When we decided to do a kitchen remodel the first chore was to find a contractor. By luck we have a friend who had recently done his master bath and recommended Five Diamonds to us. Jesse answered my call and came over to discuss our kitchen remodel right away. He put together a quote and made sure to come back in person to discuss it. We agreed and they started demo right away. I always felt the communication was great and he always responded in a timely manner. Jesse is very open to new ideas and offers his opinions to make the best design possible. We interviewed a few contractors, but really liked Jesse, so we decided to go with Five Diamonds. At first we were just remodeling the kitchen....then we added ALL the bathrooms, new flooring, painting, etc. We thought Jesse gave a very fair price and rolled with all or our "add ons". Words can not express how happy I am with how everything turned out with my first floor remodel in my small condo. I have no eye for design so I absolutely needed someone else's vision who would listen to what I like, for example colors, and then take that and run with that to create something wonderful. The first time I met Jesse I liked him immediately. You don't get a sales spiel just like others reviewers have said. He's honest and will tell you if he likes or doesn't like your choices. I did depend on him a lot on the choices of materials and the man has a good eye and very good taste I must say. I had heard that something inevitably goes wrong with remodels and in my case that was true. His crew were well on their way with the recessed lighting and had to stop because I had a leak in my powder room. Jesse recommended a repipe instead of just a patch up job. I knew the builders used very cheap copper pipes with our units and I've had multiple leaks through out the 20+ years so much so I didn't bother patching up the drywall. I listened to Jesse and I'm so glad I did. It was money that was not in my budget but having the peace of mind is so worth it. So his crew had to start cutting holes in the new drywall. The repipe was done in one day! They did such a good job and were very considerate, always made sure they didn't make too much of a mess. Jesse's crew is awesome and very hard working. Elder was the main subcontractor who did most of the work and was always very courteous to me. His team always made sure to clean up what they could on a daily basis and that wasn't easy. He did such a good job on the recessed lighting and I love the dimmers! He did a good job with everything! I plan to hire them again when I redo the second floor bathrooms. We used Jesse and his team as our lead contractor on a garage remodel job - and they completely exceeded our expectations. Jesse was able to take what was a fairly basic idea and provide design recommendations that completely elevated our home. He strongly advised we should consider building partial wall to separate the 3rd car spot and finish that side completely, allowing us to have a beautiful fully finished "room" on the 3rd car side, complete with laundry, a 5 cubby mudroom, designer tool bench, additional desk space, sink and endless storage with shaker cabinets. The 2 car side ended up as a clean and functional "traditional" garage with new epoxy flooring, space for a fridge and floor to ceiling custom deep cabinetry for additional storage. This design recommendations from Jesse have drastically improved the functional living space in our home. We have three young kids, so having a beautiful space to clean and fold our laundry, store all their stuff in the mudroom cubbies, use the desk space for art/work etc. has been life changing. In addition to the strong design sense and recommendations, Jesse's team is fast, efficient and professional. They followed all COVID guidelines during the duration of the project and were always on-time and ahead of schedule. My wife and I purchased our dream home last year. It is nearly 3000 sq ft, in our ideal neighborhood in Orange County, and on a 10000 sq ft lot. The only problem was that it looked like it was last renovated in the 80's. I'm not exaggerating when I say that I've interviewed over a dozen contractors to remodel the entirety of our home. Most of them came off as either sleazy or were just ridiculously overpriced. I get that home remodeling is pricey but some of the quotes I received were out of control. When I met the owner Jesse, he was a breath of fresh air. He felt like I was talking to an old friend from college and he really took the time to thoroughly go over what I wanted to have done in my home. This may be a bit of a lengthy review, but best with me, I am going to try to be as detailed as possible. I found Jesse on Yelp, he called and was at the house within a couple of days for a consultation. First impression, on time, knowledgeable, respectful and friendly. On that first day, I mentioned that I had multiple contractors coming to give me their opinions and prices, but I would keep him in the loop, and I would give him the last opportunity to take the job after. Our job seemed super complicated and I have PTSD from contractors due to a kitchen remodel that took 2 months over time and way over budget due to change orders. I explained to Jesse my hesitations, he assured me no change orders and he will be under budget and under said time because we had to move out for our project. I had other consultations, some prices higher, some prices lower, some with great personalities, some as dry as sand paper. I wanted to let someone into my house that I could trust and someone i could have a meal and a drink with. I called Jesse, showed him a quote that I got that was similar then his and I asked him if he would work with me to Make the price comparable, not less but definitely not more. I ended up giving Jesse the job, still scared to start. We ended up doing our bathrooms and adding a bedroom where a loft was. He came in with a design that worked and a budget that did as well. I told him that I would have all materials ready for him, and I did, and we signed up. What a great decision, the bedroom was done in 10 days, there were days with 9 people at my house working, they worked through the 4th of July to get me back home. We chose Five Diamonds for our home remodel after interviewing around 7-8 GCs. Jesse had some good design ideas during the initial conversation that we ended up incorporating in our plans and we liked the fact that they were a leaner operation (no front desk, no office staff, etc.) than some other groups we interviewed which translated into cost savings on our end. I have several reasons not to give 5 starts as the projects hit some bumps and got delayed significantly causing us a lot of stress. However, considering this review is for potential customers for future projects, I recommend Five Diamonds and Jesse with confidence because Jesse took the full responsibility for the error and got everything done to our satisfaction. In addition, I believe he wouldn't make the same mistake after having gone through the nightmare. Before having decided to hire Jesse, my wife and I met with 4 different GCs. It was an interesting experience, so I would like to share the interview process. Two of the GCs were very similar. They showed up with fancy attach cases. We explained what we wanted to do, and they kept talking and asking questions. Then, they sat down at our dining table and started listing the items that would need to be done with a pen and paper. They stayed for over two hours and gave us handwritten quotes in the end. I don't even remember what the quotes look like, but my wife and I were exhausted by the time, and we were like "there is no way we can deal with these guys for the next few months...." Other two stayed for a short period of time. It took them more than a week to give us quotes, so I could tell they were not interested in our projects. Jesse didn't stay that long when he visited our house for the first time, so I didn't think he was interested. However, he gave me a quote right after the meeting, which was pretty straight forward. I told him that I was thinking about hiring Jesse but needed a few more days as I was still meeting other GCs. After a few days, when I told Jesse that I wanted to hire him, Jesse already had the design written-up on his computer. I was happy to see that he was eager to take on our project. You will communicate and spend a lot of time with the GCs until the project is done, so I suggest that you hire someone whom you feel most comfortable with. We just finished remodeling our much used downstairs full bathroom. We interviewed numerous General Contractors and decided to go with Five Diamond. Jessie, who does the bids and project management, and Oscar, who is the hands on guy are great. In our meeting with contractors, we noticed their inclination to do things only their way. Some were insistent we use their cabinets and shower doors. Others were insistent on 1/4" grout for the floor tile. Jessie was willing to work with us and we didn't get that same feeling from the other contractors. This proved to be true. Our bathroom exceeded my wildest dreams. The work done by the tile guys is gorgeous. Oscar is a perfectionist and everything from the plumbing to the painting was done with attention to detail. We couldn't be more pleased. We wanted to add a couple of extra projects to the job and are happy with the results. We will definitely use Five Diamond for our next bathroom remodel. Jesse and his crew (Hi Oscar) turned our small master bathroom with a standard cookie cutter layout into our own personal spa. It's glorious.
