Almas and her team are the BEST! I bought my first condo and i had a vision that i wanted, the place needed a total renovation from top to bottom needed to be gutted. I talked to some contractors and came up with some idea and felt absolutely lost in the process and was ready to just settle for something "run of the mill" standard style. Then my friend recommended Almas, she came over and we met and right away i knew she "understood" my vision...she then set an appt with my contractor to meet him and discuss...i wasn't excited about using this contractor then found out that Almas could actually handle the job from A to Z, design, contractor, everything...we knocked down walls, redid bathrooms, the kitchen, the floors, everything you can think of & working with Almas made it such a simple seamless process. 3 months later i was all moved in to my dream spot after a complete reonovation, anyone that comes over are just stunned at the level of design and quality of the work.. Do yourself a favor and just sign up with Makkan Design, Almas and her team know how to make your style come through- Not only did i meet an excellent designer but also made a great friend! We had a leak in our kitchen and so had we decided to redo the kitchen and redesign our living room. Almas came to the house and asked us what exactly what we wanted to do. Honestly, we really didn't know. We had some general ideas but as we've never done a redesign of anything inside the house before we really didn't know. If you're in a similar situation, I HIGHLY recommend you contact Makkan design to get ALL the information you'll need. They were very professional and will help you through the entire process from design to completion. Every step of the way was explained thoroughly and professionally. Once we had a solid blue-print of what we wanted to do, they continued to be completely engaged and open to our fluid inputs and even to changes during the construction. If you ask them to source lighting, tables, chairs, etc, they will give you excellent options and even trials to make sure it fits the decor and what fits for our family. I cannot recommend them enough. If you are thinking of redesigning your kitchen or living room, contact them and you won't regret it. Below are some pics of before and after of our kitchen and living room. read more

Your search is officially over! After asking all of our neighbors and friends for recommendations for a good general contractor, it seemed like most people did not want to endorse their contractors because they did not either meet their expectations, did not complete on time, or the end result did not look like anything they envisioned. However, one of our friends gave us a glowing recommendation for Makkan Design. We immediately reached out to Makkan Design and scheduled an appointment at our home. When Almas came to our home, she did a very thorough tour of our kitchen space and asked a lot of questions to understand our needs. We still did our due diligence and met with a few more general contractors, but ultimately Almas blew us away. Once the contract was signed, Makkan Design invited us to visit their office to present their design concepts and it was nothing short of spectacular. We were presented with three different kitchen concepts. The design we fell in love with was not only beautiful, but it completely changed the layout of the home. Throughout the remodel process, communication was easy and seamless. Our kitchen remodel was on budget and finished on time. If anything was not up to our satisfaction, the Makkan team addressed it and held everyone accountable. We actually have our dream kitchen and we have the whole Makkan team to thank. read more

This review is long overdue. We hired Almas and her team last year to help renovate our kitchen and living room. We had some ideas about what we wanted (the type of quartz countertops, backsplash, forest green island, wine fridge), and Almas was able to incorporate all of it while enhancing it with her own vision (statement lights, floating shelves, new kitchen hood, wallpaper, living room accent wall). Some highlights: - Almas and her team were patient and helpful with presenting options when we were deciding which materials to use - Almas works closely with talented contractors who are very professional and deliver high quality work (countertops, painters, electricians) - Almas is great at project management and quickly addressed any questions/concerns (very responsive) Overall we are very happy with how everything turned out and would definitely recommend Almas. read more

When starting a remodel we weren't sure if we wanted a designer or not. After Almas came to our house we realized that hiring her would be a good idea. She was the second designer we met with on top of two or three contractors that we didn't like. She came with ideas and presented us with three different layouts before we even hired her. The other designer we looked at that was actually cheaper did not do this. They wanted to get paid before showing us any work or giving us any ideas. That was what sealed it for us. Almas and Makkan came prepared. She hired a great contractor who worked with all of us to make our house a dream house. During construction she was with us all the way. She helped us settle a few minor disputes with the contractor which saved us money and headaches. She made decor decisions for us that we wouldn't have thought of which made our house look better. She answered questions weekends and weeknights via text/email which helped us out a lot. Her fee was well worth it in the end just by the amount of questions and ideas we bounced off her. We must have gone back and forth for eight months before starting our remodel and changed our layout a dozen times. When all was said and done with her help we got the perfect layout and the perfect house. read more

Pros: Responsive to texts, creates clean modern designs Cons: None that I can think of Almas helped us with the design for a remodel for the first floor of our house. This included a living room, dining room, kitchen, and powder room. My wife and I are very "hands off" people so we gave her a very high level idea of what we wanted and she was able to take that and create a very bright and modern design. She did a great job of sourcing materials and working directly with our contractor. She found the right flooring, countertops, lighting, etc. She was always available for questions or feedback and that was greatly appreciated. Overall, it was a great experience working with Almas and would highly recommend her for those looking to give their house an updated look. read more

Almas helped us with our home renovation on an older home with floor plan as well as helping us choose some finishes for kitchen and bath. She was instrumental in helping us think outside the box and have us move the old kitchen closer to the backyard for natural flow of living inside and out. She helped us choose kitchen fixtures and lights and coordinated cabinets in addition to several other design tips throughout the home. Almas is a patient and helpful designer who will work with you in getting your vision right. Highly recommend Makkan Design! read more

I am so glad I found Almas with Makkan Design for my remodel project! She was a pleasure to work with and had real ownership of all the design elements of my project. Early on in the project I tried to navigate some wholesalers and warehouses by myself and it was just overwhelming! Once we starting meeting with Almas she helped focus those visits and make them really productive. If there was some design element I didn't have a direction on Almas found the right product that just spoke to me. She helped me make bold choices that I fell in love with. My house feels like me, but like the coolest version of myself designed it! My house is truly amazing thanks to Almas! read more

We worked with Almas to help us out with our recent home remodel. We were so overwhelmed with all of the choices out there and had no idea where to start - I'm so glad that Almas was there to help us! From our very first meeting with her and finding out that we got married at the same venue, I knew that our styles meshed well and that we were in great hands. Almas pretty much picked out every single piece of flooring, tile, stone, carpet, light fixture, door knob, you name it...and we loved every single choice that she made for us! we had given her a general idea for the look we wanted, but she just took that above and beyond anything that we could have imagined! Almas was always very considerate of our budget and would always give us a few different options for something at different price points and left it to us to make the choice. Almas coordinated all the shipping, delivery, installation and everything with the vendors and our contractors so we didnt have to do anything at all and she's always super responsive in email/text communications - that was truly appreciated and saved us so many headaches im sure! thank you for helping us with our home. we get compliments everytime that we have guests :) read more
