My husband and I were in Orange County this past weekend and on a whim I told my husband I wanted to go to IKEA to get some ideas for shelving in our guestroom. What I love about this store is that it has its own parking lot; unlike San Diego where it needs to share parking with Lowe's and Costco, IKEA Costa Mesa has its own plot of land that isn't shared by any other store. Not only that, but everything is really well organized and despite the number of people in the store (basing this off how full the parking lot is), it doesn't feel crowded in this store. I feel like I can breathe here and not have to worry about being behind a slow couple or bumping into kids. The checkout area is busy but there are lanes with cashiers and self-check out. We were out the door in about an hour.

Brian essentially told me there was nothing further I could do and that he was the highest level of authority available. When I asked about escalating the matter or having the decision reviewed, I was told there was nowhere else to go. My frustration is not simply that IKEA denied the warranty. It's the way the situation was handled and the complete lack of any meaningful avenue to appeal or have the decision independently reviewed. As a customer, it is incredibly frustrating to be told, in essence, "there is nothing you can do," especially when you are trying to resolve a legitimate warranty concern. I expected IKEA to stand behind its products and provide a reasonable customer-service process when there is a disagreement over warranty coverage. Instead, I was left feeling that the decision was simply final because Brian said it was final. I have the written correspondence documenting the reason for the denial and the communication regarding the lack of further escalation. This experience has significantly changed my perception of IKEA's customer service and how they handle warranty issues.
