended up being too difficult with the tools we had, so we searched Yelp for help and found pictures of Mr. Gomez Construction's crew removing glued down flooring so we requested a quote. We had an ugly section of wall that stuck out by our fridge and we had this company remove it - which also included replacing/repairing some of the LVP flooring. We've been meaning to write this review for a while now -- we hired Mr. Gomez around January to install new lighting fixtures in our kitchen and bathroom. I had reached out to several contractors and handymen, and Mr. Gomez stood out. He was the only one who was willing to stop by for an on-site consultation, which I appreciated. Pricing: We received several quotes, and while Mr. Gomez wasn't the lowest, his pricing was fair and reasonable in comparison. Based on his responsiveness, we decided to move forward with him -- and overall, we're happy. Workmanship & Cleanliness: Overall, we are happy with the results. His team kept the work areas covered throughout the process so dust did not get into other areas. The patching work, especially in comparison to previous contractors we've worked with, was well done. That said, the patch in the upstairs bathroom didn't come out quite as smooth as we had hoped -- there's visible unevenness, which his team explained was due to the ceiling not being level, but I think there could be a fix? During the project, we also asked him to help replace a few other light fixtures with new LED ones. We purchased the fixtures ourselves, and his team installed them without issue. We hired Mr Gomez Construction in August for 2 bathroom remodels. We had reached out to about 7 different contractors after our first contractor dropped out last minute. The company that we got our cabinets from referred us to Mr Gomez. We spoke with Isaias and appreciated his promptness in response, timeliness, and cost. Isaias quoted us 2 weeks per bathroom, which was music to our ears at the time. I am rating the company a 4 because overall, we were happy with the quality of work and after 2 months, everything is holding up. We had some issues throughout the process, which is why I cannot give it a 5. Overall, we were happy with the work but wish things went a little more smoothly. Pricing: Pricing was fair in comparison to other quotes we received, it fell on the more affordable side, considering they are licensed. As most construction goes, my husband and I were prepared for instances when there would be additional costs. Luckily, we didn't run into AS many as we anticipated. On occasion, we did feel like the extra charges were not adequate, and after long discussions, Isaias waived most of them thankfully. Timing: The first few days of construction went smoothly, the contractors showed up on time as mentioned on Yelp. However, as construction went on, days were missed, and the bathrooms ended up taking 2 full months to complete compared to the 1 month we were promised. This was very frustrating for us as we did not anticipate this taking 2x the time quoted. Things dont always go as planned, however, the length of time it was extended was unacceptable. Communication: My husband and I are very adamant about communication via text, especially considering that we work from home. Isaias was great with communication in the beginning but as the project extended, it became harder and harder to reach him. Better expectations could have been set to let us know when workers would show up at our house. Some days, no one would show up and we would be waiting. At the end of each day, we had to text Isaias ourselves to understand what would happen the next day. Towards the end of the project, it felt like we were "bothering" him and it felt very uncomfortable for us to constantly check when the project would wrap up. Communication with the contractors, however was great. They were fairly communicative and would check in with us throughout the day. My husband and I are both designers and can be particular about how the work was completed, so I am VERY appreciative that most of them checked in with us. Fidel, who did a majority of the work was a delight. If we ran into issues, he would help us fix the issue with a smile on his face and he worked so quickly. Cleanliness: Tarp and butcher paper were laid out on the first day of demo and Fidel helped us touch up areas of the house that were damaged after all the work. My one gripe was that over the 2 months, the workers to use our powder room downstairs and left it very dirty on several occasions with toilets un-flushed. Workmanship: Overall, as mentioned, we are happy with the results. I waited to post this review after a few months to ensure the work held up. The designs were executed as we had imagined and we are happy with the final product. As mentioned above, my husband and I are designers and are likely more particular than most customers they've had to deal with.
