APlus Interior Design and Remodeling has given me great service over the years. We had our kitchen completely remodeled by them in 2013 and I still love my kitchen. Everything functions perfectly. Recently, a my daughter caught a loop from her pant leg on one of the lower cabinet pulls. She was flying through the kitchen when it happened and she pulled the out the cabinet door hinge so that it was hanging by just the lower hinge. I contacted APlus and sent them photos. Bob Sinbari, the operations manager said they would schedule someone to come out and fix it for me free of charge. Wow The owner, operations manager and the workers are absolutely amazing. David came out the following week and did an amazing job repairing the interior of the cabinet and reattaching the hinge. He patched the hole and I cannot even tell where the hinge pulled out. This was 15 years ago and the build quality is so good that the cabinets and its finish has lasted all these years. Alex swayed us away from designs that were not suited, and at the end he was right. Once again, A Plus amazed me with their outstanding service. After 21+ years, one of our eight pullout drawers broke (I'm sure it was our fault). A Plus replaced it with a better quality drawer (wood instead of melamine) FOR FREE because I brought in the broken drawer and was willing to pick up the new one later. Furthermore, they sent Raul (a very kind gentleman) to deliver the new drawer off at our house the following day! They treat their customers like family. They haven't changed their philosophy since Tom handled our kitchen refacing project 21 years ago. This was my first major renovation project, and I was terrified because of all the nightmare stories out there. A-Plus made the process painless. A Plus remodeled our kitchen in 2017 in our home in Chino Hills. They did an amazing and beautiful job. The cabinet doors and quartzite countertops were beautiful and we received so many compliments. Recently the large drawer wouldn't work because we overloaded it and so the weight of the pots and covers pulled the drawer off the wall. I called Bob who is Director of Operations and sent him some photos. He had Francisco come the next day and fixed it and adjusted all the doors. I said how much do we owe you, Bob said he is doing this at no charge. I couldn't believe it, not only was the initial construction done to perfection, but now the service is unbelievable. Alex and his team make great cabinets, below are some issues that we encountered in the whole process with the company: 1. We were told that the cabinets would take so many weeks, and then told later they'd be delayed another 3 weeks. After much complaining Aplus delivered them on schedule. 2. Cabinets/counters cut for counter depth fridge, when we provided the make/model of a standard fridge. We went back and fourth on this and even threatened a small claims case because of the obvious oversight. Alex finally agreed to give us a credit on our bill. 3. After installation, cabinets not lined up according to specs. We pointed it out and Alex had his guys fix the issue. 4. It took a very long time to get the drawer under stove to get cut and fitted correctly. 5. Something that was more annoying than anything else, every time we made a final decision and relayed that to Alex and the team members (type of appliances, type of sink, type of hardware, color of cabinets, type of countertop, etc...) Alex (and only Alex, his employees were perfectly amenable) would question us and tell us why we should go with some other look, manufacturer, or color. I think he thought he was being helpful, but it was extremely annoying to get pushback on things that me and my husband had labored over and put a lot of thought into only to be told why our decision was substandard or incorrect. Aplus does provide general contracting remodel services but he charges a lot for this and you can get a better deal elsewhere, just use Aplus for the cabinets and countertop fabrication, that's the best deal and something Alex will work with you on. Along with that, Alex does tend to upcharge for various products and services that you can sub out or buy on your own through other suppliers. Overall, we love the cabinets we got, the workmanship is outstanding, and the Aplus team is decent. The owner is a bit tough to deal with. If we had to go through another kitchen remodel we wouldn't use Aplus again because of the many headaches along the way. If you have patience and are upfront and steadfast about exactly what you want then your experience will be *mostly* painless (let's face it, kitchen remodels are a pain anyway). read more

Our house is a 68-year-old ranch style home in the North Tustin area. We wanted to update from traditional to transitional, with a more simplified look. We selected A-Plus after receiving rave reviews and after looking at some friends' remodels completed by A-Plus. Our project expanded to include remodeling our kitchen, laundry room, guest bath and family room. The initial demolition started the day before the first shelter in place due to covid. We bought our first house in 2017 in the Mesa Verde neighborhood of Costa Mesa. The house was "cute" and "had good vibes" but we really bought the house for the large backyard, the weather (we get the ocean air), and opportunity for indoor/outdoor living. The inside of the house was odd mix up mismatched floorings, odd walkways, washer and dryer in the kitchen (not in a cool Euro kind of way), and no master bathroom. After a year of saving $ & living in the house while learning what we like and don't like - we were ready to renovate the kitchen and 2 bathrooms! To make a long story short, we were at the same stage you were at and set up multiple meetings and bids via yelp and friends recs. We selected APlus 100% after Bob took us on a ridiculously long tour (lol) of their cabinet making process and Alex (the owner) decided to drive out to our house in Costa Mesa at 9PM on a Sunday night to "sketch" what our house could look like. Moral of the story, these guys get it and go above and beyond. Like any well ran business, it starts at the top of this family run biz. I will start by saying that what my kitchen has turned into from the 1960's / '90's look we had is amazing. Also, three stars in my opinion is average based on the totality of the experience. The new cabinetry, countertops, and lighting are fantastic. Anyone walking into the new kitchen would be amazed at most of what they see. Pros: Everyone who we came into contact with through A Plus was very friendly and trustworthy. The final quality of the cabinets was outstanding. I felt comfortable leaving the workers, in most cases, alone at my home to do their work in the beginning. The carpenters (Mark specifically) was extremely detailed, helpful, and skilled every time he showed up. The plumbers (Patrick and Co.) were also very skilled, helpful, and willing to help out with little extras and advice. Cons: Design details and help. My wife and I need help with design which is why we went with A Plus. After the cabinet layout was done we never heard from Alex again with any design help, or at all. We were expecting a bit more help with surface choice, backsplash, lighting, colors, etc. Any information we received was only after we asked. The layout with the function of our appliances was not designed will. I have to move my bar stool to fully open my refrigerator, and I have to have someone move from their seat to open my double oven. The installed island/countertop was not what was in the plans and created the lack of a seating position we wanted. Supervision of trades was almost nonexistent. Many mistakes had to be corrected after the fact due to miscommunications among trades. Biggest problem other than the island was the stone fabrication. Backsplash was cut wrong and uneven which had to be retooled. But how can you fix two seams when there was supposed to be one in the quartzite? The stone fabricators were not professional, and did not cut correctly on the expensive quartzite. Unable to match anything close for the caulking/latex on the counter/backsplash seam. Eventually used a product I researched and purchased on my own. Apparently having someone come in and try to use something other than white or clear caulk on the grey quartzite was an extra service. Scheduling and communication between us and the workers was not good. Usually inconsistent scheduling/timeline. We signed our contract in July '20, kitchen just finished in April '21. Making up for the problems, we have damage to our existing wood floor from appliance moving, debris under the masonite, etc., that cannot be fixed without refinishing. Baseboards, painting/finishing of the kitchen window casing from rough not included. I was provided rough instal of baseboards, paint for the kitchen casing, and "included" work to color match caulk for the stone, in an effort to make up for the messed up island, flooring, stone fabrication and install. I still have to finish the base and paint. Granted, we did not have an endless budget and were not redoing the flooring. We paid "over" contract price for hardware, and the quartzite we decided on after being told that our granite choice may not go with the new style. We agreed to these overages because we liked what we chose, and upon selecting a stone that was actually available to fabricate, we did not want to delay the project anymore. Very nice people, the kitchen looks good (once I finish the base/casing), and I love our material choices. I don't feel as though A Plus did the right thing in the end and not providing us a discount for the mess up's that cannot be fixed. I don't like that we never heard from the designer after we signed and he took measurements. I don't like that my kitchen doesn't look done even when they are finished. I am not surprised, after all I have worked with contractors in the past and understand the struggles. I wound not definitively say go with A Plus, it was an average experience in my opinion. However, I have not used any other kitchen remodel company to compare to. For sure have them come out and give you a quote, just be prepared to be really involved in supervising and checking the details at every step. read more

Their materials, construction, team, design, follow through and help with things outside of our contract was again, more than I could have hoped for. After a pipe burst behind the kitchen wall that decimated our kitchen and main level hardwood floor, we contracted APlus to redesign and rebuild our kitchen. Work that was done: - moved load bearing wall to add space to the kitchen to accommodate an island - added island to the kitchen with power - re-piped water in kitchen - added LED pot-lights throughout the kitchen - installed shaker cabinets throughout the kitchen with non-mdf high quality wood - installed 1400+ sqft of new hardwood with baseboard and crown - installed new windows in the kitchen; re-stucco around exterior windows - installed new patio sliding door - new main level shaker style doors - installed new appliances - installed new hood vent exhaust Positives: - Mostly anything to do with Alex T. - Design was excellent - Alex T. has an excellent eye for detail and can size up a room in no time - Kitchen materials and quality of wood is superior - Alex T. occasionally audited the work and often spotted inconsistencies with his design resulting in on-the-spot improvements - Easy to engage in open dialog with Alex T. which helped the design come to reality - Alex T. met us at various material centers (i.e., counter top) to review our selections to ensure that it played well with his overall design Not so positive: - Measurements from the design were off so many areas needed to be re-adjusted - fridge didn't fit - they needed to tear down and rebuild, hallway from kitchen would have been too wide had I not double-checked - Project mgmt was not the strongest; I don't think they paid much attention and there was a lot of turnover - Alex T. needed to help reconcile issues too often - Not sure how project management has evolved since we last worked with the APlus team (4yrs ago), but I really hope that it's stabilized and is more professional. Bottom Line: If you are willing to watch over the work being done by documenting, measuring and auditing to ensure that everything is being done on time and as designed, then you will end up with a final product that will make you very happy. We're 4 yrs into our new kitchen and everything is holding up really well. The only issues are grout starting to chip and the marble counter cracking behind the sink faucet (fortunately in an area that cannot be seen; hopefully it does cause more issues). How long did our particular project take? 5-6 months. Regrets? I wish we had added a larger sink, fridge and maybe a smaller sink on the side, other than that, none. read more

Absolutely the *BEST* in quality and service. EVERYONE on their team is knowledgeable, proficient and perform the work with excellent results. Our job was delayed due to production constraints but also because we had to schedule during a difficult time of year (Thanksgiving and then Xmas). We had to have our entire kitchen remodeled thanks to the notorious Orange County slab-leak affliction. So part of our schedule was to re-pipe the house and get the kitchen ready again for the re-model. This wasn't something we had the opportunity to 'plan' for, so having to run out and find all the parts we like/wanted (dishwasher, stove, sink, lighting, exhaust fan) takes time and a lot of it. Nonetheless, EVERY subcontractor and employee on this job was excellent. NOT ONE COMPLAINT from us on any work performed (that includes cabinets, appliances, installation, repaired flooring tile, plumbing, lighting and electrical). EVERYTHING was done to our satisfaction without any nudging from us. So our situation involved insurance $, but we went above and beyond to get the kitchen that we always wanted (i.e. your budget may vary). I have purposely waited some time to see how things would settle. Our job completed in April timeframe of 2019. Here we are almost FOUR YEARS later (at the time of this writing) and I can say without reservation that NOT ONE things has failed or required us to call A-Plus back (other than to maybe say 'hello'). Fine craftsmanship, diligence, excellent workmanship and good project administration. I would be happy to answer any questions and FULLY RECOMMEND A-Plus Design & Remodeling for any interior job you may have.
