This place poses as a Chinese restaurant but it's very clear the owners have no ties to Chinese food/culture or even attempt to make it right. The veggie (lo mein) noodles were soggy, drenched in what seemed like a fishy soy sauce, no other flavor and overly salty. The "Orange Chicken" was nothing like actual orange chicken. It was regular chicken made with tomato sauce and sautéed onions. No spice or orange zest flavor, or anything really The veal noodle dish was half decent and that was basically an italian style dish with fettuccini. There's also a sushi bar, no comment. Service was slow and confused, serving food out of order. If you want good chinese, go to any other spot in downtown LA / chinatown, or even the glendale panda inn. For the price and presentation you would expect actual Chinese or a good fusion. They don't seem to want to do either after multiple bad reviews/complaints. No idea what the other positive reviews are eating but I wouldn't come back to try and don't think the owners care read more

We had such a great experience at this restaurant! The atmosphere was cozy and stylish, the service was genuinely wonderful, and everything came out surprisingly fast, even though we were a big group. I loved that we ordered a lot of different dishes and shared everything it made the whole dinner feel fun and lively. The pig ears salad was such a nice surprise super fresh, perfectly seasoned, with that satisfying crunchy texture and just the right amount of spice. The grilled shishito peppers were simple but addictive, lightly charred with a smoky flavor that made it impossible to stop eating them. The White Dragon Roll was beautifully presented and tasted just as good as it looked. The veal with vegetables was tender and flavorful, cooked perfectly without being heavy. and the VEAL NIU ROU was especially rich and savory, cooked perfectly with deep, comforting flavor. And the shrimp with Tom Yum sauce was definitely my favorite rich, tangy, a little spicy, and packed with so much flavor that I kept going back for more. We also ordered dumplings at the end, and they were absolutely delicious -- juicy, comforting, and the perfect way to finish the meal. This restaurant doesn't post hours, have a website, or employ anything related to courtesy. Tried to visit to last night. Phone rang almost endlessly until a machine discharged me without offering a message option. So since several other restaurants were close by, we decided to go anyway. Lights were on, but no hours were posted, the staff we could see who could clearly see us refused to give us access. Instead they made an X with their arms from a distance of at least 30 feet. Very different from each other which is what makes it so cool. The restaurant has really good food, great family dining or date night place. We recently went back with some friends, and the food and service were still completely on point. So were the mixologists and the drinks they were mixing. On this occasion, we also visited the lounge in the back. In many ways it's very eclectic. Very cool. The DJ was awesome as was the video generating behind her. We are not big hookah fans, but we tried a couple and it was really great. The service in the lounge was as wonderful as the service in the restaurant. Looking forward to go back. read more

This is an interesting place. I think it would be a mistake to say it's outright bad. It's not. However, if you are going to this place expecting food that tastes like what most Los Angelinos expect Chinese food or Thai food to taste like, that isn't what you're going to get. If you want that, go to the San Gabriel Valley or Chinatown or Thai Town. At Dragon Garden, what I experienced was dishes that look like Chinese food but with Mediterranean flourishes, like, for example, a little more lemon in the hot and sour soup than typical. This is not necessarily a bad thing, but it definitely doesn't taste the way you would expect if you were used to your Chinese food tasting a certain way. There were definitely some glaring missteps. The fried rice was soggy and tasteless, though the shrimp was plump and fresh. The plain noodles were also soggy, though the flavor was good. The tom yum's flavor was muddled and the soup was not very hot, barely warm. There were bright spots to the meal as well! The mu kai noodles were flavorful with a tender yet still firm bite on them. I liked the tenderness of the ribs, though beyond the sauce on them, their flavor was a little bland for some people at my table. The shrimp marinated with cucumber was perhaps the most distinctive dish we had, strong and pungent, though, again, not necessarily Chinese, whatever that means. There are dishes that I am curious to try, like the duck, so I can't write this place off. As I said, some of the food is quite delicious. My most worrying concern is that the food is pretty expensive, much more expensive than what I would usually pay for Chinese food, and this isn't exactly Bistro Na, which two other diners with me loved. This restaurant just opened recently. I was excited to see a Chinese restaurant open near my office. The first time I went to the restaurant the kitchen was closed and they weren't seeing. The second time I want they were only serving about 1/4 of their entire menu. When I entered the restaurant there was and over powering fragrance of cologne/perfume.
