I was looking for a company that would consider a smaller cabinet project and was so lucky to find Pelican! They were more than happy to work with me on turning a big boring linen closet into a beautiful, functional space with drawers and even a small coat closet! I had some ideas of my own but they sent out a designer who not only listened to my ideas but had several suggestions that I hadn't even considered! I enjoyed visiting their beautiful showroom where I was able to see and select materials and fixtures. The project was professionally managed from start to finish, clear communication at every stage and the work was meticulous. On the 1st day of install, one crew dropped off the materials, another handled installation and when they tore out the old fixtures, another team showed up to haul away the debris! Very impressive! Unlike some other remodeling projects, this one was actually FUN! I enjoyed every minute of it and would like to thank the entire Pelican team (Jack, Karina,Chris, Marciano and others who I did not get the names of) for their enthusiasm and great work! read more

We put our kitchen remodel off for years, dreading the time, headache, and expense. When we finally started interviewing potential contractors in December 2025, Pelican was our first meeting. We were very impressed with Jack and the initial meeting but wanted to be thorough. We had meetings with 6 other companies throughout Orange County. After each meeting, we kept coming back to Pelican because of the fact that they manufactured their own cabinets and the impressive quality of those cabinets. Eventually we chose to sign with Pelican and now that the project is over, we undoubtedly chose correctly. During the design phase, Jack was extremely helpful and had great suggestions on how to refine our design to fit the needs of our space while also being happy to incorporate our ideas. Once construction started, our Project Manager Chris took over and ran everything perfectly. His constant communication and attention to detail trickled down to the construction team. There is no doubt the project was a success largely because of Chris. The various construction team throughout the project were all extremely nice, clean, and considerate. Our primary cabinet installer Mauricio deserves a special call out. His installation and carpentry was perfect. The countertop fabricator, Jose, was also incredible. Overall we could not be more thrilled and can say the project turned out perfect. We would be happy to work with them again on other projects. read more

The heart of my remodel wasn't about gutting everything and starting from scratch--it was about refinement. I already had a solid foundation: rich black granite countertops that had stood the test of time. They were classic, durable, and full of character. I didn't want to lose that. Instead, I wanted to elevate everything around them--to let the countertops become the elegant anchor of a brighter, more inviting space. That vision came to life thanks to Pelican Cabinets and Remodeling. From the first consultation with Jack, Carina, & Chris, they understood exactly what I wanted: to preserve what worked while refreshing the kitchen's soul. Their design team didn't try to upsell or steer me toward a complete overhaul. They listened. They looked at the granite and said, "This is beautiful. Let's build on it." And that's precisely what they did. The new sand-colored shaker cabinets are stunning--featuring clean lines, soft edges, and craftsmanship you can feel. Their warm tones soften the bold granite below, creating a perfect visual balance between light and dark. Every door and drawer glides smoothly, and the custom details--trim, spacing, finish--reflect the pride Pelican clearly takes in their work. Then came the white stacked-glass backsplash, a choice that transformed the room from ordinary to luminous. During the day, sunlight dances across the glass, giving the space an airy sparkle. At night, the under-cabinet lighting makes the backsplash glow like calm water beneath moonlight. Against the black granite, the effect is nothing short of breathtaking. Looking back, what impresses me most is how Pelican's team respected both my vision and my budget. They didn't just remodel a kitchen--they curated it, blending old and new with a designer's eye and a craftsman's care. Now, every time I walk in, I feel it: warmth, balance, and gratitude. Keeping the granite was the right call, and partnering with Pelican was the best decision of all. read more

I first used Pelican back in early 2024 to do a remodel/renovation of the kitchen and all bathrooms in my condominium in Newport Beach. Craig T. was our project manager. Craig T. is extremely personable and professional. I felt assured knowing that my project was going to be handled right with Craig T. at the helm. This year, I was finally ready to tackle the living room. Based on our positive experience with Pelican in 2024, we decided to use them again. It also made sense because then the cabinets in the living room would match with the cabinets in the kitchen and the bathrooms. Jack was our project designer who got us underway. Josh was the project manager for the first portion of the project and then Bobby was our project manager for the remainder of the project. Ryan W. also jumped in to assist. All of the employees/workers were extremely professional and personable - the demo team, drywall team, electricians, tile, and cabinet installers. Special shout-out to Bobby for going the extra mile to make sure that everything came together in the end. Always appreciated Bobby's efforts to maintain good communication about project expectations and doing site visits regularly to make sure all questions and concerns were addressed. I'm running out of rooms to remodel or improve, but if I were to want to do more renovations, Pelican would be my first call. read more

I had interviewed quite a few different companies while searching for our kitchen remodel. It wasn't until I got a response call from Pelican Design that my search was over. Dean their designer listened to all of my original thoughts and desires and went to work creating a mock up of it on his computer. Then, much to my surprise, he offered to create for me what he thought would be best for my large space. Within 45 min he had masterfully transformed my kitchen in a huge way, into a chef's dream with the cost difference being shockingly minimally different. We signed right then and there. Carina came in next and measured and designed the cabinetry inside and out and shared suggestions based on her expertise. From there began the 3 month process of demo and construction. The entire team of experts came in and worked together to engineer and plan out the project An incredible 26' support beam had to be maneuvered into the space and lifted into the ceiling, the construction team was very impressive with their knowledge of precise measurements . My project manager Chris was beyond professional and accommodating , and kept us in the loop everyday as to what was going to be done. If you're familiar with construction, you know that having a hands on and easy to talk to project manager is paramount to a successful working relationship. He made me feel not only that our home was in the best hands but he also made himself available anytime I had a question. It's obvious that he truly enjoys his job and he is a huge asset to Pelican Deign. The subcontractors were polite and very knowledgeable as to their particular craft. Sure there were hiccups along the way but Chris my PM and Ryan the VP were immediately on top of it all and made sure to keep the job going. By the end of the project I had grown to really like all of the people who were working so hard to transform my home, even my dog would greet them as they came through the door every morning. My project is finished and it is spectacular. A visiting chef friend said that it was 'expertly designed.' Was there issues along the way? yes, it happens, but the immediate problem solving and communication with all of the team made getting through them easy. I very highly recommend this company if you are looking to have a professional design team and a knowledgeable project manager who is coordinating all of the work for you and in constant communication with them and you, then Pelican Design is WELL worth calling and letting them design a project for you. read more

I'm writing to share my overwhelmingly positive experience with Guilin Cabinets. Our recent kitchen remodel, thanks to them, has completely transformed our home. It's more than just new cabinets; it's a testament to their exceptional craftsmanship and commitment to customer satisfaction. From the very first consultation with Dean and our project manager, Andrew, the design process was a collaborative and enjoyable experience. They possessed an uncanny ability to understand our vision, offering insightful suggestions that elevated our design beyond what we initially imagined. Their patience and willingness to answer our countless questions (we admit, we had many!) were invaluable. They truly listened, making us feel heard and understood throughout the entire process. Beyond the design, the quality of the cabinets themselves is superb. The meticulous attention to detail is evident in every aspect, from the flawless finish to the robust construction. The materials are clearly premium, promising years of durability and beauty. These are not just cabinets; they are a long-term investment that has already significantly enhanced our enjoyment of our home. The installation team was equally impressive. Their professionalism, efficiency, and respect for our property were remarkable. The entire installation was completed with minimal disruption to our daily lives, and the workspace was left spotless - a detail we truly appreciated. In short, our experience with Guilin Cabinets surpassed all expectations. The combination of exceptional design, superior craftsmanship, and outstanding customer service made this project a truly delightful one. Not sure where to start but I will just say that our kitchen remodel with Pelican Cabinets was absolutely seamless!! We've had other remodels of kitchens and bathrooms and we always seemed to end up with not great contractors. So although we liked our first meeting with Jack we wanted to hear from other companies! We kept coming back to Jack and everything he said about the company and how they work and we are so glad we went with them. Every contractor that came in from the measuring team to plumbers/electricians, cabinet installer and our favorite do everything guy Saeed were excellent at what they did. Chris, Josh and team kept us informed every day as to what was coming up, and kept extremely close to the schedule we were given. The 10 year warranty on cabinets is an extra bonus that most companies don't offer. We love our kitchen and highly recommend Pelican/Guillen Cabinets. read more

Our 5 star rating is based on our project being extremely well-managed by Chris. We'd like to thank the entire skilled team who successfully and beautifully completed our home. Chris was great in communicating with us about what would be happening each day and keeping the project moving along. Kevin kept us apprised as to when our teams were coming. Our knowledgeable designer, Dean, was amazing as was Carina in guiding us through our plans from the onset. Our project included remodeling our 40 year old kitchen, master, guest and powder bathrooms, 2 fireplaces, and installing new flooring downstairs and in the stairwell. Edgar, Mauricio, Antonio and Fidel were outstanding workers as were the many other craftsmen who worked on our beautiful subway tiles in the bathrooms, and built travertine fireplaces. Jose meticulously installed our quartz countertops on all of our cabinets and in the greenhouse window. We won't miss the construction dust, but we'll miss the team of friendly workers. We hired Guilin Cabinets to re-do our pantry. This was a project we considered for a long time - 4 years in fact - and had kept their proposed design for when we were finally ready. I've been looking for a kitchen remodel and had a consultation with several companies. I came across with Dean from Guilin and he gave me a reasonable quote. He's very straight to the point (which I like) and drew me a suggested outline of the kitchen. After researching about their company and works, my husband and I decided to get their service. I went to their office and finalize the details. Dean showed me the different options for countertops (they have tons) and very patient with me since I had hard time choosing the perfect one. After that, we sorted out the payment options and the process began. It took a while for the project to finish (about 5weeks) but it didn't disappoint. I had Andrew and Bobby as project managers. Most of the time Bobby was the one who is hands on with the project and Im thankful for him for being responsive with my requests and other details. Whenever I message him he will reply right away. There's some delays with the schedule and delivery but everything has been sorted out. Shout out also to Mauricio for installing all the cabinets perfectly and neatly. I liked it that he always keep the place clean and organized after he finishes his job for the day. I also loved the Lighting upgrade and the guy did a very good job . There's so many people who did the remodel and I can't remember all their names.. But I highly recommend this company for the good service and quality of their products. read more

I decided to go with Guilin Cabinets, after reading reviews, to reface my cabinets and replace my kitchen & bathroom countertops. I met with Jack who was extremely helpful in laying out how the project would proceed and providing advice on some of the particulars. He also assisted in getting paperwork I needed for my HOA. The installation of both the cabinets and countertops met my expectations. The quality of the cabinets and drawers were high. The quartz countertops look great and everything looks professionally installed. The only hiccup I had was the kitchen walls being a little scuffed up bringing in the countertop piece to my small condo. But Chris, who was coordinating with me on the countertop install, had a drywall guy come out to fix up those areas to my satisfaction. Overall, very pleased the quality and customer service. This is a long overdue review of Guilin Cabinets who remodeled our home several months ago. We were referred to Guilin by Erik McLain, a neighbor here in San Clemente. Erik had a contractor do his remodel who selected Guilin Cabinets for their quality construction, ten year warranty and competitive price. Based on Erik's recommendation , we made an appointment at Guilin's showroom in Irvine. Scheduling with Vivian was easy and next thing we knew Dean was at our house designing our dream kitchen. During that process Dean told us Guilin was not only a cabinet installer but that they could handle our complete remodel which included new floors, kitchen cabinets, quarts countertops, new appliances and custom island, arched door and entry ways, baseboards and door casings, new cabinets with floating shelves in our living room, a new fireplace with mantel, new staircase, laundry room countertop and master bath including new vanity, freestanding tub and custom designed shower. Execution of the work was just a flawless as Dean's design for the kitchen. Andrew and Craig were our project managers assisted by Bobby and Chris with Amador, Fidel, Hu, James, Edgar, Diego, Ozzy, Jeremy, Mauricio and Glen as the skilled tradesmen doing the work. The best part of the process for us was the Guilin team's ability to take inspo pics we found on the internet and bring them to life. In the end, everything was delivered as promised including our beautiful glass cabinets, six seat kitchen island, custom designed shower and custom designed dog crate for our two boxers Zowie and Brutus in less time than similar projects completed by our neighbors. Congratulation so the Guilin team on another great project. We are so grateful. Newt & Tonya Kellam read more

I would strongly advise caution when dealing with this company. They convinced me that the product was 100% Thermofoil, but what I received is nothing more than cheap wood with a thin layer of Thermofoil taped around the cabinets. This is the same product you can find at stores like Lowe's or Home Depot at a fraction of the price. I was charged an excessive amount for a product that doesn't live up to the claims, and I feel misled. You can find identical products elsewhere at a much more reasonable cost. I started my kitchen remodel process two years ago! And decided it was too overwhelming with all the choices out there, design styles, the different quotes, etc. Until october when my refrigerator broke down and I wanted all panel ready appliances. I interviewed over 15 contractors/cabinet specialists and when I sat down with Guilin, I felt I found the perfect match. Jack Yarborough from Guilin was patient, responsive, listened and understood my vision. There was an entire team that made this whole process painless and pleasant. Carina saw my vision and made every effort to make it perfect. Chris was there to make sure I knew the schedule and what was happening during the entire project. He was prompt and attentive. Josh Bloomquist was always cheerful and made sure all my concerns were addressed. And of course, none of this would be possible if it wasn't for James incredible craftsmanship! His cabinetry skills and attention to details was masterful! James work is precise and crafted with excellent detail. The lines, the spacing, the exactness was exactly what I was looking for. My vision was to created a minimalist, organic, clean European kitchen with all push to open cabinetry and hidden appliances and this was executed perfectly! I can't say enough about Guilin and would definitely recommend them for anyone who is looking for beautiful, caring craftsmanship. Thank you guys. I am beyond happy with my kitchen. As the son of a GC and someone who has purchased, designed and installed kitchens--and price conscientious to boot--I'll say that paying someone else to do my kitchen was not a decision I arrived at easily or quickly. That said, I knew I wanted better than the cheap (and very affordable) Chinese RTA kitchen cabinets I normally dealt with. Enter Guilin. Local to LA, showroom that isn't in a dirty/dusty warehouse, and quick communication? Good start. My favorite thing about this experience was the communication. I hit a couple snags during the process (because I'm OCD and also one of those too-involved type clients), but Guilin was quick to respond and fix things. I mean, on a holiday weekend I had one of the top guys at the company pay us a visit to check out the issue we were having. He evaluated the problem and offered a good solution with a short turnaround. Marven, our installer was great. Patient, friendly, and communicative. In construction it's always difficult to get a rapport going because guys are just trying to rush through their work and get to the next job, but not only were questions answered, but creative solutions were offered that went beyond what is typical of a kitchen install. As for follow through and warranty--we just noticed a small piece of damage on one of the cabinets (we just moved in finally), and they are offering to replace the item and install it without question. I know I know--they should do that anyway right??? But let's be real, this isn't often the case. All this to say, we are happy to recommend these guys--we being my wife and I, because she's the real boss and she also recommends them read more

Kitchen remodels.... why do they evoke such emotion? Theres a lot of fear at the cost, and expectations of what the end result is going to look like. Will it meet expectations? Will the contractor deliver? We felt the same. We looked and looked for a good cabinetmaker. I'm a yelper, so did the research. We had a few misses with those that promised, but failed; too expensive or just couldn't respond in a timely manner. Then we found Guilin. Wow. Not only did they have great quality, which was evident in their showroom, but their responsiveness beat everyone else. We found them competitive on price and importantly, as we were on a tight timeline, they assured us a quick install timeframe. We signed with them, refined the plans some more and waited to see what would happen. To say they exceeded our expectations is an understatement. We got a call from them while we were traveling in Europe to say they were running early and could have someone out to install the cabinets a week earlier than planned! Wow! Was a wonderful surprise to come home and find the kitchen mostly installed! And James was amazing. This one guy installed the whole thing, and it wasn't a small kitchen! Since then we've had the counters and appliances installed and we couldn't be happier. Sure, there were a few tiny things, adjustments etc that needed sorting out - there always is - but they sent someone out to fix them up quickly and we have a very modern new kitchen that we love! Outstanding work, team! You made a stressful event, seem so easy. We're just blown away with the quality and attention to detail. Thankyou Christian, Brian, James, the designers and everyone who made this a delight...and our kitchen the best! Thankyou! read more

Pelican Cabinets & Remodeling - Mostly finished, backsplash to get tiled and waiting on the freezer but looking pretty great! - Cabinetry Near Me - Irvine, California

Started with high hopes but they didn't last very long. Was initially encouraged with the apparent quality of their cabinets and their strong warranty, but the shine wore off quickly. There were many issues with working with Guilin but I will touch only on the highlights. First, they presented a highly front-loaded payment schedule that was in violation of the California Contractors State License Board Business and Professions Code. I was however able to replace it with a more appropriate payment schedule for the signed contract. Then, on the day of the measurement visit, they notified me of a change in warranty terms, even though the contract was already signed at that point. I reluctantly agreed to this one, but later they tried to make another change to the warranty terms, which I told them I would not agree to. Meanwhile it took three revisions of the plan drawings to accurately reflect the detailed design that I had provided to them at the very start. I had to spend considerable time reviewing the drawings and correcting their errors and omissions. After the third revision I asked for a small design change. At that point they falsely attributed all the drawing revisions to going back and forth on design changes I had requested. When I proved to them that they were due to their own errors and not to any design changes, they accepted no responsibility whatsoever for the revisions, and just responded that I wasn't very happy with their work and wanted to cancel the contract, which I gladly allowed them to do. There were many other issues that I haven't gotten into here. For example, once the drawings were finally accurate, I asked for their designer to tell me how much backsplash tile I needed. They responded that the designer doesn't provide tile measurements, only cabinet measurements. So, if you are thinking of having anything to do with Guilin, my warnings are: * Watch out for their inappropriate payment schedule * Watch out for changes to contract terms after the contract has been signed * You will have to spend a lot of time checking their design drawings for errors, because catching errors later down the road would be extremely painful. * You will need infinite patience communicating with their sales personnel. I suggest paying attention to previous reviewers' comments about this, they are unfortunately true. I actually had to request a change in point-of-contact midway through the design phase due to the frustrating nature of their communication. * Lastly, do not expect a professionally run organization and do not expect any degree of customer service - customer satisfaction is definitely nowhere near the top of their priority list. read more
